Premium loot -- A balanced proposal to "gearing up"
skyline-gtr replied to carcinovich's topic in Suggestions
"There's a serious problem with DayZ, and you know of what I speak: the pilgrimage to the airport. You go there, get "geared up," and -- TADA! --- you're at the end-game. Oh no, Airfield already looted? Time to server hop onto a mostly-empty server. Once you get your M4, then it's only a matter of pimping out your gun with shiny attachments. At this point, the game begins to lose its charm. Out of boredom, and on the top of the food chain, it's only natural that these people will either stop playing -- or go around and KOS anybody they find. Once you find a can-opener and an M4, the game slowly devolves into PvP. We need to slow down gearing up so that it's not solved by a single trip to the airport-mecca." Now there is a problem with your analysis, if i may.... You claim the only way to play is to go to airport and gear up. False You then claim that anyone who has sufficient gear is now bored. False You then suggest that, some people actually do not go to the airport. Contradiction. -
Direct trade, is a great idea imo However, allowing the other player to see your inventory is definetly not. It would make a "trader role/style" of play very difficult indeed. As most traders do their work based on trading up. example someone offer an item in exchange for your "best gun", a smart trader offers a pistol, claiming its the best he has, meanwhile he has a stock of assault rifles. You can see how showing your inventory in a trade, makes this not work at all. That is just one example, I could probably think of more. As for the bag in hand animation thing, mmm I need more time to think about that.

I think when there are more zombies and loot respawn system, then this problem which you attempt to solve will not be a problem. -
We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.

yeah well bandits actual generally are hidden, underworld sort of thing. Heros are more exposed, take centre stage etc edit: i dont know why this topic even exists because the beauty of this game is you are free to do anything, take any role etc to take only 2 roles, define them, give them outfits, is basically racists against all the other styles/roles -

Why should they get a tangible reward? like i said the only reward a hero should get is a sense of wellbeing. there does not need to be balance between hero and bandit because they are not complete opposites. there are many other ways to play the game, should they all be in balance ? Its not 100% in favour of bandits. that is a narrow minded point of view. bandits gain loot, heros kill bandits, heros gain loot, bandits kill hero, bandits gain loot. it is a cycle. -
I would argue that while it is possible to kill someone, that it is not forced upon the player.

hmm drugarunda your whole post seems to rest on the basis that after gearing up you are only left with a deathmatch. Definition of deathmatch: The goal of a deathmatch game is to kill (or "frag", from the military term) as many other players as possible until a certain condition or limit is reached, commonly being a frag limit or time limit. Once one of these conditions is met, the match is over and the winner is the player that accumulated the greatest number of frags. You may not be using it in this sense of the word, so if you could explain what you mean when you say deathmatch, it might aid in the understanding of the concepts you suggest to "fix" that.

Wayze, you are being completely unreasonable, you avoid, ignore most thing that disagrees with you.On the off chance you do reply, you make stuff up, and generally make a mockery of real discussion. You twist words, pull half quotes, ignoring their source quote etc etc
-
Ohhh ok Do you at the same time imply that a post apocalyptic world where you have to use your wits to survive in a hostile environment cannot be fun and entertaining at the same time ?
-
You are confusing survival in a woodland scenario with survival in a much larger landscape that includes zombies and several towns. Although your interpretation may soon be in game as I have heard rumours about tents and knifes and animals etc...

Why should heros get an advantage ??? In a post apocalyptic world, there is no justice system, there is no tangible reward for helping others. If your reason for being a hero is to gain reward, then frankly you are doing it wrong. Bandits gain an advantage that is your loot. That is the main reason for banditry. So we have this realistic situationm but you dont like it. You wish it to be unrealistic and reward those who should not be seeking a reward while punishing those who activley seek a reward. Your new solution does not work given the scenario that people play on a certain server consistently over a period of time. -
I would rather you no call me stupid. Although I find it a little amusing that in the same paragraph you ask for my assistance. So here is one example, the basis of your whole post. note: I posted this earlier but you choose to ignore it ???

You must go to place of purchase for a refund. In this case Steam also WARNING: THIS GAME IS EARLY ACCESS ALPHA. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE WITH SERIOUS ISSUES AND POSSIBLE INTERRUPTIONS OF GAME FUNCTIONING.

Wayze, like i said, it makes several assumptions and jumps in logic.
-
No need to get angry dude. Its not your fault for thinking of the correct use of the word.
-
Sorry but if you meant something else you should have said something else. I have explained why there is no deathmatching in DayZ. The clue is in the word dude, MATCH.
-
Your logic is flawed and based on your opinion. "How do you have fun in DayZ? Progress: -collecting gear, building houses Expirience: -interaction with players" There is no deathmatching in DayZ, i think you misunderstand the concept. Deathmatching would assume a start point an end point and in DayZ there is no such thing.
-
We have been discussing this at length for many pages. Please refer to my previous posts as to why I feel the way I do. Your thread title is flawed, it is based on your opinion only but stated as a fact. Also time after time your "common logic" actually makes jumps.
-
Wayze your whole concept is flawed, it is based on your experience only and how you view the world. Im sorry but not everyone feels the same way.

Play styles we could accomodate for in gameplay

It does change the game because a players behaviour is altered in a way that enables them to gain a high score or achievement. -

How is any of this relevant to the topic ??? -
yes common interpretation and law are two different things. I made my stance know in my first post which is the second post in this topic. If you like I could post the definition of abuse again.
