Zombies ! More Zombies is always the answer! but on your thoughts for player interaction. I agree there should be more incentive. But I do not think what you propose makes sense. How would the devs do that? this would become quite a difficult challenge to find a way to monitor/measure the interactions of people. Keep It Simple. Zombies ! What I mean - what if the towns/areas were rampant with Zombies? Force people to try to work together so they can find loot/Suppliers Make Airforce bases a Serious health hazzard. When I start to NEED people to survive. when I see a person and I am HAPPY that maybe we can work together...then you have built that incentive. There will always be lone wolves, there will always be KOS. But you can catch the "on the fence" crowd and nudge them into the co-op camp. On a Last note - if they do add a significant increase in the zombie horde/challenge. Then they do need to re-examine/rebalance the Melee weapons. Currently they are a little "out of balance", so I really hope they look into that. -

Question about Rain/getting wet. I understand that this has no "impact" at the moment. But how are we supposed to get dry ? I was running about/also indoors and I was permanantly soaked. -
Hey all, In the last few weeks, getting to know where the items are spawning in all of the houses, which houses are "empty", etc. What I have noticed in the last week is that spawns that were prefectly good before are now spawning slightly lower in the Z dimension (ie vertical). For example - numberous houses/barns - cans of beans appearing to be Half into the floor. - In the contruction site, under the stairs is sometimes an axe - this I found floating, but 3/4 of the axe was embeeded into the stairs/wall. - and last night was a new one - when I had been killed, I was able to get back to my body. I was upstairs in a house, and my body was floating just under the ceiling of the ground floor. I know there was the discussion of finding the loot in the "empty houses" were spawning on the floor, but it would appear to be more wide spread that just the initial spawn for those houses. Anyone else seen this recent worsening of spawn behavior ? Cheers

Would you rather have more Zombies or gradually increase player count?

Order of Priority (my own opinion). 1. Respawning Items 2. Increase to Zombie hordes 3. Increase Player cap. Technically they may be able to achieve one sooner than the others, but I prefer this order. why? 1. I want items to be working, so there is no more server restarts/hopping for "normal" loot for survival. 2. More Zombies -> This will force people to work together more. Yes there will still be bandits/kos...BUT if there was an infestation of zombies in towns/bases, looting becomes more difficult by your self. Also if Airfields had 30+ zombie hordes, it becomes very much less profitable to server hop to clean out bases. 3. More zombies - More people = More fun. But you need the zombies first, so people will BAND together. -
I dislike server hopping...but I am doing it right now ! thanks for game crash, I logged into character with broken leg. Thankfully near medical house, so I am trying to server hop to find morphine. I have no intentions to crawl for 1+ hour to the next town.... I would just suicide, but I am on hardcore, and I did have char nicely geared up. So I dont want to suicide due to a dang game crash :( (note I am not hopping for weapons, etc - I just need morphine !)

Hey all, Just a question about the gameplay / strengths / Impact of Sniper in the game. After being on the receiving end and also being on the other side where I had sniper rifle with scope etc. I was really shocked how powerful sniper was. Get up into a hill, tall building and you can see a MASSIVE range. Looking down at areas where I thought I was being super stealthy, but infact were open and exposed to snipers. I do think it is a little "cheap", high impact with limited risk, high grief potential. that being said, it does bring another gameplay style/ element into the game. ie I do admit loving to go "counter sniper" and looking for the snipers. Is the sniper too powerful, or is this a core part of what makes the game great? How did the Mod handle this? Any idea if there has been any comments from Dean on the planned "scope" for snipers in a retail game? (yes this is alpha, so need to understand what is the "planned goal/role" for snipers in the end game. Also a question - does foilage offer any concealment from the long range sniper? I tried to examine this myself - when I am in sniper mode, and I zoom into areas, I only see things like Trees and Rocks. Grass/bushes etc are not there. -> Does that mean is someone was hiding in a bush, as a long range 500m+ meter range, this detail is lost and therefore people are clearly visible? And Please note - this is not a "whine post", I honestly would like to try to understand the role/target for sniper in the retail version of game. Thanks for your thoughts. -
Hey All, background to the reason I ask this question. Last night, I headed to NE airbase. I first wanted to do a sweep on the sniper hill area. While I was there (and a little lost) I saw I guy running towards me. We saw each other, backed off and started to talk. then I saw a second guy trying to circle arround me. I noted I saw there was 2+. Then from behind me another 2-3 people pop up. I explained I was going to NE airbase and first was checking on Snipers. They greeted me, noted they had seen a scope in nearby village for my mosin and wished me well on my way. I left (running to get out of line of sight - half expecting to get a bullet in the back). But nothing, everything was good. this group was very well geared up. So - What is their agenda I thought? They could easily have abused/killed me etc. but I was not a threat, nor an interest. What Do these types of organized squads actually do ? Hunting other squads ? clearing out villages and looting ? Interesting encounter, but a tad confused at the same time.

Well, I have dayz about a week now. I have tried a few times to get to visit all the main locations. Yesterday I made it to Balota airfield. Today I log in. I spend a good 5 minutes camped out on the edges, scouting with my freshly painted mosin + scope. No movement. Everthing looks good. I make my way (very cautiously) to the airtower (crawling/crouching). Make a little dash to get inside. All looks good.cautiously inside, head up, crouched up the stairs...and WIZZzzzz, breaking glass! A bullet over the head. Hit the floor, heart pounding. Crawl downstairs. Pulled out my magnum, prepared for a rush in. Nothing. 3 minutes pass. Nothing. I decided it was time to make a dash out, fast hook to the left, hit the ground. Again another Wiz, passed my head. I crawl from bush to bush. Gun shots all arround me (nothing hitting). I make it to better cover and then the dreaded message..... "You are unconscious". Pressed escape and was going to hit respawn....but I decided, wait. Not dead yet. 2 minutes pass, and I come too. Load up my magnum, playing possum. Assuming the sniper would come in to finish the job. Nothing. 2-3 more minutes pass. I continue my crawl out and into the woods. I escaped !! Checking my gear, I see my green raincoat is ruined, along with all the contents inside. No bleeding (strange). Does that mean my water bottle took the bullet impact? Anyway, heart pounding. I love it !

Same thing happened to me. I had full blood before hand thought. (I think, as I had healing on before hand and it was only Healthy status up). Nice to know it was from the tactical vest ! What vests can protect like this? -

Ahh thank you, I missed your post first time arround. Indeed, I wonder if this is the case. I would HOPE so, using your environment to camo should be just as effective in both close/long range. -

I do Love the mosin. Keeping it is a good thing. Question on the graphics - If someone is "hiding" in a bush -> from longer range is he visible? Short range (100-200 meters), you can be concealed by Med/heavy brush. From the limited play I have from Mosin + long range scope, I got the impression all med/heavy grass/brush/bushed are not visible. Trees/Rocks are there. But does this mean someone would "think" they are concealed in bushes (and they are for people nearby), but they are live bait for a sniper? Cheers -
Worked for me....running great. But I did die eventually - so if it was only Pre-patch gear, then it is a self solving issue ;) (so to say).

you know what ? Make them same or hold MORE slots...but only VERY VERY bright flashy colors. So you can choose style and stand out like a Pimp, fully locked and loaded ! Lol, I LOVE it -
As mentioned in another thead, when you melee, it is currently making bullet ricochet sounds. I always assumed this is what I hear myself, but others would not hear....but is this correct? If someone is nearby you, and you melee a zed. What do they hear (if anything) ? Thanks !

question - When you hear these sounds - is it only you? or do people nearby hear shooting sounds? I generally try to lkill Zeds with axe to try to remain stealthy and not to draw attention to myself. ...BUT.....if people arround hear melee as gunshots, then it is quite a waste/risk to do melee zeds. -
Hey All, Newbie here. Just wondering if there is an issue with the Ammo container ? I have had 2 times (yesterday) 2 Full Ammo Containers disappear from my inventory. ie 2 time x 2 containers. I put them on the ground, sorted through contents. put them back into backpack. did some stuff (about 5 mins) logged out. when I logged back in - Ammo containers were gone. I am thinking maybe it was because I had them on the ground, and it reverted me back to an earlier save? or just back luck. anyway - I am now a tad worried to use the ammo container if there is such a bug. Hate to lose so much ammo :(

Dropping on ground is a risk. but I did put on ground, waited for them to pop. they did. I move ammo between 2 boxes. Picked up and confirm they were in my inventory. I move off to log out into safe place. (probably less than 5 minutes between logout and moving ammo around in the boxes while on the ground) Later when I logged in, my boxes were gone, and my inventory in backpack was rearranged. So far, bug happened 2 times. (ie 2 times with 2 boxes each time). I tried to replicate yesterday (with 1 box), logging out within 2 minutes of picking up box, but (Thankfully) the box was still in my inventory when I logged back in.

Thanks for info. I am not complaining about Alpha. This IS ALPHA ;) bugs/rollbacks/issues are to be expected. I am just trying to figure out is it a silly mistake on my side, a bug (known/unknown) or possible server desync where I would revert back to previous known state. As to the holding in hand - Yes. I know this one. But as mentioned above - you do not see the full contents of the box when you do that. So if you want to swap things around, putting on ground is the only "effective" (and risky) way if you lack inventory space. Cheers, Thanks for the info guys !

Hi all, New player here, I did check and I did not see any info (maybe I missed it). Is there any timing/info on when the respawning of items is going to be done? Love the game, but it is quite difficult to keep alive and gear up when everything is looted/houses empty. I see the comments - head inland. Yes. I do...but those first 15-30 minutes are quite a challenge when you have no food/water/protection from zombies/bandits. So far, the only way to find anything was this "server hopping" lark. Which is not fun. I prefer to get on a server and stay there. But given chose of life/death with no food/water/rags - what choice do you have? anyway - love the game/concept. Looking forward to see how this develops and what additions will be made!
