Player versus player does not have to necessarily mean "combat to the death". There are all manner of ways players could compete against each other without limiting themselves to gunfighting, if there are game mechanics that allow it. This applies to the real world as well: when people's survival needs are met, they look for ways to entertain themselves. There are two ways the game can go, as far as I can see, if the developers actually do want to avoid a permanent deathmatch (and they may well not want to): 1) make lone survival so cripplingly difficult that people are forced to set up in-game, in-server communities that require cooperation and maintenance in order to flourish and for its members to live long enough to actually succeed in reaching "late-game" content; 2) implement 'sub-games' and relevant game mechanics that allow players to come up with a variety of improvised ways to challenge and entertain themselves and each other without killing. "Sport", if you will.

It'd be interesting if you could run back to your own corpse after dying and eat your former self.

[Be nice] How do you torture people in days?

Restrain them, and then read "The Mayor of Casterbridge" to them aloud until they log off and suicide. -

Svetlojarsk is probably the easiest place to find a mixture of frash spawns and bandits. But the problem is, they are difficult to track as they move through the town if you are to remain hidden yourself. Your mission is not an easy one. -
Have you ever given guns and ammo to freshspawns?

You wanted that to happen all along, though, didn't you? Admit it. -
Fall damage is one of the lowest priority fixes in the whole game, as far as I see it. For one thing, I very rarely fall off things anyway, and I don't see why anyone would unless they are being spectacularly careless. For another, whenever I have fallen from height, the damage has seemed entirely reasonable to me.

Judging by where I found it, I'd say not. Probably best bet is to check piano buildings, corner cafes, shrines, kiosk roofs, cowsheds, etc.

I already gave it to my mate. Sorry!

er... cz, I think.

I found the rifle in one of those big square red-brick buildings with one enterable room and a loot spawn at the top of a flight of stairs that leads nowhere.

Where did you find the magazine?

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
pillock replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
My experience of zombies since the patch: - they can hit you when you're behind them - they sometimes hit you without having displayed the 'attack' animation - they are much harder to hit in melee (I need to do more practice, but the crawling ones are especially difficult) - they don't seem to notice you as early as before (you can run right up to them without setting off the aggro) - they sometimes decide to run off in some random direction after aggroing and not come back! - zombie noises are constantly in your ears, all over the map -
Persistent items will be activated with a hotfix, apparently next week. After that, the stuff you leave in your tent (and outside it?) will survive a server restart. I think that's correct?

It's quite obvious to me. The gun laws in Chernarus stipulate that you must keep firearms in the local barn, ammo in your house, and magazines in the military barracks. Therefore, nobody had the chance to use up their ammo, hence why there is so much of it lying about.

The posts you're replying to in this thread are really old, man. The one previous to yours is from February. There's been loads of updates and changes in the melee combat since then.
-
Yeah, sorry about that.

There's nothing wrong with the OP's use of pronouns, as far as I can see. And I teach English as a foreign language. Example: "Somebody phoned me yesterday. They wanted to speak to President Obama. I told them they had the wrong number." "Some dude" does imply that the person referred to is a "he" and a "him", but you can use they/them just the same. "Dude" is fairly gender neutral these days in terms of usage. I suppose that having used "his" early on in the paragraph, he should have continued using singular male pronouns, in terms of strict concordance; but he could equally change "his" to "their" and it would have the same effect. Anyway! It's a pretty nit-picky thing to make a deal of, so I'll leave it there.

You aren't correct about that. They and them are often used to refer to single people, if their identity is unknown. (It doesn't matter, really, but be careful in your next IELTS exam!)

EXP - Map now shows the players exact position
pillock replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
The yellow circle has made it to stable, and hardcore for that matter. Really glad the devs are going to fix it (take it out), because it totally ruins the experience for me. Easier, yes; but the satisfaction you get from manually figuring out your location and navigating by observing your surroundings compared to the map is completely removed. -

Not necessarily. Finding an empty tent, because the owner had logged out with their gear, would still mean that you know where they live. You could stay and wait, or come back later. Also, the owner of the tent might get killed, or log off somewhere else, which would mean his loot stays there for thieving gits such as yourself to find. Scratch that - I just thought of something. I don't like the idea of "ownership" of things like tents: if they're in the game, they should be anybody's to use. So yeah, it's a shit idea. -
What on Earth gave you that idea?
