DAYZ. what happens in the game will happen in real life.
Dingus (DayZ) replied to tfninja's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not to defend religion, but this isn't a good argument. Kings and leaders use religion as a tool to stir their masses. All those wars through history were led by guys who really knew what they were doing the whole time. There would be no crusades without a rich Vatican trying to get richer. Are we slaughtering non-believers to spread our faith or our influence? People can believe what they want, but bad people use that belief and twist it to get what they want out of believers. I guess it is kind of like the gun thing. Did the gun kill the person or did the gunman? This is just my take on it. -
Are you freakin' KIDDING me?!

It's just the quintessential "I dunno that's just Day Z" image right now. But I'll stop. You're the first complaint. -

The Future Of DayZ (Discussion) [Warning: Long Post]
Dingus (DayZ) replied to Trajado's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Because people are supposed to learn from mistakes. We have also gladly provided mounds of information in the form of bug reports and complaints that have probably helped add to the development of the Arma 3 engine in preparation for this stand-alone. -
The Future Of DayZ (Discussion) [Warning: Long Post]
Dingus (DayZ) replied to Trajado's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The game is stagnant. There are numerous bugs and errors that are admittedly unsolvable due to the engine. We are waiting for a stand-alone right now in a new engine that will suit the needs of the game. The stand-alone will have features not everyone will like, but most will tolerate in order to welcome both friendlies and bandits. This is how I see it. -
A lot of bandits would love to have something to wear as a badge; a lot that I know, anyway. Being a bandit is really easy right now, and those that are playing the game for challenge look at this fondly.

TO THE MOTHERFUCKING JEEP DRIVING BITCH
Dingus (DayZ) replied to DayZchamp's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No, i want developers to make a new function in game to allow me to run just a wee bit faster for a minuscule amount of time on a cooldown; so that once in every blue moon when I even see someone driving a vehicle, I can run out in front of it to get the opportunity to use that skill. -

Your Shoot On Sight Threshold?
Dingus (DayZ) replied to Taggert1313's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is my procedure for encounters with strangers. Short Range (bump into them in the woods or just not paying attention) At this point they must have little interest in a fight, they aren't shooting yet. 1. Immediately take cover. 2. Direct Coms, ask clearly regarding their hostility a. If there is movement but no response ----------------------------------> FIRE b. No response, but no movement, wait longer i. Still nothing ---------------------------------------------------------------> FIRE 3. Response is friendly, negotiate terms to have a safe separation a. Refusal or silence ----------------------------------------------------------> FIRE 4. Separate and wish safe journeys 5. Stop somewhere and wait a few to see if I'm being followed. Medium to Long Range (scouting or playing overwatch) 1. Are they in a sniping position that threatens me or my teammates? Can't risk it. -> FIRE 2. Are they running in a direction away from me or my teammates? Let go but watch. 3. Are they running towards my teammates position? a. Alert team to take defensive position, team will alert target through direct coms to stay away. i. Watching the target, if he listens and leaves, cool. Maybe even some friendly banter. ii. If he continues on his path -------------------------------------------------------------> FIRE 4. Are they running towards me? Can't risk it. -----------------------------------------------> FIRE I know these aren't the perfect or most fair set of guidelines, but it has kept me and my team safe, and kept our murders low. Following these guidelines, for the last month, we have only ever gotten 5 murders between all of us and 3 bandit kills. I don't like getting murders, but who knows if they were bandits in the making or respawning bandits. I just don't and can't know for sure. I try my best to give the benefit of the doubt. Most altercations are completely avoided with active use of direct coms. Most people I encounter are not looking for trouble. -
There is no solution until there are standardized official servers.

It's only a 15 minute jog from the beach, maybe less. Maybe he did his research on where to gear up before playing.

I don't scout for very long. At some point, you've seen all there is to see and you're just waiting for someone to arrive, which cannot be predicted. I haven't played solo for a while though. I have been overwatch for my group, so I guess you could say it's like a permanent scout.

We use cardinal directions in Arma. Left doesn't mean much when people could be oriented in any possible way.
-
If you got shot, you probably have "shock" which will give you a 5 minutes unconscious timer to bleed out in. This is to prevent people d/cing to avoid combat. I'm not sure how bleeding works exactly, but I have had some bleeds go a lot faster than others, so I cannot predict how much time you have to bleed out. I think it may work in a stacked nature, like taking multiple attacks and bleeding from multiple wounds. I really don't know though. Most often I lose about 1k blood during the process of bandaging.

It happens. It'll be back eventually, maybe after another restart. I just hope you waited for a restart to occur before actually trying to use them to store things. If not, they will return empty. -
Congratulations Community, You have become scum.

Hackers suck, sure, but I don't understand this part. Did we create a community based mod or something... which I guess is disrespectful of rocket? -edit- nevermind then... yeah hackers suck... news flash.
