Update Rev. 0.36.115535 (Experimental branch)
Young Trotsky replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
Yup, was trying to make a point. I wish people would use the search function more, I think this same question has been asked and answered about 5 times in the this thread by now! My sarcastic response was probably not the best way to go, I apologise. I'm honestly not trying to be reactionary or defensive, I just seriously don't know how or why you are making these predictions about a game that is so early in development. But I guess the reason I keep responding to you, despite the fact you are fairly sarcastic and hostile, is that I'd like to know what you're trying to achieve with your post. I'm not saying no one can complain about DayZ, although personally I think it is a pretty strange way to approach a development team that seem very keen on listening to player feedback and have already made changes directly in response to feedback from players (e.g. the eat-all function). But I would argue that making polite inquiries and suggestions (after spending a few minutes searching to see if your topic is already under discussion) is more likely to be helpful, and maybe even foster a friendlier environment. Cheers. -

Is server hopping for lots of loot possible?
Young Trotsky replied to MarchmelloMan's topic in General Discussion
Have a look at this video for a better understanding of how to keep your energy and hydration levels up. As for server-hopping, you may already know but you get a spawning cooldown if you change servers too quickly, from 30-300 seconds depending on how long you stay on each server (cooldown is minimum after 30min on server). -

My main point was just that the game is obviously a long way from finished, so I don't know why you're already saying that anything is impossible. Unless you know something we don't...Rasputin? -

From what I understand it isn't easy for them to just copy things from the mod into this standalone. The devs have said lots of times that they are working on big changes for zombies, including respawning without server restart. People ask for this on a daily basis but it will presumably take months of work to have a whole new system for the zombies and it would be a waste of time and energy to make small changes now if the whole zombie AI is being overhauled. As for the larger servers, I assume it is less costly to the server to have some extra players than to dramatically increase the number of zombies, which use lots of processing power to control, so at least you are more likely to encounter some more PvP situations while you're waiting for the new zombie system to be introduced. This game was only released ~3 months ago and has improved A LOT since then. Saying that you suspect the devs will 'never be able to provide that feature as planned' is very premature at this stage. You have to be patient, it may be several years before this game is finished, what you play today is a stage in development that would normally only be seen by a few hundred people, not 1,500,000! -

They made a lot of changes to the map, especially around Svetlo, they also added the medical centres and police stations, fracture indicator, fixed several bugs with structures (you can't get inside the top part of the school building any more), FPS seems much better. I think that indicates there is even more new stuff under the hood. -

There was no patch for stable this week, on the stream Hicks said there will probably be no patch to stable until next Wednesday (26th). -

Great post, man, very good point. Safe to assume many of the devs are only qualified to create content, not fix bugs, they're not just going to wait around until all the bugs are fixed to create new content. I am currently watching the twitch stream with Hicks and he makes the point that if the dev team stopped to fix bugs without pushing out new features/content the development of the game would grind to a halt. Bug fixing is meant to come at the end, when all the main features are in place. No point wasting time fixing bugs if you're going to introduce a new feature next month that will introduce a whole new set of bugs that take just as long to fix, when you can just wait to push the content and then fix all those bugs at once. Yes it's frustrating to play when some of the bugs cause some players major issues, but it means that major improvements to the game will come faster overall. -

Well he said military rifle, not M4, so if we're being pedantic the Mosin and the SKS are military rifles too, either you misread or you didn't understand his point. -

I think you're right, would make way more sense if by heart attack they actually meant cardiac arrest (CA) rather than myocardial infarction (MI). As you say a defibrillator only works on a patient in shockable CA and is no help with a true heart attack (MI). -

Has anyone actually experienced a heart-attack yet? Or you're just assuming that heart attacks will be common and caused by sprinting without actually having any knowledge of what causes them and how likely they are? Why not wait to see how they actually work before saying they're a bad addition? -

This needs to be pinned and the 0.34 thread unpinned. Sorry for stating the obvious. -

But I so wanted to agree with you, I just didn't want people to think I agreed with the bit where you were being a wanker, so I didn't give my beans. No beans for you. Maybe a rotten kiwi. -

Ha yeh, it's always impressive how many people on the internet seem intent on ruining the experience of other players, even if means making their own experience incredibly dull. FOR THE THRILL!! -

The devs have already commented that they are working on the server restart problem, we could probably stop posting about it now... -

I had no problem putting a burlap sack on my own head and then taking it off again, maybe you were just having some lag issues? Sounds like something was going on with the server from what you said about your loot re-appearing anyway. I haven't tested trying to put it on someone else's head, I hope I can, stick-ups would be way more fun...
