Explaining the nature of "Killing on Sight": A Sloth Insight
skyline-gtr replied to OldGreg (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Hello, I added a couple options to this section of your post. -
Wow, I could name quite a few scenarios where this would not be true.
-
No problem mate. Enjoy your time in DayZ.
-
Im sorry you did not comprehend the context in which I referred to the state of the game. It was because, I was going on to talk about desync and lag. Also, I think you will find that when you say "Every single one of your posts is something along those lines, just some technical talk that anyone else could post." You are in fact lieing and making it up.
-
Please be aware that the game is in alpha. Also while you state my experience on the forum, I suggest that this means you think you have enough experience. Well I am well aware of desync issues and lag etc. May I suggest that you should have taken this into account when dealing with an axe wielder who was clearly out to cause you harm. Again, I think the dumb people in this situation is not the axe wielder but you and your buddy. Also if you think my comments are useless, well you are entitled to your opinion. However, your little story obviously serves no purpose in relation to activley supporting the development of the game and could be construed as ussless.
-
You understood the situation well enough to be killed. I see.
-
you said you started healing after your friend got knocked out. anyways, i dont know how the guy is dumb when he managed to kill two people with guns armed with only an axe.
-
I see, well I hope you do learn from this situation. If you are being attacked and recieve damage, you must get to saftey or stop the attack before attempting anything else like healing.
-
part of this story puzzles me... You were chased by a axe wielder, who knocked your friend out. Then instead of dealing with the axe wielder, you tried to bandage your friend.
-
I have been referencing this map: http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus#2.041.043 It seems to correspond to the in game names.
-
Yes, why are you compared an in game road sign with a map that is not in game ?
-
As of now all servers are on the public hive. So this idea would have to wait until private hives/servers. Also, you are not currently allowed to kick people unless they break one of the rules that has been specified. Any server admin who kicks you for no good reason should have their server reported and hopefully disciplined.

1 computer, 2 accounts, family sharing, multiple characters
skyline-gtr replied to brumey's topic in General Discussion
As far as im aware, any actions taken on your brothers account should not interfere with your own. With the exception of breaking rules which would punish both accounts. -

Oh so I may have been mistaken and it is active with DayZ. -

As far as Im aware, DayZ does not participate in the family share scheme. -
Play styles we could accomodate for in gameplay
skyline-gtr replied to bobotype3334's topic in Suggestions
The problem I have with it is, When I join a server everyone is there for the purposes of playing the game. When you add high scores or achievments, then some people there may just be using it as a tool to gain those scores or achievements. -
While playing DayZ, please ensure to not behave in any way that would elicit a negative emotional response from another player. Reason: It would not be good if they realised that their idea of fun/morality is not shared with absolutely everyone else.

An alternative to a "humanity" or "sanity" system.

Why should an easily exploitable system be implemented ? -

to be a hero, you need friends and have to take a punch to the face. nice one... -

I wont waste any more of your time discussing scenarions to expose the flaws in your system. Here is something I posted in another similar thread, it might explain why this kind of system will never be acceptable to some people because they are all inherintley flawed. I enjoy the option to be whatever I want, whenever I want. I feel no need to be shoehorned into someone else idea of what a bandit, hero, KoSer is, by some of my previous actions. The fact is, no system is perfect. Especially with computers. It is far to easy for them to interrpret one action or a series of actions as "definition A", when it could in fact be "definition B". No compuer can in fact read a persons "intent", it relys on actions only and when the actions of different intents can easily be very similar or even the same, then you can maybe see the issue here. Another reason why your idea in particular is flawed is that it appears quite simple to farm for hero status. It requires 3 people I think. One to farm a civ to become a bandit and another to farm the bandit to become a hero. Now these 3 guys can move around out of sight and when confronting another player they simply use whichever of the 3 status is more suitable and send them into view, meanwhile after gaining trust they simply take your stuff, maybe humiliate you in some way also for teh lulz. -

Another scenario, a hero is attempting to help a fresh spawn. The fresh spawn makes moves to attack the hero. Does the hero have to wait for the fresh spawn to hit him first ? -

So in the example I posted, a group a fresh spawns attack a fresh spawn, and the 1 fresh spawn survives by killing the group. What happens ? -
Sewing kit + different colored pens = tattoos (!)
skyline-gtr replied to carcinovich's topic in Suggestions
Generally tattoos are not infact useful, however they are more of a statement. Much like clothing. -

I disagree, there are certain situations in real life where similar things happen. Lets consider the gang mentality, it is not hard to find evidence that gangs in real life do tattoo each other based on actions they have undertaken. A similar thing may happen in a zombie apocalypse, an amount of people find each other, group up for saftey. This group manages to survive a length of time and form a close bond. During this time they have fought off zombies and bandits and all sorts. It may be reasonable they they tattoo each other based on amount of zombies killed, or heroic deeds etc. -

If I understand by your System, killing a fresh spawn as a fresh spawn would make you lose your humanity by a certain extent, pushing you towards the bandit side of the system. So in the case of a group of fresh spawns attacking another fresh spawn. The person if they survive the encounter, with what we might term bandits, would be labeled as a bandit, while they might in fact have all the intentions of being a hero.
