Look, someone connected all the in-game signage and stitched it all together in a post....

A very funny. But bad hacker on GB #500

Here is a recipe for the game you want: 1) Kill your character and respawn. 2) Throw all your gear on the ground. 3) Turn your brightness and gamma all the way DOWN. 4) Run through Cherno at night on a maxed 50+ppl server screaming in Direct Comms. 5) Survive...

I have played DayZ extensively with Colten. I found that from day one he rubbed EVERYONE in SoH the wrong way. I suggest you allow Colten into your clan if you are looking for the following: 1) Backstabber - when Colten left the group because he didn't get his way, he posted information about clan campsites on the dayzmod forums. 2) Griefer - after posting the information in #1, he then proceeded to target and harass members of SoH. 3) Poison Pill - during his stay with SoH, he constantly whined about people who disagreed or didn't like him, accusing them of being moles in the organization (trying to incite internal conflict within the group) 4) Leech - whined and complained about the resources available to him, asking others to give him stuff. (this list above is only what I personally experienced. there are countless anecdotes about Colten within SoH. additionally, I managed to not use profanity while reporting this, which is an accomplishment given the Colten legacy I have experienced...) In short, if Colten is 21, he is very immature and spoiled for his age and definitely not a team player. It was so bad, that after he left, I changed my clan tag from ~{SoH}~ to [NCA] for a day or two. (NCA = "No Coltens Allowed")

Screen shots of results of hackers. Shot of boat in cherno (spawn time unknown) Parachuting buses - spawn time approx 10PM EDT on Aug 14, 2012. Oh... and getting in one of the buses killed me instantly.
-
It was on the list of fixes, but it didn't work. Magazines still refill as of 1.7.2.4. If you want to 'ironman' it, just keep track of your clip level when you disconnect and fire down to that level after a reconnect.

Where: North of soccer field (military spawns) in Berenzino. When: Daytime in server, not dusk or dawn, not facing sun. 7/29/2012. Seattle 123 and other 1.7.2.4 servers. What: Right mouse click zoom in on soccer field causes graphical glitches. Also, approaching soccer field unzoomed at some point results in glitch. Same issues with hospital area of Berenzino. How: Video settings in computer such that without zooming in, the soccer field shows up as empty and devoid of the tents, camo netting, etc.... Zoomed: Unzoomed
-
For me and my buddy this issue happened in Berezino (1.7.2.4) with the military tents when zooming in on them and then same when zooming in on hospital, so military related diagnosis (tents or static soldier models, etc...) is probably correct. I tried all sorts of video quality and feature shenanigans trying to get it to go away, but no luck. We hopped servers and still no fix. I experienced this once before in 1.7.1.5 when looking toward the sun while in Cherno or Elektro.

Hunger and Thirst not realistic?!?!?!
jwo7777777 replied to Thehairyosama's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like the idea of the screen shaking from hunger to simulate low blood sugar. This effect can be similar to the one that needs painkillers, but would be fixed instead by eating. -

It does not take a mean machine to "max out" Arma:CO It might if you want multiple monitors on multiple graphics cards (which supposedly arma chokes on anyway) Here are my machine specs... and it plays just fine at 1680x1050x32bit-colors: Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) Service Pack 1 3.65 gigahertz AMD Phenom II X2 560 (run-of-the-mill dual core) BIOSTAR Group TA870+ (average m-board) 12288 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory (way overkill just to run Arma ... or anything for that matter) AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series [Display adapter] (1GB of GDDR5 memory) 40GB solid state drive (unnecessary) 400W power supply Mid tower case and quiet fans other hard drives/monitor/keyboard/mouse Headset with microphone (need one if you want to play with buddies ... helps coordination tremendously via teamspeak or steam voice chat) ISP connection: low end DSL (3mbps down/800kbps up)

There is a slight chance, anytime an infected successfully attacks you, of picking up the "cough". Other ways of contracting it include body temperature too low and proximity to a "coughing" player. -
actually' date=' the trick to playing dayz with good gear is to not get good gear. m1911 and a enfield is all u really need along with normal binoculars. for military stuff, i guess u can go get a AK from somewhere. u dont need all of that top of the line stuff. [/quote'] You're both right. (although I know james ... he is not more right for that). Reliance on high end gear leads to reliance on equipment to get you out of a pickle you should not be nibbling. Me.... I subscribe to matches, knife, hatchet, bandages, and running away. As for james being right ... 1.7.1 ... and I need say no more ... (and please don't tell me I am a whiner ... and it's alpha ... blah, blah, blah .... I am a loyal guinea pig for Rocket as are the rest of you. if we don't squeal, he don't know the extent of the issues)

The problem is not with the game mechanics or balance. It. Is. The. Player. Attitude. And when you kill a bandit... all he does is have to start over. It doesn't make him consider "how wrong he is not to play cooperatively." Griefers will grief, cooperators will cooperate, goof-offs will goof, and solo survivors will solo. And there will always be people in multiplayer who just want to shoot other players because they cannot/will not in real life. Even if you make it so that their character gets DayZ herpes with their first murder ... you are going to have players that want to kill another player just to find out what DayZ herpes is. And what it does to their character. Just like in real life people commit suicide by police ...

Main weapons are ten slots. Sidearms are 5 slots. -
ArmA developers themselves said third person is legitimate BECAUSE a real person has tactile awareness of closeness of things around them. The nearest the ArmA engines can get is to offer 3rd person. They encourage use of 3rd person for understanding the position of the players body in relation to surroundings.

Interesting game mechanic idea. I propose a modification. Have the location still saved to the hive, but have the hive add the server ID to it. When a non-matching server asks for the player data, then have the hive send an out-of-bounds location value. Change the server code to do the spawn as per your idea when it receives out-of-bounds locations. (Why do it this way? Prevents server side hacks that may bypass the relocated spawn directive and place the player at their desired location rather than a coast spawn. If the server never receives the player's desired location from server hopping, they are not likely to guess it.) Did search. Didn't find exact methods suggested here. Rejected by whom? Players? LOL.
-
Make it an option, then. Those who want to "man up" can choose to spawn naked. The point of the simulation is individual experience, not trying to weed out new players who don't like "Nintendo-hard" experiences. Alternately, if you think it is too easy: Everyone gets a starting weapon and you can choose to spawn in, throw all your stuff on the ground, and only allow yourself to crawl while screaming in direct connect.

Hive 1: All servers with friendly fire turned on. Hive 2: All servers with friendly fire turned off. By implication, those who want the full experience play on servers with ff on. Bandit averse people play on servers with ff off. Characters cannot migrate, preventing contamination of ff on servers with people who jumped to ff off servers to gain gear. Therefore each UID can have two characters, one on the ff on and one on the ff off.

Our priorities are different. This is a good thing. Each of us brings a different perspective on this game. I did have lots of shot term suggestions. Then I actually read the forum instructions, searched the posts, and found that someone had already posted the same or similar idea. There was no need to rehash the subjects. To actually answer your question ... no. The game is in alpha. While in alpha, even the long term, basic game play and goals of the game are still subject to change. Once in beta, the devs focus on polishing the bugs out of the game and rarely touch the gameplay.
