    Then they wouldn't be bandits ... they would be reasonable characters who understood that patient and thoughtful play is just as valid as rape/pillage/loot.

    Everytime I am lost wandering in a low population, low wildlife, zed infested hellhole I worry intensely about water-borne contagion, don't you. Hooray for canteens, but no drinking from ponds? Really? Phblatttt.

    Make Zeds investigate when audio-detected

    We all have strong ideas and high hopes for a mod that is still admittedly in alpha. I am with you in this issue, though, that zeds need a wider range of responses to seeing things and hearing things. It is understandable that presently they are fairly digital, given that it is basically a labor of spare time love from rocket that we even have this mod. They are rather limited in that when annoyed, they just want to kill you. Whatever happened to apathetic or disinterested zeds? I see those all the time where I work...

    Obviously you misunderstand by thinking that suggestions are only for immediate, short term changes in the gameplay. Multiple hives is more of a long term gameplay suggestion.

    Backpack Access Requests

    I disagree with an accept/deny to backpack access (don't nerf PvP interactions just because some people don't like the risk of stealing). BUT, how about a different sound and a delay when someone is trying to get into it. That way you have an opportunity to understand that someone is trying to access your backpack.

    Game too easy.

    Sorry that some of you are finding it way too easy to do stuff. Some of us who like the game are becoming extremely frustrated with the difficulty level. People have different skill levels. I for one am quite happy to head into the woods and live off the land. But guess what? I cannot forage for food or firewood, cannot start a fire without the mythical matches, and cannot eat raw meat or drink out of a pond. Even as a simulation, there must be acquiescence in the difficulty levels and game mechanics for people of low skill and people of high skill. Otherwise you end up with a simulation that won't sell. Think of it as a meta-game in which BI and rocket are trying to survive economically by finding the correct balancing point that gives them return on investment. Perhaps you want to consider playing an arma 2 mod called "dynamic zombie sandbox" instead. Alternatively you could personally treat cities as "no-go" and restrict yourself to only surviving away from them. Let those unskilled, unwashed masses scrabble for their blood bags and cz550s. You....you're heading into the wilderness armed with nothing ... uphill ... both ways ... in the snow ....
  9. Do we actually know the developer's intent? Is rocket aiming for zombies with various speeds, zombies of the "I Am Legend" variety (light-avoiding pumped-up-metabolism pack animals), or some other mish-mash?

    Hotfix Build 1.7.1.1 Rolling Update

    Rocket, I sincerely apologize for blowing my top about the change in game behavior between 1.7-> 1.7.1. It seemed obvious to me at the time that the effects of the changes were intentional and not accidental. I applaud you, sir, for keeping your cool while the rest of us ran around like noobies kiting 15 zeds.

    Build 1.7.1 Rolling Update

    I liked playing DayZ. I have issue with 1.7.1 I am very patient, but I don't see the point in a simulator that simulates laying prone on the ground and hoping a zombie doesn't see you for hours on end. If the point to the mod is to make casual hardcore players leave, then you have done a great job. Not all of us have 8 hours straight to spend the time to infiltrate 1 building for a can of beans. The return on investment for time (fun per unit time) shot down with 1.7 -> 1.7.1 Yep, let us all know when the tedium has been reduced.
