    Weapon Balance vs "Realism"

There is something intimate about a bolt action rifle. The interaction between yourself and the round, your body feels more like an articulation within the involvement of the death of your prey, a part of the killing mechanism as a whole. Bolt actions are easy to use. Easy to teach someone use, and a very familiar type of firearm to many people. Being comfortable with a weapon is important, the right amount of confidence at the right time to take a shot and be certain you'll hit is the quintessential 'life or death' situation. Something can be said about the raw effectiveness of different firearms, but I still feel 90% of any gunfight is positioning. Play to the strengths of your own weapon and to the flaws of your enemy's weapon. I don't think there should be too big of a disparity between the damage firearms do, not to the point that we have certain arms just don't feel worth carrying based on stats alone! As it is now, all of our current primary weapons fill a role or cater to a certain style of shootist. Me? I don't touch M4s. Not a question of it's effectiveness, just doesn't play to my strengths as a player and I think it's ugly ;p Melee weapons, however, suffer from a huge disparity in damage. I shouldn't have to stab someone 24 times before they feel it, and I have no reason to when two punches to the head will suffice.

    Where is the crossbow?

I'm a fan of hunting weapons! Not just the Bows/Crossbows. But rifles, shotguns, the like. They feel.... Survivaly! Especially bows! And as mentioned above, the stealth factor is nice!

Then it is as you say! >.> Rude awakenings!

    Where is the crossbow?

When crossbows get here I can live out my Daryl Dixon fantasies! >.> However.... When bows get here, I'm ditching it. So I can be more like Link. >.> Mmmm Link. I blame Link and Nintendo for my bow fetish. Maybe the Bosmer from Elder Scrolls too? lol.

    >.> Vehicles attract to much attention anyway. And that's how they should be. A lofty goal to work towards.

Ever did something in dayZ you regret?

Was exploring a school and some guy jumps out trying to beat me to death with a hammer. I shove a double barrel in his face. "WOAH...BACK OFF....Now... You are going to take these beans." I really wanted some more inventory space in my backpack, It was full of extra food and I was healthy/energized/hydrated so I didn't need it. I wasn't even doing a friendly playthrough! But I also shouldn't have let his guy live, I guess my tired brain had just shut down and didn't put two and two together. After we parted ways I frowned a little. Should have pulled the trigger, he didn't deserve my beans.

    Sleeping and infinite running

Sleeping? Not so much. It works in single player games because of waiting mechanics (Like in Skyrim + associated mods). In multilayer it's just a bother. To much of a limiter on gameplay time. Running limitations? Maybe. After vehicles. But not now.

This game. And the people who play it

Being friendly is still an option, I still accomplish it all the time (between my murderous rampages). Being friendly requires that you have the advantage or an escape route. Otherwise, you are just asking to be shot. Exposure isn't something you let happen until trust is developed. Even then, you risk making a bad call. The long and short of it is that the game will become more when the game literally does become more ;p Patience.

Thoughts on the SKS and B29

The B95 is an odd choice, but, it's really fun to use in game!

    <<<< Zombie Improvements. >>>>

Yeah, the zombies are a pretty big project when you think about it: They not only need to be stronger, faster, and more numerous but client and server stability/effeciency has to reach a point where the game and the servers can handle that sort of load compounded with the player and loot spawns. Scripts for respawning. They would also need sneaking mechanics for the players, detection mechanics for the zombies. New animations, new textures, new models and different values assigned to them for the sake of variety.

Any love for the PKM ?

That is pretty sexy! I wouldn't be opposed to it, but I would like to see more civie arms first!
  16. DayZ will eventually offer more than PewPew, but the PewPew playstyle is fun to indulge in from time to time and I certainly harbor nothing against those who choose to play that! Right now we're all rabid bored and greedy, with nothing to compete with for resources but each other. We lack other goals to aspire to! Aside from hoarding massive amounts of beans and ordinance other people want to kill for. Of course we're gonna gun each other down! The stage DayZ has set calls for it. I'd like the immerse myself in the survivalist feel of things eventually, when that actually becomes difficult! I want that part of the game to be the real struggle, the part that feels the most difficult. I don't really want a shooter with the backdrop of survival, I want survival with the backdrop of a shooter. I want risk management, both when dealing with the environment and when dealing with other players. I don't really consider myself a roleplayer, but I do like to set light parameters around each playthrough. Parameters that are subject to change when social dynamics present themselves. However, I also have ADHD, get bored easily, and tend to shoot people after going stir crazy from walking around in the woods aimlessly gathering loot.

What Is Your BIGGEST Pet Peeve In DayZ?

Another one is melee. It's either fists, fireaxe, or you might as well carry nothing at all! I picked up a pristine machete today, naively thinking that it would be a fantastic weapon since machetes can lop off limps with relativity little force or energy spent! >.> Only.. That's not how it worked out. I had to slash at a zombie approximately 2 dozen times to take it out. I can't imagine how poorly it would preform on a player. 2-4 hit kill would feel more balanced.

    How do you dress?

Social experiment continues: I was dressed with a pristine yellow raincoat, some blue cargo-pants I sewed up to look all nice and clean with the new sewing kit, orange backpack, those reflective mountaineer looking sunglasses, a blue radar cap and some yellow boots. Met a couple dudes dressed all cowboyed up, I was on the second floor of a restaurant---(This part is really important for those of you who whine about KoS ruining the game)----It takes just a little bit of work to be friendly. I observed them and noticed one only had his melee weapon out, the other was ducking inside a building. I'm a pretty good shot, had the high ground, had plenty of cover. I had the advantage. So after taking all these considerations, following my own personal rules of engagement by evaluating the situation before taking action, I decided to make contact. I asked them "How's it going, you friendly?" A phrase that begins many tragic tales in DayZ. "Yeah we are friendly!" They replied. They asked me "Was that you firing earlier?" And I replied. "Ah. Yes. Zombies." I didn't bother explaining, but I had foolishly dropped my fire axe for a machete thinking it would actually be worth carrying. Was I ever wrong, I had slash a approximately zombie two dozen times for it to die. So when more than one attacked, I was forced to waste rounds on them. Anyway. Back to the story! They said we'll pretend this never happened and go our seperate ways. After they left I lingered prone for a bit with an angle on the stairwell in case they tried anything funny. Despite the fact that I had a B95 and an empty chest holster, the rest of my attire was quite disarming. Had I not ditched my mask, military gear, and hunting backpack I'm quite certain the same scenario would have turned into a shoot out.

What Is Your BIGGEST Pet Peeve In DayZ?

Another big one is certain house types that just don't spawn loot at all, as well as sheds and out buildings being virtually empty too.

What Is Your BIGGEST Pet Peeve In DayZ?

The M4 I think.. I won't even pick one up. >.> It's not that the model or texture work on it is bad work or anything like that. <.< I just dislike the look of the weapon.. Like the M16, It's generic. Ugly. Not exciting. Another peeve is hearing kids speaking their ghetto gangster urban speak or blasting hiphop over their proxy chat, pretty much glorifying ignorance, hostility, and stupidity and letting the world know just how proud of it they are. But that's not DayZ's fault >.>

    How do you dress?

Depends on what I'm dressing for. If I'm going friendly I try to dress as casual as possible. I find it actually gets me shot at less. If I'm going the loner style, I'll grab camo stuff and a Mosin and stick to the woods. If I'm going axe murderer I dawn a Payday mask, red canvas pants, school backpack, gun holster or black vest, and red punk boots if I can find them. I'm also a pretty big fan of gasmasks.

Thoughts on the SKS and B29

I'm liking the SKS in ubran combat or out in the trees where I have lots of cover. I find the recoil isn't so bad as long as don't try to fire it as fast possible. Either be patient and zero back down before you fire the next round, or take cover a moment, and lean + shoot, depending on how much you are getting shot at. Haven't found the B95 yet, but look forward to it! Something less military is just what I'm out for >.>
