Also i7 here, and fibre optic broadband. There is deineftly an issue with the servers in my experience.

I might suggest that this is a discussion about priorities. There is no troubleshooting that could solve a server side issue.

Please address the topic from the OP and stop arguing. Here I can sum it up, and my sum up has been agreed with the OP. "To be fair, I think OP has a valid point. At least in my experience... Servers are quite delicate and by that I mean they are having issues. My internet is fibre optic and very stable, I never have any disconnects on my end. Now he seems to be suggesting that before you implement a system to punish disconnection, it may have been more fair to stabalise the servers. Not asking you to agree or disagree, but I hope you can see its a reasonable point to be making."

Premium loot -- A balanced proposal to "gearing up"
skyline-gtr replied to carcinovich's topic in Suggestions
"Generally speaking, my problem is that gearing up is too exploitable, which in turn leads to gearing up too quickly, which in turn causes the game to become too easy for some, which in turn leads to boredom, which in turn leads to many people to turn to KOS to satiate said boredom (or to tire of the game entirely), which in turn negatively affects the gaming experience for other people who are not playing the KOS game." Basically your crying about KOS. I agree gearing up is exploitable. The timescale for gearing up im not clear on this. Could you present your idea of a reasonable amount of time it should take ? The game becomes to easy for some. Well the game is not to gear up. The game is to have fun. There are many ways to do this, but you need food and water otherwise you will die. If you are experiencing boredom while playing a game then perhaps you should turn it off. Killing on site, is going to happen in a sandbox game that has guns anyway. example GTA5, lots of content etc killing other people happens a lot. Being killed is a part of the game, its going to happen like above. If this ruins the game for you then maybe you should have done some research before buying it. All that being said, there is hopefully more content on the way, so your issue may be solved by that, but I highly doubt KoS is going to disapear, such is the nature of a sandbox game with guns. -
While is may be a valid point, it may not be practical. Im no programmer so any comment I make would be partly guess work.

A tool to simplify reporting dodgy servers
skyline-gtr replied to Gruso (DayZ)'s topic in Server Advertisement
How does this work ? -
Yes i hear about rain and its possibly disabled at this moment. I also heard about snow, which would require a complete new map to be drawn. This may or may not be implemented.

EA has a system that trys to do this. Its called "Gameface" Its by no means perfect and in my experience the outcome is not lifelike.

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
skyline-gtr replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
thanks for the insult dude... So, right now there are no bandits. A bandit is an outlaw, this is defined term. With no law system in place, there can be no bandits. Adding an armband into the game does not add the ability to be a hero. It would give a player an armband for completing a series of actions. This can be easily exploited. -
Give 2 choices for logout timer: "wait" and "exit now"
skyline-gtr replied to knar33's topic in Suggestions
I think I may be able to offer some light on the confusion but I am by no means an expert in programming. So at a guess... When you are in game you are communicating with the server. When you initiate the logout process you are now communicating with the main hive server. So in order to see what is happening during the logout process, the main hive server, which is responsible for login logout data, is now under pressure to display the entire world for 30 seconds. -
Are these ideas too graphic for the game?

I do see a problem with your poll tho. It is so vague... I can take a wild guess that you will get a Yes vote, given that greed is human nature. The question could be anything, with the poll being do you want reward or no, you would still get a yes vote in most cases.

FPS fix? Questions for you tech savy guys...
skyline-gtr replied to MrJoeDirty's topic in Technology/Programming
Basically turn everything to minimum and increase it in increments until you are satisfied. I would keep resolution at native, which I assume is 1080p for you. Also where did you get these settings? I also have my frames ahead to 1 and 1. view distance and object distance to 1,500 and 1,500 shadow distance at 75 scene complexity at 100,000 my grid at 10 -noSplash -maxMem:2047 - maxVRam:2047 -cpuCount:4 -exThreads:7 -
Basically, I think you are taking your own personal experience with the game too far. Perhaps do some reading of other peoples experience, look at some youtube vids etc. I might also remind you that the game is still in alpha, so they probably do intent to add more survival elements into it.
-
If you find it boring, it doesnt mean everyone does. Also I know alot of people who do not go around shooting the place up. It is totally up to the player to decide what to do in this survival situation. The same as real life, people have choices. Again your opinion that playing as a survivor is boring. The game was intended to be fun, using survival as the theme. The point of surviving is to live for as long as possible just like in real life. There is no force to make you kill other players. This game is certainly no deathmatch. Everyone does not go around killing each other. Again your post is so full of logical jumps man. I tried to explain some of them but your second paragraph was far from clear and consice so it was difficult to make out what you meant really.

I like the concept behind this idea, however it may be difficult to implement and also might not be so user friendly.
-
wow thats great, people hiding in houses from the zombie hordes hmm so to attack could mean certain death. a distraction is a possibility maybe better to find a gun or something, trouble is as far as my knowledge of zombies goes, they do tend to bust into houses quite quickly.
-
hmmm deathmatching in your DayZ sense means shooting each other for fun. Ill tell you what. If you can, Sum up your issue, keep it clear and concise, and we can move on from there.

You might be a Hero with an armband that shows your hero status, that has spent hours in a corner boosting for skills, surrender may be the only option. -

Horses thing may be a little tough to implement, but the rocks thing is fine I would imagine.
