  1. I agree that that is the case, but I wish that it wasn't so. However, survival is easy at the moment. I guess regardless if surviving is easy or not there will still be people who are just in it for the PK. Which is fine I guess, but at the moment there's an abundance of firearms which pretty much just promotes PK. Then again, even if there wasn't - people just grab the closest weapon they can find and start hurting down people. If there would actually have to be some effort behind acquiring your weapons I think people might think differently. I guess that will be the case though, with more and more ammunition types sharing the same spawn places. M4s shouldn't come with any mods at all when they spawn imo. Although making the acquiring of items a longer process would just mean that people will server-hop more I guess... which could be rectified by a large number of zombies at certain locations. But that just means that in order to get to those places you need to use makeshift weapons. The flaw of the game in it's current state is that is way too easy to replace your gear so it doesn't matter if you die or not. Of course, it will take a while to get all things in pristine condition or if you're looking for that particular item which always seem to elude you (which of course isn't necessary for any player, but it's more of a... collector's thing I guess). But other than that you can be armed and have ammunition for your weapon and with some luck a backpack within an hour or two. I guess that this will change though as the game progresses. Still curious to see how they'll battle server-hopping, if it is even possible.

    Mosin the pistol?

I'd personally prefer if they used the time for something that would actually be useful instead of useless 'fun' things.

    What to carry?

The only way to reload the shotgun with R is if you have snaploaders, at least from my own experience. You will have to empty the barrels of the shotgun before you can put in new shells I believe (haven't used it for a while so I don't remember, I lost mine due to a backpack bug which made it disappear like a cleared line in Tetris. But from what I remember I had to take eject before I could load new shells). If you drop something on ground level and it disappears, try waiting around a minute or so - it will usually spawn again. Sometimes they don't, then I guess you can just blame it on alpha, take a bite of the sour apple and continue on your merry way.

Would phones/internet work in Case of Apocalypse

Setting up a two way communication via two wired phones is silly easy - all it requires are 2 (functional) wired phones, a long chord, a resistor (don't exactly remember which kind but they're generally available in hardware stores), a 9V battery (or some other, similar, power source). You won't have a number and it won't produce a ring tone so you wouldn't know when to pick up and it is restricted to those two phones only, I suppose it would be, somehow possible, to connect more phones to such a network, but I'm not really into that kind of stuff so don't quote me on it. I just remember that we did this in school for a class. I guess by doing so, anyone connected to the wire will be able to hear it though (well given that they've got a reciever and a power source, not sure if a 9V will sustain more than two phones).

    What to carry?

Did you find a magazine for the FNX? Otherwise it's pretty much useless to you right now.
  7. Today I stayed crouched in a bush for about 8 hours, while I was studying. Just alt-tabbed back to the game to eat, see if I was still alive and reconnect for a server reboot. Not sure that that would be considered playing though. I don't play for longer than 3 hours straight.

what should i do? My fiend is evil

I guess you could 'hire' someone to take him out every now and again, providing information such as server, location and what he's wearing.

what should i do? My fiend is evil

You could just ditch him every time he tries to engage in a fight that you don't want to participate in. For instance, if he sees someone that he wants to kill and he starts chasing after them - just go in the opposite direction or stay hidden in a bush. If he asks why, just tell him that you don't want to participate in his senseless killing sprees and you're not going to risk your life for something that you don't like. The downside to this is the fact that he could do the same to you - when you need help.
  10. Yes - trees protect against rain. I haven't tried it for any extended period of time and I'm not sure if they differ in any way from houses for instance. Irl, it would be hard to stay completely dry even underneath a tree depending on the tree and the amount of rain of course. I'm guessing that the system will turn you cold if you're staying wet or damp for extended periods, which in return would drain more energy from your body. I guess that loss of energy and being wet would also make you more susceptible to catching a cold and/or disease/infection (due to suppressed immune system). That's the links I can see at least - given the information we have gotten here and there. Being sick in return will probably have effects as well. Purely speculating here, but it seems logical. The first three backpacks in the game, taloon, mountain and hunter - should be water resistant to begin with, I guess depending on the condition of said items. But they're all backpacks designed for outdoors activities (mountain climbing, hiking and hunting). Taloon is (or at least seems to be) based off of Osprey Talon backpacks and those are water resistant - which of course doesn't equal water proof which I guess the protector boxes will be, since they are irl) - I guess that mountain backpacks are water resistant as well. The hunter's packback might not be though, some are - some aren't.

Is server hopping for lots of loot possible?

By the question itself I'm going to assume that you've just recently started playing. It would probably be better to just start on a mid-populated server play there for a while, get to know the lay of the land, then progress to higher populated servers when you feel that you know where you can find certain things and know the geography a little bit more. However, on topic - yes it is possible to change server from one server to another. As other people have said, it's not very popular - people do it none the less. People play the 'game' (using the term loosely since it's alpha) differently, some people just want to pvp, some want to explore some playing styles probably promotes server hopping more than other styles of playing. Logging out from the game, places your character in-game for 30 seconds - so you're pretty much a free kill, and there's a spawn timer that kicks in as well, if you change servers too quickly.
  12. When I tried it: My trousers got wet, my backpack got wet, my hat got wet, my shoes got wet. Now, the rain coat doesn't protect those areas - it only protects the torso. The rain coat also got more wet than the other clothes that I wore and it took (alot) longer to dry off than the other things. With that said, it could very well be that it's WAI and it just keeps the torso part of your body dry. Edit: Finished a sentence

    character progression ... CONFIRMED

No, no one can tell you the what the approximate % of females is in DayZ. No one on the forums anyway. I don't remember if you have to register which gender you are when you create a steam account, but if you do - the only ones who could possibly answer that question somewhat correctly is someone handling statistics over at steam.

  15. Either make it so that you can choose yourself to whether or not to remove via settings or just remove it when you hold a weapon in your hands.

    Trading Post

I won't be able to play properly for the forseeable future due to exams and essays, so consider me closed. Regular - Closed on account of Death Disclaimer I won't trade with anyone who doesn't have a reasonable amount of posts on the forums.Would prefer to trade with people from Europe, due to time zone differences - unless you want the inconvenience of time differences.Won't trade in cities (due to the fact that I get crappy fps in cities) or close to any 'hot spots'.Preferrably pristine for pristine and definitely not lower than worn.

    Give civilian clothes some bonus?

Well I said it doesn't conceal shit if you're in the city and I was giving suggestions what to wear if you're in the woods - since the op didn't want to wear camouflage clothes. I'm concealed enough with the clothes I use when I'm crouching underneath trees or in bushes. I wouldn't be if I was sprinting across a field, but neither would someone in TTsKO. I'm not if I go prone in a field, though someone wearing a tactical shirt on the other hand would be. It's all about adjusting to your surroundings - and I guess my hat really does make me stand out from it though. The suggestions that civilian clothes should be lighter, not deteriorate as quickly and so on is just plain stupid (except that a pair of canvas trousers are lighter than a pair of sturdy hunter's trousers). Clothes used for outdoors activities are going to endure more than a pair of retail denims, they're usually more water resistant and hunter clothing are, as far as I'm concerned, civilian clothes - just that they're made for outdoors activities. I guess the down jacket is quite warm though or will keep body heat longer than say just the TTsKO jacket and since we can't use layer upon layer - you've got the trade off right there.

    Is DayZ TOO Easy?

Right now, yes. However, I don't feel it's fair to judge the game's concept which is survival - when it's 2 months into alpha. I'm waiting for when diseases, coldness, infections, improvised weapons, camp fires, more/tougher zombies, less ammunition, loot respawn, not so many server resets, are implemented to judge if it is too easy or not.

I Believe I am Having A Heart Attack

I just sprinted for 20 minutes and before that I jogged for 10 minutes on a experimental server... the only thing that happened was that I lost some hydration levels. Albeit I am at full health, blood and energy levels. But I don't think you'll just get a random heart attack without some other type of condition, such as poor nutrition, blunt force trauma, already wounded, whatever other reason there might be. I would have recorded it, but I felt it unnecessary since no one would actually watch someone running for 30 minutes in pitch black.

    Give civilian clothes some bonus?

If you're in a city the TTsKO doesn't really conceal anything. From my own experience. If you're out in the woods, there's brown hunter pants, green cargo pants, brown hoodie, the green hoodie and probably more to come plus the green raincoat.

Would you like a black backpack?

The pricing in USD isn't US prices, it was to make it so that people who do not use Euro would have some grasp of what those bags cost in EU due to import charges - because it's mainly american companies that sell these things. US prices for 5.11/Maxpedition/Blackhawk/etc. gear are low as hell in comparison to European prices (a 5.11 72 is about three times as expensive in the EU as compared to the US - you can get it down to about twice the price of the US pricing). Sure there are cheap chinese made, for instance Mil-Tec MOLLE Assault Pac, which seems to range from piss poor quality to fairly functional. But why would you want to put poor quality backpacks in a game where your rucksack goes through extreme conditions to say the least? As I said, I don't mind them being in-game, as long as they're from military installations only - cause I would have a hard time seeing the citizens of Chernarus taking a decent tactical style backpack to work or to school. These types of backpacks are, again, fairly 'new' as well - particularly for civilians. But hey, if you can find a 5.11 72 for ~ 130-160 USD in Europe, let me know - cause I'm looking for one that isn't going to cost me twice that without having the option to try it on. Of course, I don't know what the economy was like in Chernarus before the outbreak, particularly not when it comes to import charges and taxes.

Would you like a black backpack?

I think black DIY messenger bags might come. I'm not entirely sure about tactical MOLLE system bags though, considering where the game takes place and the price-tag on said backpacks when it comes to retail sales (it's not really something you'd see your average person wearing, cause most people don't pay 200€/280$ for a backpack that they're just using for college or work). If they should make it in-game, I'd prefer to just seem them at military installations and not all countries use MOLLE system bags in the military either.
  23. Hmm... We got new gear not so many patches ago, there's wet-status on the experimental build just to name two things. I think we're getting noticable things pretty much all the time.

He already said that on Sacriel's stream about a week ago, where he also said (I don't remember if he said that yesterday or not though) that the skill progress (in lack of a better term at the moment) you make is going to reset when you die.
