  1. Has this been suggested/talked about yet? (and assuming that the mechanics and labeling are even possible in the game) Seems that it would make sense you can repair a piece of clothing or bag with duct tape. Make it a temp. fix, though. Length of time the repair lasts depends on the grade of tape used, and the item condition deciding how much of the roll is used. Tape condition: badly damaged = repair lasts 3 real hours, after which repaired item goes back to its previously unrepaired state/quality tier. worn= repair lasts 5 real hours pristine = repair lasts 8 real hours Tape cost (item condition): badly damaged--> worn= 1 full roll worn-->pristine= 1/2 roll. If you dont have the tape amount required, repair isnt possible. This would add some flexiblity to people's looting. Obviously an undamaged (pristine) previously unrepaired piece of clothing or bag will be more desireable then one that's been temp. fixed. (and hopefully the game has the ability to differentiate between origional pristine and repaired pristine) Thoughts? suggestions or revisions?
  2. Figured i'd start a topic for players (especially newer ones who find their first piece of good gear) to brag about their good finds. Plus im a lil' happy about finding 5/7 gear pieces i was still looking for, before leaving my farming spot and going back to exploring. So i wanna brag a bit. GOOD finds. Dont spam with every can of beans you find, or every taloon backpack ;) Da' goodz i found tonight: Khaki UK assault vest, pristine / TTsKO pants, prinstine / T3N RDS optics, pristine / FNX45 pistol, pristine / FNX45 mag, pristine. Also found another 50rnds of ammo for my m4, now have over 200. Just need to luck out with a pristine NV spawn,RIS handguard (to replace the basic plastic one i have now) and im buggin out for a bit. :D

    Children

We could call em' anklebiters B)

    Children

As others have said, w/ the current ability to degrade/harass/kill other players, adding children as a playable avatar is just asking for trouble. Now i wouldnt mind seeing child ZOMBIES put into the game(its supposed to be a real world zombocalypse simulator, and spoiler alert..children are a part of our world) but i doubt we'll even get that.
  5. Ouch. I had a pristine long-ranged scope for the mosin i found before the m4. Since i ditched the mosin a cple days ago, threw away the scope before i logged out to save some backpack space >.>
  6. My biggest zombie killing feat was taking out a group of 4 (2 reg, and 2 soldier zeds) with a worn pipewrench :D Though yeh.. splitting axe/fire axe's should be your priority melee weapon, since they can kill zeds in 1-2 hits. I'd prob still be scrambling around on the east side of the map, if i didnt find a compass that helped me get west and into military sites.

    Using the 300 round box

Isnt the box bugged right now, though? I've read about it having a bad habbit of disapearing on logout(and not coming back when you log back in), taking any ammo stored inside with it..

    Food/drink condition

Is there any benefit to eating a pristine can of -whatever-, vs eating one thats badly damaged? Increased chance of getting sick from the dinged up can of food/water/soda? you get less servings from a less-then-quality item?

    Food/drink condition

I've heard/read that eating rotten fruit will make you sick, and thus players(bandits) have taken to using them on tied-up victims/unconscious victims. And since this game is trying to be as realistic as possible, makes sense that outright rotten food would be bad for you. Havnt heard/or read anything about the condition-effect of canned food though.. hence my question.

    Food/drink condition

Eating rotten fruit is never a good idea >.> Though ive yet to see a negative effect from eating a worn/badly damaged can of food, though. Was just wondering if there is a drawback to that now, or if its planned to put in the chance of..say..food poisoning, depending on the can's condition.

    Food & Drink?

Thats why you should get in the habbit of eating/drinking everything you can get your hands on, until: A. Your status is "healthy" (as seen next to your character in the inventory screen). After that, eat/drink occasionally to keep your levels up, also depending on how much physical exertion you put yourself thru. B. You get the message that your stomach is full and cant hold anymore (keep eating/drinking, and you'll puke, costing you energy/hydration) Sometime down the line, we'll have wildgame animals to hunt as well, so there's other food sources on the way (maybe we'll get the ability to fish, too).

    Food & Drink?

Think you have me confused for the OP :P I know the shirt trick (though ive yet to find any disinfectant that supposedly makes the rags completely safe for bandaging). Also forgot to mention that screwdrivers can open cans as well, so if you find one, keep it. You'll spill some of the food, but 60-75% of a can of beans is better then no beans at all, when yer hungry :D

    Food & Drink?

As others have said, it was a combo of bad luck and somebody getting there first. And they are right on the door thing. It means that somebody has been there first, but it dosnt automaticly mean the place has been picked clean of anything usefull. Remember to lay down and check under beds, check behind the open door, corners, ect ect. Loot isnt always out in the open, staring you in the face. As far as food/water go, eat everything you can get your hands on/open. You'll get a message saying something along the lines of "my stomach is full/i feel really stuffed" when you cant hold anymore food. Your body is a much more efficient holder of what foot/water provides (energy/hydration) then your bag. I'd go with a ratio of roughly 60%food/40% water. Canned goods give you both food energy and some hydration. Dry food (such as cereal) will lower your hydration, so only eat those if you -have- to, or have a water source on hand to go along w/ it. Im keeping a cple cans of soda/canteen full of water on me, and a cple tins of sardines just incase i run into a streak of bad looting-luck, but the bulk of my pack space is my melee weapon and ammo for my gun. Maybe ill store my rainjacket in there once i find a suitable military shirt/vest.

    DayZ is peaceful

Name's Jason, both in game and irl. Been playing it safe while i learn the game (tried the arma mod of this, clunky-confusing inventory/managment prevented me from really exploring the mod. Standalone seems to be doing a better job of it, though) and keeping to lowpop servers, also using this alone-ness to try and get geared up. FINALLY found an m4, so now i have some ranged potential. Been farming a military base past cple days for gearing puprposes, almost ready to head back out and start exploring again. Decided against trying to meet people, as the nature of the game turns allot of players paranoid, if not outright bean/pants stealin' bandits. Especially in this early stage, when there's not much else to do besides explore and shoot other players. I have no intentions of going bandit myself, but it just takes 1 bullet from somebody else to make you start over, and i was lucky enough to find a compass that let me get west, where all the good lot area's are currently >.> As the saying goes (that i modified for dayz): "you either die as a survivor/hero, or you live long enough to see yourself turn into a bandit" :D
