I think you are right. I ran across some players who where apparently young gamers. They tried to avoid me or answered when talked to or where talking some jibberish in russian and backing of with a held up pistol. KoSing and griefing has nothing to do with how old you are. Assholes are ageless. Which brings me to a conclusion for the thread starter: KoSing and griefing isn't a problem of the game. People are the problem. It is like it is in reality. People can easily live together and creat utopia. But if only one person decides to spoil the fun, he will and can. And you can do shit about it. Therefore, it doesn't matter what kind of game mechanic you like to include. There will always be assholes that find enjoyment in the knowledge, they just ruined your fun, no matter the consequences they face afterwards. And DayZ is sadly the game, I see most griefing potential in. So it will (and has) attract all kinds of idiots. It is sad, but get used to it. I will see what the games bring till it is offically released. Maybe it gets better, maybe it gets worse. But it will never go away.

I wasn't attacking you and I absolutly understand, why you didn't do certain things. When adrenalin is rushing, you forget what you could do and just do things. :) I just wanted to point it out like the many people before me, so the next time you are in such a situation, you remember us and then use the iron sights. ;)

Is it possible to implement getting sticks when chopping up bushes? At the moment, nothing happens when you chop down a bush (except for the model of the bush to fall down). I don't think it is possible to chop down small or big trees by now. But hacking a bush with a blade weapon should produce sticks. Would be a nice to have with the current problems of falling from everything and breaking a leg. Hell, I was disconnected from a server today (restart) and as I reconnected, I spawned a few hundred meters in the direction I came from on an open field and broke my legs from nothing. ;)

I agree with others, you should have used the iron sights. BTW: What kind of graphics solution are you using? 1080x728p? This is the second video I saw, where the letters are much bigger than in my game.

You can't shoot hats off with bullets. They just punch through and don't give much of their energy to the hat, to rip it off. Shooting someone in the head could flinge the hat of. But more because the skull gets deformed and the hat might fit worse than before, not to mention "stuff" flying out... Anyways, I think flying off hats would be hard to include in the engine. Also, losing your hat on random occasions would be more annoying then anything else. In the real world, you would feel if your hat is gone or about to get loose. You haven't this in game. So it would just be annoying and wouldn't add much to the game, in my opinion.

Hi, I broke a leg by kneeling on the first floor of a "prison" building on an airfield. Now I am a bit upset, cause I can only crawl and there is no suicide button. It is okay, it's an alpha, but here are some questions: 1. Where is the best spot to find sticks? 2. Where is the best spot to find morphin? 3. Is a suicide option planned? Would it be worth mentioning it in the suggestions sub-forum? 4. Is it common to break a leg by kneeling and using your inventory? I can't tell for sure if I was kneeling on something I picked up, but I think I broke my leg and ruinded my pants and everything in it, just by kneeling there.

@Kestrol: I managed to get on and of the first steps of a stair by lying parallel to it and then roll. After that, I could crawl upstairs. Logged in again to see if I could find some sticks or morphine in and around the airfiled and the villiage besides. After logging in I heard some gunshots from the town. Crawled in that direction, saw no one. Started to crawl towards the military base. Got shot in the back from no more then 5 meters away. Fucking KoS bitches were useful for once. Funny thing is, I didn't hear footsteps or anything. My fucking toon is panting and stomping around like an obese godzilla, but everyone else seems like to levitate. Whatever, respawned in Elektro, met two decent people who gave me some food and I actually found some nice loot in town. And the circle starts again... :)

Thanks guys, so there is only hoping and praying for me then. Or join the TS-Server, thank you for that proposal! I will see. Maybe I get shot if I crawl a few times from one end of the airfield to the other...

You need to right-click DayZ in your steam games list, then click properties --> Betas, there you switch from no participation to experimental, download the experimental client and with this you should see some of the higher population servers.

Your thread about your and your "teams" self-adulation about shooting bambis on top of the berenzino's construction site. On another note: Some kind of "pyramide" in the middle of nowhere, covered with the normal "grass" texture. Kind of strange, maybe a bug.

Combat Logging means, you get shot at and immediatly log out to avoid damage or death. Was used by many people for some time till the last big patch came online. Now, when you disconnect, your charakter stays in game for 30 seconds and just sits on the floor, even though you already closed the game on your computer. In this 30 seconds, you might get killed by another player or by some random zombies spotting you while sitting around or because they were following you from your last run to a town without you noticing them. You only get to know if you were killed in this 30 seconds when you log in the next time you want to play.

Somebody mentioned at one time, how it would be nice if you could "learn" some things from the books in the game, like sowing or cooking meals and such, you are not able to do until oyu read the book. Would be funny to run around clueless till you found a dictonary "english - russian" and from that point on, you would see the signs with western world letters. ;)

I want the signs to show the names in braille! On a serious note: dayZdb is the place to go for a map. You can also try to memorize some kyrillic letters that are use often in the names like a, e and l to get the idea of what name it could probably be.

Enjoy it! The first time I played the game, I ran through a small village near my spawning point, found nothing and then heard a zombie screech. I ran into the first house and sat there in a corner for ten minutes, scared shitless while hearing the zombie noise again and again. It took me some time to find out that the short zombie growls where coming from rabbits in the area. ;) But the adrenalin from seeing your first actual zombie while having no weapon or seeing your first player, getting shot at for the first time and such, the paranoia you get when you find your first good items on a airfield and suddenly realize you have to lose something... it is a rush. It's pretty sweet! :)

Besides being in the wrong forum: What exactly does this video show? A griefing idiot who figured out what mildot he has to use after lying on this hill for a few hours and shooting people who are no threat? Is this what I see?

I like the G3, I used it in my time in the Bundeswehr. (Even though the rifle was a few years older than me) The caliber punches harder then the smaller ones. It is pretty accurate (was used with a scope as a "sniper rifle"). The magazine isn't as big, but thats okay. The G3 even found an use as a hunting rifle, with some changes to it to prevent full auto fire, restricting it to semi-auto. Maybe it could find its place in this role? As a semi-automatic hunting rifle with its rail, able to make use of red-dot-sights or a LRS.

As someone else stated: The current idea is about the people being infected (like in 28 Days later), not being dead and revived. So you basically shoot normal people. Normal people die of any gun shot wound to most organs, not only the brain. Even if they were zombies like in "The Walking Dead", the need to shoot them in the head doesn't make much sense either, by their own definition. But maybe they change the "story" behind DayZ and make them Zombies in the classic definition. But then I hope for improvements in melee combat, especially hitting where your crosshair is...

Every time I see one saying "I KoS because I'm bored since there is no endgame and I have nothing else to do" I only understand something along the lines of "I like to ruin other peoples expirience and I feel good about my "power".". Really, if you are bored by the game than you have these options: - Talk to people, maybe you get killed, then you can gear up again and have something to do again. - Quit DayZ for now and play something else. If I am bored by something, I stop doing it and do something else instead. And don't use "I'm bored" as a piss-poor excuse to be an asshole. And no, saying "I'm here to test for bugs" isn't an excuse either. I think every single bug regarding shooting other people is known by now. It happend a lot. - Just be honest about your reason for KoS. You are an asshole and you like to dominate others. Maybe not everyone, some are probably really forced into it by behavior of others. But especially whole squads of bambi killing people and "snipers" lying around clicking all day on clueless people: You are just assholes, stand up to it. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to insult KoS'ing people. The world had a lot of assholes before DayZ came. And I didn't care much about them either. The only thing I could really get mad about, are dishonest people who lie about their real intentions. @thread starter KoS'ing, sniping and killing bambis is here to stay. Don't get your hopes up to high about more content coming in and forcing people to team play instead of KoS. Even then you will have your bambi-killing death squads and "skilled" spawn-point snipers .

For me, it was the other way around. Carried a rope with me, couldn't find a burlap sack. Found a second rope, then a backpack. Got attacked by a zombie, backpack and ropes, all ruined. Dropped the ropes and found me a new backpack. All this time, a burlap sack was not to be seen.

Good question. I only saw a tweet from rocket, that experimental is going to 36, but no changelog due to ongoing changes, or something along these lines. Didn't make much sense to me.

Didn't see any LRS in my 40hrs of DayZ, can't help, sorry. Qustion regarding your vid: Why / how did you have such big text and symbols?
