Leaving town, some guy with M4 cam spraying at me out of the bushes....Ambushing me (Unsuccessfully) So doubled back, and started stalking him. Predictable as he was, he knelt down in a bush some 20 minutes later. >.> I snuck up an axed him to death and scattered his loot in the road for the people he was likely going to ambush. I will say...sneaking up on people when they are locked to first person is invigorating, far more than using those 3rd person shenanigans.

After dodging six SKS rounds from some unkown sniping position today while rummaging for food .... I think I'll pass. ^-^ Have fun though guys, it's real sweet of you. Naive but sweet >.>

Complains about KoS then calls people carebears.....lolwut. Combating exploitation and unfair play isn't what I'd call catering to "carebears" , as you put it. Are you picking servers with low ping? How many mpbs do you haz? It was my understanding server stability has been improved with the last patch.

Today I went into Cherno to mouse over and see if I could garner any loot, armed only with a trusty hachet! That beautiful and distinct sound of our new toy, the SKS, cuts through the previously silent ambiance, adrenal high ensues. Shot after shot reigns down--I must have dodged at least six shots bobbing a weaving in and out of houses. All the firearms were gone, but I did manage to scrounge up some ammo and enough food to start heading north. I had pushed my luck already, and it was time to move on. I decided to make a detour first though, and travelled along the coast to get away from all the sniper action before heading north. I pass a bush and M4 fire whizzes by, I dodge and weave and break line of sight, I double back around and start following the guy who had ambushed me. ... Oh how invigorating it was make hunted of the hunter! I watched and waited. Bided my time until, predictable as he proved to be, squats into another bush. I sneak up behind him, laugh a maniacal debauched laugh, letting him know just how....enthusiastic I am about my work. By the time he stands he's already dead. My prey lies face down. .... I salvage the bits of gear I find to my liking... I toss the rest in the road for passers by to discover later. Good deed of the day. M4? I had no need. I rehydrate (Thanks for the canteen deadman) and headed for the tree line and continued my quest to find a Mosin or SKS.

The fix for this is more game development, more time there pooky! More environmental hazards, survival elements, and zombies will give you other things to strive for and against than getting geared. Right now? The only threat is the human threat. When that changes, expect social dynamics, how we handle risk management, and the sustainability of the game to completely change. Give it time.

At the very least I think they might be able to swing different faces and hairstyles for the associated skin tones!

What he said! It's my understanding that server and engine optimization will have to come first! >.> I want death by zombie, not death by low FPS! I wouldn't mind more viscera, it would certainly be more immersive. And I think everyone agrees, devs included, that there should be more zombies that are more exhilarating to face in battle, and horrific enough to avoid. We have no envirnmental danger to speak of right now. That's why so many of us have taken to the sport of killing each other. The human threat is the only threat out there!

I enjoy Rust and DayZ, for different reasons. >.> Right now Rust trumps DayZ in core mechanics. Downtime in rust is spent building and scavenging. <.< Even so, DayZ will probably be more to my liking when it comes closer to completion. Right now there is no environmental challenge. Killing people and looting is good times though! *Sharpens my firefighter's axe*

They are so-so, they aren't terrible! Probably subject to change. More customization is always good. Right now? I think we should be more concerned about the environment trying to cause harm to us. More survival mechanics and more dangerous zombies. They seem to be taking the first steps towards that by improving the load servers can handle and all that technical type stuff I know nothing about!

In relation to this system the Zeds themselves (when engineered and tinkered with to have become a real threat) can assist in slowing down the gearing process. Together, this would make for a very hardcore experience, as you'd either need lots of ammunition for your civilian grade arms or friends to get to the good stuff. Places that spawn high end loot should be infested with zombies. Cities and military bases especially!
