The whole m16/m4 family of weapons are totally reliable lol. This whole argument of unreliable weaponry came from the Vietnam war where the first troops to use them were told they didn't have to clean them. Everyone knows you have to clean your weapon after use, even the AK ffs.

M4 maaaaynnn! It's a total noob cannon but with the proper parts and a sustained firing position it's very accurate over medium distances. Plus you've got the 60 round mags for CQB. I love the mosin and sks but the m4 will always have my heart because of its versatility!

The military bases should have a decent amount of gear in them, the trade off should be that they have been overrun and are full of zombies. There is no way the entire army in America would be wiped out. Obviously there would be mass desertion but there's no way to predict or even interpret that into real life or a game lol. This game is better than most in terms of 'authenticity' so as long as it keeps going it should be alright when it's done.

I agree that in this scenario a lot of military loot could be scavenged, but IF the military have all of this gear they'd at least be in a better situation to deal with it IMO, therefore there would be more military survivors and less available military loot.

I take the Road as accurate as a story could be in apocalyptic scenario. It's funny that in the novel the only 'civilised' communities that are left are the ones that accepted cannibalism and open hostility to others. Like I said, society is already fucked well and truly so god knows what would happen with no laws or government.

Personally I'd rather backpacks and the game in general were more like Cormac Mcarthy's The Road, rather than every other shooter with shit loads of military gear. I'm not saying that there shouldn't be any, just that it should be ultra rare and a really special find.
