OP is barking up the wrong tree, as usual. -
Should I buy Arma II? I mean I will basically be getting it just for DAY Z
Dingus (DayZ) replied to Lepryy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If it doesn't bother you to drop $30 on an alpha test, then go for it. I would advise you to enjoy the main game of Arma 2 however. -

Just swam to Skalisty Island
Dingus (DayZ) replied to Albatros (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A thought held by half the people playing the game at one point or another, I imagine. I still have my dreams of a beach house on Skalisty. Good luck, friend. -
So, I finally encountered the bone-breaking door today
Dingus (DayZ) replied to DoshDosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I remember that. I was prone, and I decided to open the door to a small building and it hit me in the head, knocked me out, and I bled to death while unconscious. -
Such is life in Day Z. Re hatchet vs players: If you're a great sneaker it works wonders against snipers. It's also incredibly damaging. Sometimes it's worth it to zig zag your way to a player to make the swipe. Good luck.

Well, I don;t know if it's been stopped yet, but there was some Russian guy streaming a hack or whatever that allowed him to see the locations of players, vehicles, and tents. At the very least, someone with this could see their truck was in motion and get to it asap. But I don't know if it still a problem.

Correct. If you drop something on an incline, it can sometimes clip into the ground and get lost, because the item itself will lay flat whether you like it or not. As for space for weapons, I think primary weapons take up 6 spaces? Someone may need to correct me. If you have the space, then sure, you could put the gun in the bag or something. I love the hatchet myself and when I'm just starting, find myself torn between it and the other weapons I find.

Or was it an admin hacking? ~~~

How long until You have to drink/eat ?
Dingus (DayZ) replied to maxxenbraxxen's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I find it is largely effected by your activity. If you are just straight up hauling ass running (like looking for tents) then you almost need both every 20 minutes. if you are proning around and generally moving slower, it can be an hour or two. This is the biggest factor I've noticed, but I'm sure there are others. -
It's not that simple. At the top right of the screen you should be able to see in some green text, the firing mode you are in. If you have a rifle, it may say semi/burst or something. Pressing 'F' changes that firing mode. You want to change it to 'throw' then press your fire key, mousebutton whatever, to throw it. Holding down fire will create a more powerful throw. You do not need to equip it. it only needs to sit in your inventory, like a flare would. As for your hatchet issue, you need to have inventory space to put the rifle. If you equip the hatchet, where does the rifle go? I tend to simply drop my primary weapon to use my hatchet when I need to, then return the hatchet to toolbelt and pick my weapon back up.

Well, thanks for letting me know.

TROLLOLorry! Seattle 102
Dingus (DayZ) replied to Reth (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I love finding these kind of things. I'm telling you, who cares about NW anymore when people have phat camps around. -
Is camo clothing bugged too? I thought it was just Ghillie.
-
No. At present it exists as a distraction item to zombies. Press 'F' to select the 'Throw' option in weapons. This is for any junk items you can throw, cans or bottles. yes, works just like a grenade, minus the explosion.

Playing with friends = good for the community?
Dingus (DayZ) replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's a commendable pursuit, but people will get defensive over the potential inability to play with folks who they have played games with for years. I want to see more team building in Day Z as well, but I don't believe it would be far to somehow handicap me because I have relationships outside of Day Z. -
Test, Going in tonight and will shout friendly at all...
Dingus (DayZ) replied to Miss_Nuts's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Oh, I'm sorry. What I mean to say is that the act of "being a good person" is just that. There are no strings or benefits attached to encourage that decision. I think, despite it's flaws, that is a beautiful aspect of the game. When you encounter someone being helpful, you know that they must really be genuinely good. With no strings attached, you experience true intentions, rather than someone helping you because they want something out of some in game reward system. This of course exempting the idea that you could be deceived.
