Completely agreed. I want a game where there isn't really any military gear at all, just a bunch of hunting rifles and target-shooting handguns with civi clothes and backpacks, but that's never gonna happen...

I have found many friendlies in DayZ, in just 130 hours. This is an awesome story, though. I would say more, but it's late, I'm tired, I need sleepy sleep, nighty, night.

Pre-patch. This happened almost two weeks ago, I recorded it though, so I just watched it yesterday. I sadly deleted the video clearing up my desktop today, though :(

Yeah, I can tell you a story. We had a really great time on a 35 player server on sniper hill near Elektro. It started off with me and my 2 buddies, two of us had mosins with pristine Long range scopes, and one of us had an M4 with mostly pristine parts. I had a mosin with a long range scope. My sniper buddy went prone and we started to look into Elektro. When all of a sudden, we heard a gunshot, we turned our scopes towards where we thought it came from, and I judged right, my other friend didn't see them. We saw three guys with shotguns, we knew they didn't have much loot, but they did kill a bambi, so I wanted to kill them. I unfortuanately forgot to zero my scope, so I had the zeroing set at 600 meters from when I was covering my friends at NEAF. I didn't notice this until after they slipped away, I fired around 8 shots before they got into cover, so everyone on the server probably knew where we were. A few moments later we heard footsteps near us, so me and my sniper bud fell back a bit, pulling out our Pistols. CJ "M4 dude" Fired a couple shots, and took down the guy we heard. He strangely had an orange backpack and a shotgun, just like the guys I shot at... It was strange because only one came up... We changed positions after that, we moved closer to the far side of sniper hill away from Elektro, at this time I had fixed my zeroing. We saw a guy with an M4 shooting at people in Elektro, so I took the shot and saw him fall. I then moved again, as I didn't want to get shot in the back. I was just scouting out Elektro when all of a sudden I heard a ton of M4 shots near me and my friends were screaming on skype "Shit, shit, we're being shot at, dammit!!!" My friends then say "I'm dead", so I'm the only one left. I then took out my FNX hoping to sneak up on the dude that was looting my friend's bodies. I walked around for a while, mostly rolling, then I heard some footsteps, then a shot from a mosin. It was the same guy that shot my friends, gas-mask with a red beret and olive tac-shirt. I came up behind him and cuffed him. I then messed with him for a while, because I was mad that he shot my friends. After taking his weapons, and keeping and/or hiding them in bushes, I then went over to him, shot him in the legs to break them, then I unlocked his cuffs. I let him crawl around down to Elektro... After that I took a bullet right in the face, I didn't hear what kind of gun it was, presumably because it was a headshot... Anyway, this is one of the best experiences I've had in DayZ, even though I ended up dying. I hope you'll be able to experience something like this, too, when you come home. Beautiful gun, is it a .22??? Honestly, judging by your character, I'd probably kill you on sight unless I was behind cover and could talk to you. This is only because the bike helmet and the lack of a backpack. Normally if someone has a hunting backpack I think "Military guy, probably Hostile, be cautious and try to take him/her out". When I see someone with taloon or Mtn backpack, I think "Civillian, probably not too dangerous, but keep my eyes open". When I see someone with a hunting backpack, but no other military gear, like you, I think "They killed someone to get that pack, eliminate them immediately.". Just my opinion, but I'm sure many others think the same way, watch your back out there ;)

Your character looks like the nicest character on DayZ!!! If I ran into you I think I would rush to shove wet runny 5 year old Tuna in your mouth, that's how nice of a person I am, and how friendly your character looks. I want to get a white check shirt like that, but that messes up my all-black uniform. By the way, how do you post screenshots of your character??? I want to post my gear but I have no idea how to post screenshots, can someone PM me or quote my post telling me how? (Make sure you quote so it goes in my notifications). Thanks guys!

Haha, my other buddy from NJ didn't think it was so funny ^^ He was screaming at me "You shot *Name of friend* in the head, you fu**ing shot him you asshole!!! Now I'm gonna shoot you in the leg" I then heard the crack of his mosin, turns out he was just trolling me *wipes sweat off head*. Oh I have the best friends ever.......

It could be a good idea, if it was implemented correctly. There are a few problems with it. First of all, look at the post above me. Second of all, it would be a stupid way to die, you could just set up outside of stary, then BOOM. Everyone's dead. It would be good if Mortars had about a .05% chance of spawning, and shells had a 2% chance of spawning. This is just my opinion, but everyone can say what they want about it ;)

Hehe...... He is a noob to the game, he just got it yesterday. I heard that the Amphibia was a 1 shot KO to the head no matter what they had on their head. He was lagging really bad, and I decided to shoot his face to "Knock him out". Turns out the Amphibia is a 1 shot kill to the head... Unless you're wearing head protection... He died..

Good luck out in deployment mate. Anyway, my opinion of the new patch??? It's great! I love the new patch, even though many people complain. Adding new guns and features is awesome, and I feel that making the zombies very difficult is a very good thing. My friends have died a lot from the new patch, including when I shot my friend in the head... Anyway though, it's really a good patch in my opinion, but everyone thinks otherwise. Love dat sarcasm, Bruh. Seriously, it feels like a full release game compared to other really crappy games.

I don't actually care much about getting out of Alpha, the way DayZ has set up the game makes it feel like a full game already... I really don't think DayZ will get a huge amount of sales when it gets into beta/full release...

You right click on DayZ in your steam, go to "Properties" Go to the "Beta" section or whatever it's called. Then click "Opt in Experimental/beta" or something like that. It then updates your game, which will take a while. To go back to stable you do the same thing, except click "Opt out of beta/experimental"

I forgot to say that I actually wanted to be friends with them, I thought about inviting them to join me and my buddies later, yet they betrayed me. *sigh* At least I got a mosin out of it, I still have that Mosin in this current life ^^

I doubt he speaks words. He's probably a 7 year old who has just learned how to post Gifs on the internet, and just can't wait to use them.

Hah, this sounds like an epic plan. When the delivery men are late, you call the bandit clan to murder them on their next trip, then the delivery men call the heros to take out the bandits, then the medics help everyone and the cycle repeats it's self!!! BAD DELIVERY MAN ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Am I the only one that absolutely loves the way they have it right now??? I don't want a bunch of fresh spawns gearing up at Balota 5 minutes after they spawn! I don't want bambis knocking me out when I'm in Stary and taking my loot! We don't need Devs to work on useless spawning areas, and instead they should devote all their time to making camps, vehicles, and fixing bugs/glitches! I know I sound quite aggressive right now, and I don't want you to think I'm being mean :p But seriously, I really don't think that it would be a good idea to change spawns. Cheers mate.

Trading would be a good idea, I believe they had that in the mod, right?? It would be nice to have limited trading, though. Being able to trade for anything would be too overpowered. I think trading for food, water, and ammo would be very nice.

I say again, your tactics are horrible, and you are a part of the group that ruins DayZ for many people. Bandits are terribly annoying, and ruin all your progress without so much as a hello. If you're going to KoS, at least talk to them after you knock them unconscious or kill them, seriously.

This is off-topic, as you said, but in my opinion you should go with win7, if you don't mind a little less frame-rate. Performance-wise, win8 will do better, but win7 is so much more user-friendly. Also, from my experience, win8 is a bit buggy and I click to desktop too many times. It's all up to you, but that's my opinion.

Your tactics are horrible. You stand in an open window shooting the loudest gun in the game, in the biggest city in the game. One person hears you and it's very bad news for you, though I'd imagine you log out right away.

Haha, I'm the smartest gamer alive!!! I still learn new things in every game I play no matter how many hours I have. I have 400 hours on Tf2, yet I don't understand half of the game ._.
