any information on creating a dayz standalone LAN server?

i rememebered to read something arround here that standalone server being released to the public after the game leaves alpha or beta status... but i dont know if this was any official info and also cant remember the topic... I would love to see dedicated servers in the future to fool arround and try stuff and play with friends. I dont want to rent a server for this if i have the hardware available allready. Well i would love to hear if there is any official info out on this topic as well ;) -
good video... thats exactly why i favorite HC Mode. well i like hardcore more than regular, but the majority of my friends like regular more... I dont want to ban regular alltogether, anyone should play like he wants and even tho there are far less hc server arround i was always able to find one with good ping and decent number of players. and yes they should add a those different stand modes of arma 3 and mirros on knifes to the game ;)

well respawn aggro after gunfire is fine imo. they were there before and heard the shot. If you kill them silently tho they shouldnt be aware of you. i think they should also spawn back in the original place, so if the zombie followed you out of town and you kill him in the forest he should spawn back in town. The respawn timer should also be edited in the future, its a bit to fast imo, or atleast to fast to near.. you should be able to clear an area for a short time (just make them spawn at the other end of the town, out of sight) and yes, zombies are still bugged as hell. I like the new damage, but it shouldnt ruin stuff on the first hit. They are also a bit to fast, imo they should be a bit slower but more of them. At the moment with the not working collision system they can come just out of nowhere and thats frustrating and makes playing alone in some cases impossible. I like playing in group but i could only play once or twice in two weeks if i wouldnt play alone from time to time. Imo they should nerf them down a bit again, atleast until they fix the collision system and their super human sight/hearing. -

Seems like you dont want to have zombies that are threat in the game at all... ;) Here are my thoughts: after playing on the new version a few hours yesterday i could now finally test the new zombies ... and well, i like that they are a real threat now but its not that good executed imo. the new axe attack seems to be a lot slower than before, combined with ultra fast zombies and poor hit detection can get very annoying imo. i kind of ruins the game when you have to dance arround a zombie for seconds just to get one hit with it. The axe is still uber powerfull but with this slow attack atm im thinking of switching, how are the stab weapons atm? I think the zombies are a bit to fast, imo zombies shouldnt have super human strengh, i mean they are a pile of rotten flesh and muscle, shouldnt be that athletic. So i hope they get a bit slower again in the future and instead increase the numbers. About respawning... it is fine i guess... they didnt respawn right in front of me yesterday... btw where does the zombie respawn arround the place it died or were it first spawned? respawning near the original spawn point would be the best solution imo. Last but not least the new damage... i was hit a few times yesterday (3-4) and startet bleeding on 2 attacks. this is fine i guess. They didnt ruin any of my gear or clothes tho. -
i really like this... atm its there is almost no time difference loading a mag/speedloaders into the weapon that loading the magazines or weapons directly. the only benefit of speedloaders is the reloading option without going into the inventory. SKS for example loads manually as fast as with the quickloader, thats bullshit ;) This stuff should take time... so my beans for this idea!

i agree that there should be more mags, atleast in civilian spawn points... they are not rare in military buildings but besides that they are nowhere to be found, atleast if you compare it with the spawn points of the guns. They only "mag" that is quite common are the quickloaders for the magnum, shotgun and 2 shot rifle atm. the magazines should spawn in the same locations as the gun itself imo, tho not at the same time. Tho i wouldnt mind if you could find a gun with a magazines and a few shots from time to time (tho very rare, and should be worn/damaged) And yes there should be more mags available than guns in general and they really have to reduce the weapon spawns in the future. i just looted the new small town in the north and i found 6 weapons (4 guns, 2 rifles), and guess what, not one magazine. They only "mag" that is quite common are the quickloaders for the magnum, shotgun and 2 shot rifle atm. But as far as i know the current spawn tables are alpha as well. New items spawn more often than old ones for testing purpose

Im just hoping they release dedicated server files to the public or atleast through steam. I dont need a official singleplayer mode but it would be nice to host a game on my own server for me and my friends to fool arround. Dont want to pay for a server if i have one running that should be more than capable to handle the game for up to 10 players i guess. I also heard modding will be available in the future as well, my guess would be there we will be single/mulitplayer quest stuff coming then from homebrew developers...

i think its fine that new spawned zeds agro on people if they just fired a gun.... even tho the zombie just spawned it should just react as someone who has been there all the time. The Respawn mechanism is there to keep the engine running fine and not going down because of too many zombies, but the zombies should still react like they have been there before imo... if you know what i mean ;) But yeah i admit that its still a bit broken atm. If you killed someone with a melee weapon without making much noise the respawned zed shouldnt be aware of you, like the other zombies who have been there before but couldnt see or hear you. The clipping needs to be fixed, we all know this. also zombies should respawn out of sight.. but well still know you are there if you fired a gun before like i described at the beginning. The bleeding all the time is a bit to harsh as well imo, but i also like the fact that they are becoming more dangerous. if you have found an axe the zombies were no threat anymore before and still are right now if you kill them without a noisy weapon.... Some complains posted here are really ridiculous (cant start firefight without zombies attacking)... pvp shouldnt be the biggest threat in this game, surviving the zombies/illness/hunger and so on should be. Its a alpha guys, some of the complaining on this thread are just plain stupid. If you cant stand sometimes slow updates, (game breaking) bugs or loosing the character, dont play an early alpha, wait for the final product. Its good to hear feadback from us tester but having the same thread/topic over and over again wont fix the game faster. its just annoying to all other forum members.

i think a bit more space in the current medikit would be ok, it seems to be as big as one you need to store in your car (atleast in my country) and that thing is full of stuff.... much more than what fits in the current kit. but i guess its more of a problem that a badange needs as much space atm as a can of beans, i think you could squeze atleast 5 or 6 of them in an empty can ;) they should add more containers in the future that compress a certain kind of item, for example a zipbag that stores fresh meat, it takes 2 or 4 spaces in the inventory but holds like 6 spaces of meat items.

this would be impossible without a complete new engine... and it dont think this in needed or fits into dayz... tho i would like to see option to climb house or walls in the future (if its to high with the aid of a friend) but more is not possible i guess. if you want parkour and Zombies get Dying Light when its released.

sure this is a wip area but i agree with the op on the item space.... i mean a small gas canisters + stove shouldnt be much bigger than a can of beans, atleast thats what it looks like ingame. Bigger canisters bigger item is fine but the stove adapter shouldnt increse the item size of the cannister at all imo, its just a little attachment. so small: 1x1, medium 2x1, large 3x1... And yes we need more ways to store stuff outside your pockets or bagpack like the chestholster for the magnum. i would wear my knive on the leg or on the belt, like many other stuff if it would be possible...

cant you stand up move a few steps before you fall down again? i remember using this method to overcome some obstacles ones -
well i would like to destroy/ruin the guns or ammunition of outher players that i robbed... so i can set them free again without having to fear the kill me right away, sometimes you dont have the time or space to get all their dangerous stuff or hide it nearby. maybe just add this as function of the hammer :) About the stuff lying arround, well why not, it will respawn anyway in the future. atm im sometimes grab guns and take them with me and dispose of them in the woods. im just a bit paranoid sometimes that a player could shoot me in the back with a weapon i kept lying arround :D

i was attacked by someone in svetlo once who knocked me down with an axe, he grab my guns and some other stuff i gues and then put my prestine handcuffs on me.... when i woke up again i tried for almost 30-40 min to get out of them, after 20min i also cried for help in the ingame chat but the server was quite empty. well in the end i died because i had to log out for some real live activities :)
