Whats your favorite location on the map?

Berezino, as shallow as that may be <.< It's exhilarating to go there without a firearm and test your luck. To see if you can snatch a weapon off a body or a player and run. Or.. To go seek a warrior's death after you've geared up and survived for long enough to get bored! There are of course other hotspots with similar value.
  2. For me the biggest and most notable collapse of society was when the Roman Empire fell. That triggered centuries of regression, war, blood, and agony. Today we call that time the Dark Ages. Technology regressed; aqueducts, roads, trading routes, sewer systems, ect--- All lost. No government to repair them. People gradually went from living in houses to living in shacks. Europe was pretty much divided 100s of little warring states. You would live in this era as some poor sod living in a farm or village until one of their armies came along and raped and killed a large percentage of you and gave you the ultimatum to join or die. ... All for someone elses gain. People would work together for mutual gain. The more hands you have the easier it is to survive. What we lack in DayZ is well.. Anything to do with those hands other than put guns in them. The gamespace itself doesn't feel harsh enough to kill us, only other players. So without goals, an environment that wants us dead, or other such incentives there is really little else to do but wander around and shoot people out of boredom. >.>
  3. Yes. The Japanese are like this because it is highly cultural. They also have one of the highest suicide rates in the world.. And this is because there is so much pressure on them to be perfect not only for their own image but for their family's image. They can be pretty uptight, but I love their media. They have some really creative dreamers! But back to my point...see.. They wear masks, like we do, but theirs are much much more blatant. There is a personal mask, and a public mask. They also have very tight gun control. The Yakuza, for example, doesn't even prefer to use guns in their organized crime operations because of how much trouble it is to own a gun and to be caught with a gun. I think it actually reaffirms my point more so. A combination of social pressure and law enforcement contribute to those statistics.
  4. Standards. Values. Morals. These things are all social constructs. They are fake and borrowed, these creeds come from the society, culture, and religions you are born into rather than from within. They are from without, they are outside influence, they are learned traits and by no means what it is to be "human" ..morals change. Standards change. The Roman's thought it was ok to beat a slave in the back of the head and throw them into a ditch when they were bored. As early as the 1800s here in the states it was fine to marry your underage cousin. Only a couple decades ago being openly gay could get you beaten in the street. Public opinion changes based on what is acceptable at the time. People suffer everytime we decide to cast our dignity aside and slit the throat of our own individuality for that meaningless fleeting feeling of love and acceptance. There are two simple consequences that keep order and peace: Fear of social excommunication, fear of being outcast from the tribe of choice one has built their identity around. The human is a herd animal, herd animals follow. People go through life upholding this image of what other people and creeds expect of them rather than being themselves and embracing themselves. They live and die without a sense of self. Without self-awareness. Law Enforcement. Much less abstract than the above, this is the fear of the physical consequences. People fear reprisal; they want their freedoms and their life. Live as a cog in the machine or go to prison/get executed. Serial killers often ignore these consequences out of vanity or plain just don't fear them. . Most people are going to protect themselves and their immediate family in any sort of catastrophic event that might occur. Everyone else is the enemy.

What items would you kill someone for? An MP5K?

I kill mostly for fun or necessity. >.> I hid in the clinic across from a police-station and shut all the doors. Hid in the medical closet and axed people who came in. .. Started out because I needed bulletz for my Mosin and ducked in while others were distracted by a firefight.... First kill was the survivor of that fight! >.> After that it turned into a tourist trap. Plenty of food. Ammo. Victims. Had a good gig going till three guys stormed me :c

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

The Good: Murder, betrayal, agony---a simultaneously tragic and hilarious portrait of the human mind. The good times that are had. The bad times that are had. The Bad: The engine (from personal observation) seems too clunky and disjointed for the concept of DayZ. My assessment is that is has probably been the largest limiting factor in DayZ's development. The devs seem to be battling the engine's limitations every step of the way. They have still done some fantastic work despite those limiting factors. Assuming my observation is even correct! The Ugly: Although survival mechanics are starting to bulk up it still feels too easy to survive the game space. Too easy to survive. I don't feel like the world is out to devour me. The zombies are always getting better. Food and hunger are way easy to deal with. Managing body temp isn't in just yet. Disease and all the preventative and treatment measures aren't here yet. There are no persistent goals to strive for.

Does carrying a sporter 22 make you a more 'friendly" player

Any kind of weapon is a threat. I think carrying a Sporter can make someone misjudge your threat level from afar. If they aren't close enough to discern what kind of weapon you have most people are going to open fire just to be sure.

What clothing set/weapons would you add if you could?

Weapons: For weapons I generally like the idea of more civilian and police grade firearms rather than military weaponry. Bolt-actions have a special place in my heart. More intimacy between you and the round. Makes you feel like you are more a part of the mechanism that delivers death to your foe. Feels like part of you reaches them. Is inside them. Mosin is a classic, and has us covered. But. Moar! * Some form of pump action shotgun with a sawn off variation (Click, Clack, BOOM!) * A compact snub-nosed revolver, easy to conceal/takes up very little inventory space, perhaps a .32 of some kind? * G36 Assault Rifle.(Yeah..not Civilian really >.>). But it's the most prettiest of all assault rifles! * Some burst fire weaponry? We lack that! * Power Tools * Knives and Machetes that actually hurt people. * Improvised explosives Clothes: *Fishnets. *More variations of gas mask *More Masks *Trench coats *Punk gearz *Goth gearz *Sports gear *Improvised clothing and leather based gear, improvised armor, post apoc road warrior stuffs! *Riot Gear (Think we're getting this? I dont remember. Whatevz.)

How many have you killed and why ?

I lost count. I am getting a strange feeling of deja vu with this thread.... The reasons change as much as the situation does; there is no one size fits every scenario-type answer. The reasons I kill can vary from self defense to boredom....Most of the time boredom. ;p
  11. I am not a fan of the bandit/hero labels. They are both steeped in macho bravado, as well as the egotistical vindication of one's actions. I prefur to play a little bit differently with each play through, set some light parameters for what I'm doing that particular run. Though, sometimes, these parameters change when opportunity presents itself during interaction with others. Really.. You never know what I'm going do. I might kill you on sight. I might team up with you for two hours and we could live happily ever after. Or maybe after that two hours I'll betray you. Maybe I'll make you eat beans and gunpoint and let you go, just because I needed the inventory space. Or maybe I'll make you squeal like a pig and put you down >.> But my absolute favorite is stalking someone, remaining unseen, for 20 minutes or so. Waiting for the perfect opportunity to axe them in the back of the head. I think I have way more fun than people who justify their actions with labels!
  12. Seasons would be pretty neat! Being a fresh spawn in winter seems harsh though >.> I suppose your first order of business would be lighting a small fire in whatever town you're scavenging. Finding clothes and food.
  13. 1) Aiming cursor removed. Agreed. 2) All water sources are infected. I think the chance for sickness/infection when drinking above ground water should be increased. The number of wells dispersed across the map however, could be decreased. 3) Colder. Colder nights, and harsher environments in the north. I would like to see snowy areas eventually included, perhaps with high-risk high reward loot spawns in them that you would have to spend a lot of time gathering the neccessary equipment to traverse through the cold (insulted clothes, firewood, ect) though this is more of a wish for both modes. 4) Fatigue. I will form an opinion about fatigue after I how they choose to implement a fatigue system. 5) Recovery. There is a fine line between too realistic and fun, I would like to see something tweaked here, but I am no good with numbers and it's a very thin line to tread. However, I would like to see the same thing as mentioned with water; sickness and infection rates that are drastically increased over the regular servers. You are punished more for using rags instead of bandages, and for not sterilizing your wounds. Redressing your wounds could also come into play here, causing you to use more of your supplies and/or scavenge more when injured. 6) No Ammo count in HUD I like it. I would like there to be a notification when you try to stick a bullet into a full magazine. "It won't budge" something liek that. I don't know ;p

    Positive Experiences

One of the funniest adventures I had was with these two guys I bumped into who were roleplaying as Knights. I swear, it was something straight out of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. They even made clacking noises as if they were on horseback when they ran off. Pretty funny. Another positive interaction was when someone starving to death but didn't have a gun noticed I had a B95. He had ammo for it, traded it, and said "I'm trusting you not to shoot me." Part of me died inside, as I did not pull the trigger on him. We both walked away from encounter alive. The third hilarious semi-positive encounter I've had recently was in Cherno. I had a green motorbike helmet and the thing saved my life. I was sniped..and went unconscious. When my character woke up she was laying down in a field with a couple other bodies nearby.. It sounded like the gunfight was still going, so I got up and ran into the city for better cover. My moto helmet was ruined. <.<

When does your "switch" flip during an encounter?

I do a little bit of profiling. The following people get shot: Squeak-teen voice means that, given the chance, the player will likely yolo/hashtag/teabag/dubstep on your grave and make off with your loot given the chance. Vaguely eastern European accents mean that they could possibly be Russian, and if so it's safer just to shoot them, given their reputation. Not a chance I like to take. Some people are really bad at acting. Since I mimic human life to fit in, I can often gauge authenticity. I also kill people if we're competing for loot in the same territory. Scarcity of supply. I could keep going...To sum it up I treat most of the game as a practice in risk management.

    Giving us a point ?

    Why can't we have both?
  20. Rudette

first KOS. I think the forums made me do it!

The squeak-teen voice only means he would have teabagged/YOLO/hashtagged/dubstepped on your grave before running off with your stuff if given the chance. Don't feel bad for shooting someone.....-coughs- in a video game. <.< ..Humans are all duplicitous insipid self-serving things.

B95, Mosin question | Sawn of Blaser K95

A sawn off B95 would be pretty nifty.
  22. When the core features are in place. But probably not by much.
  23. I walk the narrow winding spindly road of the axe murderer. A long standing tradition! There is something invigorating about it yes? ... On this path you usually don't just kill your opponent. You screw with their heads first. Nothing beats tracking a target for miles, waiting for him or her to present their vulnerable backside, or get stuck in a bean-eating animation. .. Like when someone goes into an apartment building, never knowing they were being tracked, only to come back down the stairs to see you standing between them and last flight down----A monolithic maniac in clown mask that had seemingly manifested out of thin air. You lunge forward, laughing in proxy a soul siphoning reverberation of the sick anticipation that had built up within you since you first started tracking your target as well as a newly found satisfaction in macabre indulgence of your work.

You are right, what delinquents we are for not thoroughly integrating the latest slang into our lexicons! /Sarcasm Get a grip, duckling. And while your at it, jump down off of your self-righteous little soap box. You will find no self vindication here. Especially not with this nonsense.
