DayZ causing my internet to crash

I have posted it before (in another thread) but I'll post it again here: Disable your routers firewall (sometimes also called SIP). This will help to a certain extent. The problem is that the game requests the server list and gets flooded with UDP packets from the found servers resuling in your router getting overwhelmed (essentially you are getting a denial of services effect, thus the problem becomes greater if you have more clients running dayz on a signle router). This is caused by poor socket programming. The best way to fix this is to buy a router able to handle as many connections as possible. Ofcourse the devs could save us a few bucks if they actually pay attention to all the posts about this problem and address their (or someone elses) poor programming (or just come up with an adequate solution by using different topology if the engine has been poorly written, they have no excuse for this monstrosity) instead of introducing cowboy hats.

Server List empty after refreshing 2-3 times

    Products of the murderer

    That wont happen.
  4. Protection box inception causing this in my experience. I dropped the boxes and it was fine afterwards.

    Allow Server Configurable Pve Only

I am a programmer myself so I know full well that it would be easy to do. But I don't support the idea of bothering the devs with things that are not in their scope at the moment. If you were working in a big company you would know how much time such a "minor" feat. will cost to the team involved (im just making a comparison here, sometimes developing is just part of a bigger process). You will get your PvE in time. Right now there are too many bugs to be fixed and things to be implemented to worry about PvE.

    Allow Server Configurable Pve Only

I'll give you a good argument - we want the game devs to devote their time creating the best possible PvP experience and not waste their time with PvE. Go play something else, thank you.

    Knockout strike suggestion

We've seen it in other games - basically if you are able to actually sneak up to someone who is camping or just standing in one place, you could take your time and deliver a precise strike and try to knock him out. It's represented by a bar which fills up in several seconds while you hold the left mouse button (you cannot walk while you "charge" the strike). When the bar is full, the strike has a significant chance to knock the person out. The chance could vary depending on the weapon. For example doing this with a combat knife could result in instant death, while doing this with a shovel knocks the person unconscious.

    Knockout strike suggestion

How can you do that? As far as I know you can only hope to knockout someone when you hit him with usual blows. There should be an advantage if you were able to get close to someone without him noticing.

    Carrying survivors with broken bones

I think this will be such a great feat. to have. Yestarday a friend broke his legs (on DayZ :D) after walking off a ladder and we spent a good 15 minutes wondering what to do (eventually he relogged on the server and his legs were ok). It would've been great if I could've carried him back to the city, where sticks and ductape were easy to find so we could've fixed him up. I imagine it would also be great for handcuffed survivors, so you can transport them to wherever you like or unconscious survivors that you need to extract from the battlefield. It could be implemented in such a way that if you carry someone you get movement-speed cap.
  10. I've noticed that some enemies don't spot me even when they walk over me, while other spot me from very far even when I hide in the thickest bush available. We've tested the visibility of our positions (with a friend) on a less populated server to see if we were easy to be spotted (everything on low and disabled). It was very hard. Even when I knew where my friend was hiding, it was still very hard to spot him even when he moved. We decided to test if people will spot us in a populated server (hardcore). The 3rd person we saw, directly shot both of us while we were hiding. We were hiding in completely different sites on the same hill (didn't shoot, didn't move) and I cannot imagine how he could've seen us both at the same time (we didn't even see where he was shooting from). All this happens way too often, some people notice my position even when I stand completely still in a jungle of bushes. I feel there's some sort of hack or maybe some console command or something involved. Maybe I'm wrong, did someone else notice that?
  11. 1. Develop an in-game friends system - might contain friends and "temporary" friends etc. 2. Permit player logout when there are only friendly players around in the vicinity you are in. As long as there are players that aren't friendly in the vicinity, make log-out time something like 5 minutes. 3. If you want to come back to the same server up to 30 minutes after you have left while enemy players were there (and you waited for 5 minutes to do so) spawn in the same location you left from (display warning message on log-in to inform that you will be spawned at the location you left from).

A simple but bold suggestion to eliminate ghosting and combat logging

The situation you described is not abuse. It's just me accepting you as a friend/temp friend, the decision lies in me alone and if you shoot me that wouldn't be abuse. Abuse is where you have people logging out (in 30seconds) changing their position on another server (flanking you for example) and logging in again to kill you. And I have friends who play DayZ with me. Anyway, my suggestion might be bad but your arguments are way worse.

DAYZ standalone gives me internet problems

I guess what affected the mod affects the standalone as well: Your router has a NAT table that caches each individual endpoint (IP:Port). Pinging each one of the DayZ servers results in an entry added to that cache. Some routers have smaller tables than others, and when they get filled up, don't allow new endpoints to be used until the existing ones clear up. Newer/better routers have a much larger cache and are way less likely to see this problem.

Enemies spotting me in the bushes

Thank you guys for the info. I was thinking there's something like this happening but I didn't know how they do it. It actually bothers me a lot that ppl can do that. I certainly hope that they will fix this "issue" on the final version :)

    Carrying survivors with broken bones

Well for some reason i was searching for the word "carrying" instead of "carry". My bad :)
