    Found a pretty interesting WW2 pistol

    Interesting find and kind of neat, but I agree with Hosty! I'm more excited about having civilian grade firearms, and less specialty/military items.
  2. Ah! okies! Good! Well, then melee weapons really need work! Knives aren't stabby enough. Have you ever tried to kill someone with a knife? It's time to kill is laughably low. If I put 10 stab wounds in a guy he should be in shock twitching on the ground and bleeding out! Not punching me twice in the head and knocking me out. 3-5 good stabs with a high rate of attack would be nice. Machete? 2-3 good swings. Blunt weapons need analyzing. Hammers, Wrenches, Crowbars and the like---heavy things---should have high chances of breaking bones. Baseball bats and shovels would be geared towards knocking people out easier. Fists... I Don't know. I kind of feel like fists need nerfing or other melee weapons need to be brought in line with them and the fireaxe in some way. Not everything can be as a great as a fire axe, no, but they don't have to be so useless.
  3. I'd like to see sunglasses actually reduce the lense flare and light beam effects when you're facing the sun. Would be incredibly useful for sniping and counter sniping and just..seeing towards that direction at all lol. Spray-paint hardhats? Gasmask? >.> What about using duct-tape to upgrade the crowbar? Giving it a "grip" per say, to allow for harder more steady swinging? Increasing it's shock/unconsciousness damage or potential to break bones. (Melee weapons in general I feel need to be looked at. It's either a fireaxe or your fists or gtfo as far as usefulness. But I am not sure that balance is what you're thread is about .>.>) Did you ever play the Resident Evil remake on Gamecube? It had a really interesting system for defensive weapons---Little shivs, screw drivers, tasers, and the like. You would equip them as a defensive weapon, and when attacked your character would automatically thrust it into the zombie to get it off you. It would destroy the item though, or deplete the battery in the case of the taser. Not sure if it's right for DayZ as I can't see an application against other players being easy to work out.. but I really liked it!

    Shoe sizes and clothing sizes

    Not really, I enjoy the detail behind blood types and what have you. It's the little things that really bring immersion to this game! It's just.. I don't really find the loot to be an accurate representation of what's in a house, more like what our character finds that useful to her/him.. For example, how many houses aren't going to have a kitchen knife? I enjoy looting to much. I am against anything that makes 90% of my loot useless to me. Imagine how marginally low your chances of getting a particular piece of clothing would be? The area you were win would have had to roll it as a spawn. Then make another roll to see what size it was. Astronomically tedious.
  5. Though I'm not a proponent of adding many more military weapons (AK-47 Excluded >.> Love that one), there is an SMG gap that needs to be filled, and your suggestions had a few SMGs that weren't as common in games as say an MP5 would be. I like that! >.> And that hunting rifle looks sexy.

  7. Running with your "fists up" or "equipped" is faster than running with them down. There are wells around, and you can drink from them! Loot near the coast can be pretty scarce if the server hasn't restarted in a while. But, learning the cities and areas around the coast is a good way to start learning how to navigate DayZ's dauntingly huge map. If you wish to do this, try a low-pop server. Going inland, as mentioned, will yield more loot. Avoid armed people, and don't be friendly without being cautious.

    ^ Play with low settings till they patch it. Sounds like they were talkin about making a fix as soon as Monday. One weekend ain't gonna kill ya!

    Military Gear lootspawns need immense reductions

    This! That said, I would like to see the prevalence of military gear take a back seat, where as I would like to see civilian firearms take prevalence. The gear gap wouldn't be that severe, hell, this crafty maniac has snuck up and killed many kitted out individuals with naught but a fire-axe!

    SKS I think is good in forest or urban scenarios, medium range fights with good cover. I think it's a better all rounder than the Mosin where as the Mosin is more specialized. If you're being friendly up close, and something goes sideways you'll be more prepared to deal with it. I like it, but I have to admit, I'm a guerrilla fighter. The Mosin I like when I'm trying to stick to myself, and obviously, fight at longer ranges. It is oh so satisfying to reach out and touch potential threats. Though, now that slipping a sawn off into your backpack takes up relatively little space, the Mosin/Sawn-Off combo can work out pretty well in urban areas. Snipe from a window, handle anyone that breaches your building with your trusty pocket boom stick! It is also worth mentioning that they are implementing Gews' more realistic muzzle velocity, so soon our weapons will 'feel' different. Might want to experiment after.

    "PvE Servers" when there is no PvE to speak of at the moment is a pointless endeavor. Revisit this idea when more survival mechanics and I dont know.. .ZOMBIES... are implemented ;p Still.. Such a request is robbing yourself of the spirit of the game. In most zombie entertainment media? The humans always prove to be worse than the Zeds.

    What Type of Bases do You Want to See in DayZ

    I want camps and tents and/or the ability fortify pre-existing buildings. Camps to set up a base of operations for skinning, harvesting, and cooking animals. Maybe tanning rack for leather crafting. Or I want to find a house and board it up. Doesn't need to feel safe. Needs to feel bleak, like the situation. Nothing extreme like Rust. >.> Building giant skyscrapers would look silly. Rust is a great game, but, If I want Rust I'll just log into Rust. ;p

    *Wrinkels nose* Ewww... You call ...that... music? Anyway... Yeah, on my friendly playthroughs I've found that playing friendly is a bit of an artform. For starters you don't walk right up to anyone. You don't make contact unless you're in a position where you either have the advantage or have an escape route. You certainly don't walk up to groups of armed men. I started dressing less military as part of one of many recent social experiments of mine. Surprisingly, even when armed, I'm shot at less when wearing civies. (Hoodie, Shades, Bandana, Cargo Pants, Improvised Backpack) than I am when kitted out. ... If I find a pristine Payday mask though? .. I drop all my morality and turn to serial murder. Also. A recommendation: Hardcore servers. For one reason or another, friendly populations tend to be higher there. Frankly I think a humanity system is just silly. Add in more survival mechanics and an environment that wants to kill us. Give people a common enemy, make high yield loot areas hot spots of ravenous hordes of zombies. Make people work together for a chance at those high end items. Make us fight disease, hypothermia, hunger, thirst, cold, wet, ect. Perhaps implent systems down the road (such as construction/camping/mechnical work on vehicles) take less time with more than one person working at it. When the game is closer to completion and there is more to do and more risk management to take into consideration social dynamics will change....But there will always be bandits, untrustworthy individuals, murders, sicophants, and KoSing. Not knowing who you can trust is part of the fun!

  24. *Dean really likes the barricading system in 'The Dead Linger', and wants something like that for DayZ by the sound of it. *Bows are certainly going to be a thing as well as hunting, old news. *Said something about a system for throwing weapons. *Want's to animate the well-water pumps *Mention of a hugging animation! *Wants to animate the visors (Up/Down) for Motorbike helmets *Door physics *Said he really wanted to get the pistol suicide animation in this week, but there were to many bugs. *He wants to do suicide animations with Rifles, Pistols, And Knives.
