Really? The only doors here (Sweden) that opens inwards is interior doors - all other doors open outwards... at least a vast, vast majority of the doors. Where are you from? Would be interesting to know actually. I hate those damn large gates though, if you're standing at the wrong side of those you get shoved away when you're opening them. I have no idea why I'd open a gate fully if I don't have to drive through it with a car.

So far the type of weapons you can store in a backpack are the sawed off shotgun, the pistols, the revolver and the melee weapons. I can honestly say that I don't see alot of people hoarding weapons and ammunition in a backpack for the sole reason that it's very limited space - particularly if the necessity of other items will become important, such as matches, pots, gas canisters/stoves and all those other things that would be concentrated around surviving. Hopefully you won't be able to store ammunition boxes or protector boxes in your persistent backpack - unrealistic yes, but it would make it so that you have less space to use forcing you to choose more wisely or selectively. But yeah, I think we will just have to wait and find out how they're going to implement it to begin with.

Not that it will actually be it, but a Carl Gustav m/45.

Wich vehicles do you want to see in the SA?
LeChat replied to Ep1cNiki's topic in General Discussion
Basically the ones that are already in game as debris and lootable containers - those range from military trucks to ladas so I think that would suffice for me. It honestly doesn't matter much to me - as long as they're in line with everything else. I can't picture a pristine range rover anywhere in Chernarus - it would just seem malplaced. -
Quiz: How long would you survive an apocalypse?
LeChat replied to rydekk's topic in General Discussion
Q01: C Q02: C Q03: D Q04: C Q05: A Q06: C (I've watched way too many zombie flicks to do otherwise and there's not too many bathsalt junkies around here - so people chewing on each other could just mean two things: either cannibalism is the new fashion diet or there's zombies) Q07: C Q08: A Q09: C Q10: D (unless the person in question wants A) Q11: B Q12: C Q13: B In all of those questions, save for Q13, I would have chosen alternative E though (cause in any given situation, the option that is not presented is most likely the more suitable one) -
Pork is forbidden according to christianity as well. Along with a wide variaty of other sources of food. The "totally irrelevant thingie" was for the spoiler part btw (just to clarify, didn't want to sound rude). Why not server hop to find a backpack, an M4, a/an <insert any type of loot that you want here>? You either do it, or you don't I guess... it depends on how you want to play the game. I think scavenging will be and should be the priority for new characters. Seeing as you start hungry, your best bet is probably to find canned food or since Dean talked about being able to pick the pumpkins (carve it out and put it on your head and we've got a new type of bandit running around) and apples - that type of food - so between what you can find in houses and what you can pick you'll probably survive. If you happen to find a bow, a rifle, arrows and ammunition - then you can just start hunting I guess. I guess hunting will be the source for food in a more long term situation or at least it should be considering the amount of meat large game yields. They (Dean? Someone? I think I heard it mentioned anyway) wanted fishing as well I believe so there's another source for food. The sources for food will most likely just grow in time: hunting, fishing, harvesting (or collecting), scavenging, different scales of horticulture (I think Dean mentioned horticulture at one point). However, how much that actually makes it in-game is another story.

An average person also needs about 1800 kcal (of course it varies with age, height, weight, gender) per day (or ~7500 kJ) to properly maintain their body's functions without engaging in any kind of physical activity. But if you feel that you can sprint and jog with a backpack and not eating for 3 weeks, while still maintaining your mental stability, cognitive abilities and physique. Sure you can survive for 3 weeks, you can even survive for 70 days without food, the longest is 94 days I believe. Now I've never starved to death in this game, cause that seems to be pretty much impossible (it doesn't take much food to get energized), so I don't know how long that takes but I will try on experimental someday though. It might very well be that it's too easy (or takes too short a-time) to starve to death, but we definitely need to eat more in game cause as it is now... it doesn't add up at all. The hunger/hydration system is seriously... flawed and it definitely needs to be fixed, I guess it will be with weight and stamina implemented though, if it will be implemented. All of this is slightly off-topic though. Totally unnecessary to the thread or the conversation
-
Err... we don't eat nearly enough in this game to be perfectly honest. Nowhere near the amount of calories needed to fuel your body. Sure you can go a couple of days without seeing animals when hunting, on the other hand a mature buck will feed you for a long time. A hog even longer. Well that is to say if you can prevent the fresh meat from spoiling without refrigeration or curing.

They're having open fires on a wooden floor, in a wooden house/shack... You were linking a video about sleeping bags serving as spawn points when you die - nothing else is really mentioned. Did you link the wrong video or? Cause I was hoping to see some good solution for sleeping, but nowhere in the video does it mention sleeping or being vulnerable/safe when logging off.

Anything ruined An assortment of medical supplies that I wouldn't be able to use since I run solo Bayonets (until you can actually use them) Canvas clothes Designer shades Duct tape Empty cans of food Gas masks Hammer Head torches Helmets Payday masks Rotten food Running shoes Shoes that are not of pristine condition Sights that are damaged or worse Wrench Weapon flashlights other than for pistols there's probably more that I couldn't think of ...anything else is situational

According to some video, can't remember which one it was, either it was a sacriel stream from 1-1.5 months ago or it was the eurogamer one - Dean said they were going to add faces. I vaguely remember the number 15 being mentioned in that same context but don't quote me on it and I don't think it was 15 faces for each 'race' but rather a total of 15 faces. Don't think we will see much customisation really, probably just choosing between pre-made heads/faces. And if I remember correctly, beards won't be added cause he didn't want to implement something that would just affect one gender and I guess that makes sense from a time aspect. Better to implement features that could just be copied and converted to the other gender.

Here's the deal: Someone playing on a regular server does not affect anyone playing on a hardcore server and vice versa. That is all there is to it really. If they shared hive then you could have complained about it, but they don't. One choice is not superior or better to the other and there are no arguments in the world to claim or state otherwise as an empirical fact. I play both (when I have the time to play) and have no problems finding decent sized (ranging from 20-40 players) hardcore servers. Sure there are less hardcore servers than regular servers - but I don't need 10 different 30 out of 40 players servers with decent latency to play the game. Sure I don't play all the time so I have no idea about certain times of the day, but I rarely play during the times that (I think) can be considered prime time and the times I can actually play (or feel that I have enough energy to play) is sporadic at best and still manage to find servers to play on, it could be that I'm the luckiest person alive when it comes to finding DayZ hardcore servers (serious lackluster of a skill to possess), but that's not very likely. If you want to play in 1PP only, go play on a hardcore server. If you want to play on a 3PP, go play on a regular. If you want to play 1PP on a regular server, by all means - go ahead and do so, but don't complain about people using 3PP then. Don't blame the game or the options of playing styles that it gives just because your friends do not want to play in a certain way or prefer one way to the other. Get new friends, be more convincing about the benefits of hardcore servers or make a deal with them: 50% of the time you play on HC and 50% you play on regular servers.

Find a flaw in my logic, because this seems too simple.
LeChat replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Because letting the game limit me in MY choice of server is bad design. If I want to play in a 2/40 server I should be able to. If I want to play in a 39/40 server I should be able to. If I want to play on the server where I've gotten to know the "locals" I should be able to. I don't want to be forced to a server because the latency (at that exact moment) dictates that that's where I should go. -
If they're living why would they decompose? That doesn't make any sense at all. Decomposition of organic things occurs after death, not before. Unless we're talking something along the lines of gangrene or some other form of extreme cell/tissue death. But why would they even be alive then? Wouldn't make any sense to have decomposing living zombies.

You mean unlike now, when 90% of the players run around in the same or very similar outfits...

Really? Did your epiglottis actually constrict your larynx producing the sound of laughter? Or did you just type it, to take up space? There's a simple solution to this problem, as there is with all things that require player interaction... create your own safe spot somewhere in Chernarus with a group of like minded individuals from the community and enforce your own rules, those that do not comply - gets shot. It's as simple as that and then you can start trading best you want. If you have a game that revolves around (and it does, like it or not and before you go there - pk is interaction) between the players and their interaction with the environment and other players - why on earth would you want to add something like this when all it does is actively tries to negate player interactions? There's a perfectly good trade thread somewhere in the general discussion forums use that or why not build a trading post somewhere when base building comes into play and then see the first suggestion?

military gears and weapons / possible solution to server hopping
LeChat replied to daisho's topic in General Discussion
If you make loot harder to obtain, more people will server hop. Just find a spot which is remote and has multiple spawn points in a short radius and start hopping, eventually you'll get what you want (not promoting server hopping, just illustrating how you'd do if all loot was random). Respawning loot, less ammunition (which will probably be the case when it comes to adding more firearms that need different types of ammunition), more and generally tougher zombies and zombies spawning inside buildings is probably the way I'd go to try and reduce server hopping. In other words, make some things harder to obtain by placing 'obstacles' in areas with more 'desirable' loot, making the risk of obtaining that pristine ACOG (or whatever you're looking for when you're hopping) greater. Right now if you're 'unlucky' and you fire your gun at an airfield all you're going to get is 4-6 zombies after you, all of them goes down with one shot (more or less), increasing the number of zombies twofold (or more) and increasing the amount of damage they can withstand would probably make you think twice before you decide to start server hopping and wasting ammunition and potentially hurting yourself in the process. -

To be fair, people who play with the night settings as they're supposed to be (not tweaking gamma and brightness) wouldn't see anyone unless they're wearing those screaming orange or red clothes and even then I'm not sure that it would make a difference really, unless it's a lit up area. With that said though, finding a matching set-up of clothes is one of the more fun parts of the game right now - hopefully they'll add black burlap sacks or the ability to paint them in the future for those that likes to rock black outfits. My clothing progress has always been that in the beginning I always take what has the most slots. If I've just spawned and find TTsKO clothes, of course I'm going to use it instead of my jeans or instead of my t-shirt. However, I usually try to replace them as quickly as possible with more civilian looking clothes since I don't care that much about inventory slots at the moment (besides cargo pants and hunter's pants have the same amount of slots as the camouflage pants so). Cargo pants or hunter's pants usually a brown hoodie when I can find them. Some fashionable hat. Hunter's backpack or either of the improvised ones. On the experimental server I'm currently going for a "partisan" look, with a grey wool coat, a check flat cap, hunter's pants and the improvised messenger bag and an SKS (and a pristine pitchfork, was gonna go for a farmer's look with checkered shirt, wellies, some sort of cap and a shotgun... but then I found my sexy coat, but I couldn't throw away my pitchfork). So I'm guessing I'm going to sport that look as soon as it hits 'live' as well.

Forums are made for people to whine and qq. Which is why the devs stick to twitter and reddit instead. At least that's the reason why I'd choose to post things on those places rather than the whine cellar that are the forums.

Why do zombies spawn out of thin air (experimental)

Poorly written feedback is worse than no feedback. -
Not sure if it is 5 or 6 and the reason that I've killed them is because they attacked me first.
