When I just talk about it with someone who knows it, I call it day-zee. But when I explain the game to someone who doesn't know it yet, I say "day-zee, or day-zed, depending how you want to say it,...". I think of it as some sort of inside-joke; when someone who doesn't know it listens to me talking about the game he probably thinks: "daisy, zombies, survival? Da-hell is he talking about?!" Irritating strangers ftw!!

I think there's sooner or later a point for every dayz-player where he realizes this. Mine was when I was stalking two players (gas masks, m4s, camo-clothing, mountain packs (on hardcore? Realy guys?)) at the coast to see if they are bandits or not. After 15 min I saw another guy 5 meters I front of me stalking the same guys, unaware of me. But after this realization (which inspired my sig) and with the fact that I rarely, if ever, get shot randomly, I figured that most peoble either avoid or watch me when they see me. So players are maybe much friendlier then some peoble think.

Although you literally just described me (German named Felix, trying to be friendly), after I watched the video i realized that it was someone else. But still, yes there are friendlies in dayz, but in my experience the hardcore servers are friendlier than regular servers, since most of the cod-children that just want a deathmatch want to use 3pp.

Advocating gamma exploit is not received good in the forums.

I've experienced that many peoble ignore the warehouse/stables at the cost. I've found my SKS, fireaxe and hoodie in those buildings south of solonichiy at a otherwise looted cost.

Nice story, i hope you learned from that that its better to talk first when seeing someone. Good luck in your next DayZ (got it?) and dont let those KoS's discourage you. Just be carefull.

Cant belive i registered finaly after lurking since "release" just to awnser this. Lets imagine this senario: You're realy good geared up, big backpack, west, big pants,big shirt, firefighter axe, your prefered guns with plenty of ammo, healthy, two full canteens, hopefully no food (whatch this if you want to know why: youtu.be/GwNgTnj9hBE), med-suplies, compass, you get the idea. Now you are getting robbed, meaning you're at gunpoint from someone behind you, no way you can turn around at shoot without being shoot yourself, You... a) do want the bandit(s) want, they take your guns, some meds, MAYBE your west, maybe switch their empty canteens. You still have (most) of your inventory slots, maybe your axe, good clothing, your healthy state (what means you've got plenty of time getting water and food) and most of your stuff since they cant take all of it! b ) try to shoot him/them, get killed, become a fresh-spawn with a nothing but 4 inventory slots, two rags (your shirt) and a flashlight with a battery. c) do a) and they kill you anyway. Did I miss anything? Because if not, I surrender any time if I cant see who's robbing me. EDIT: added c) after reading sacrdandprofne's post. My point is still vaild as if you surrender there's at least a chance that you survive.
