Pvp, PvE, DM and so forth...........
Dingus (DayZ) replied to Michaelvoodoo25's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It would be boring and pointless as it is now. In PvE you need clear goals. Survival from starvation/dehydration is not in itself enough of a goal to drive the title. I believe it is survival from other players that carries it. I'm not super big pvp man myself, but the act of keeping a low profile, the pressure to, is what makes the game for me. Seeing people in the distance and deciding to take the shot or move in another direction. Zombies are cool, but they aren't smart enough or threatening enough to carry the title on their own. IMO -
Pvp, PvE, DM and so forth...........

It's not "Day Z" if you segregate "friendlies" from "bandits." That's the simple truth of it. -
Daily removal of tents/vehicles saved outside of the map
Dingus (DayZ) replied to -Cdn-Chard's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Only if unused. I don't care, because I find them anyway. -
What is DayZ Sanctuary?
Dingus (DayZ) replied to thefreindlyoldman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Someone must have made a modified mission of the mod. It is likely not at all connected to the Day Z official hive servers, so any progress gained there will be limited to there. -
Those things you do when you're bricking it...
Dingus (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't even aim anymore. I just fire a "warning" shot and watch them disappear. -
Oh no, not me. I can admit I'm more carebear than most. In all the time I've played this game I can't count on more than one hand the times I have killed someone in cold blood.

UnderGround Base or Living Area Disccusion
Dingus (DayZ) replied to logan23's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My number 1 concern for his idea, as much as I like it, is how the transition from surface to underground would occur. Where are these bunks, or even places building would be allowed, located? Using the same map on all servers, would not everyone know all these locations anyway? Can more than one instance/base be build from the same 'access point?' If a base is built large enough, could it make contact with or bump into other bases? Once these kinds of logistics are ironed out, I would feel more comfortable fantasizing on what my 'vault' would be like. I loved the concept; it just seems far out. I especially liked him discussing the possibility to have hydroponic farms underground or other means of self-sustainability. -

Disagree, but I respect your opinion. -

This game won't be popular at release
Dingus (DayZ) replied to mkrrr's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I know everyone is sick of hearing "alpha," but too many judgement are occurring before the game has even become feature rich. That said, it is entirely believable that someone would find it unplayable, but there is no room for doom-saying at this stage. There really isn't. -
Well, I just wouldn't crucify him is all. Maybe from here on he'll consider that. Maybe he won't.
-
Nice thread. (not really)
-
Did you actually read his post? He regrets it. He is expressing an emotion the game made him feel. He's not bragging.

Xsplit+beer+dayz+open mic+terrible bandit lollllll
Dingus (DayZ) replied to exile166's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
That was hilarious. -
That's what I think the game is about. Decisions. you may never know what that player's intentions were with you, but you had to make a decision and you chose self-preservation over risk. When taken like that, rather than "hurr kill everyone," the game is incredibly beautiful to me. I have 1 murder on my current life, and I regret it immensely, but I'm alive. well written post by the way, outside of formatting, very descriptive

Understanding Bohemia Interactive's Clusterf***
Dingus (DayZ) replied to Hellrabbit's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah it can be a little confusing. I agree. The problem really is that they have been releasing these games for years now, and the rapid success and popularity of Day Z has thrust many new buyers into an assortment of products that, had they been around from the start, they'd find more readily navigable. You seem to have it down though. Day Z requires Arma 2 (arma free is ok from what I understand), arma 2 OA (not free), and the arma 2 beta patches (free). There are other DLC and add-ons that may improve your experience in Day Z by adding textures and the like, but are not necessary. Arma 2: Combined Operations includes the original Arma 2 and Arma 2: OA in one package. -
Yes yes, those lol.

Both the male and female mouth are anatomically equal, so technically...

I haven't ridden one yet cause I read horror stories of them lifting off to space and killing everyone.

To the Devs/ Duping Glitch in 1.7.2.3
Dingus (DayZ) replied to sempifer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is correct. Whenever this game goes retail or f2p or whatever, everything will likely be wiped and then that kind of thing would be important. Thanks for reporting such things though! Super important! -
But in order to have a mother-in-law he would have to have met a lady and married her already.

Please stop.

yeah, I guess you're right. At this point I know what buildings are open and not by just looking at them. I also remember when you spawned with a weapon. When spawning without one was introduced it never seemed like a big deal to me.
