    I Finally See

Frankly, you were the one who made the mistake. If you're unarmed and outnumbered you shouldn't be attempting friendly communication with anyone that has a gun without watching them first to see if they are sketchy. Observation and patience is a big part of DayZ, as is never knowing who you can trust. I'm so sick of these "q.q I exposed myself, so I got shot q.q" threads, before I get too frustrated let me reiterate my point: Being "friendly" and having any measure of success at it requires that you protect yourself and communicate without exposing yourself to unnecessary risks. Sometimes that means only communicating when you have the advantage (This could be a superior position, strength of force, superior weapons, ect.) or at the very least, an escape route. Make your own personal rules of engagement. Follow them. Simple. Are you new to zombie fiction? Almost every time one group meets another in media (Comics, movies, series ect.) there are casualties or at least that tension of everyone pointing their guns at each other. Humans cannot and will not get along. You make them compete for resources? Expect blood. If you want the social dynamics to improve all you can do is wait for it. Social dynamics will get more complex when the game has more features, more for us to do than point our guns at each other. When zombies become a threat, when the weather becomes a threat, when we have multiplicative risks to stack atop one another.
  2. I live in the South. I'm knee deep in conservative bible beating idiocy! People who are not only ignorant, mean, judgmental, and paranoid? But proud of it. I think on some primal level, in the deep recesses of my subconscious, my brain has made this connection that anyone wearing a cowboy hat is flaunting how proud they are of being an ignorant brute, or they are simply trying to live up to that bravado. Or maybe I've just been watching too much Walking Dead and my brain compares you to Carl's silhouette, deems you useless, and decides you should be removed. Seriously though, I know it isn't the logical conclusion.. I just hate it here. And my need to shoot you? Just a reflection of that hatred.

DayZ SA is already becoming too damn easy

The game is to easy because of the lack of environmental danger, which is what the survival genre is all about. Server performance and game optimization that they are working on now will lead too : More numerous and likely more dangerous zombies and more players. Players will impact the scarcity of supplies, this will make hunger/thirst more of an issue. Zombies will add more risk. Weather, cold, wet, body temperature, hyothermia, ect will add more to worry about, more to overcome. Hunting will offer another means of survival. There will be more things to craft. Vehicles, hopefully, will add entities that we will have to scavenge for and constantly maintain if we want to keep them running (ideally) and will likely be fought over by players. More content is coming---Things that will make the game meaningful. It is just a really large pvp arena currently. Just be patient, go out and kill some dudes ;p
  4. If that's what you choose to do, then that's your right! You shouldn't be forced to place nice.
  5. Exactly. We don't need silly karma systems, whimsical name-tags, or absurd safe-zones or the plethora of other ridiculous nonsensical ideas people keep coming up with to force us to get along. What we need is a brutal environment that wants to kill us at every turn, that stacks so many risks against us that starting fights with others players might not necessarily be a risk we'd want to stack on top of all that.
  6. I think social dynamics will get better when the game is closer to completion and there are more risks to manage, as well as more benefits associated with playing as a group. If the environment becomes a real threat with multiplicative risks and dangers that you are always at odds against? At some point, when the game world is out to devour you, the KoSing will likely get a little better. It will always be around though, and it always should. The spirit of the game is human interaction and never knowing who to trust. For now there is no environment to speak of. DayZ, in it's current state? It demands blood. There is nothing to turn our guns on but each other. If you don't wish to be killed on sight then don't put yourself at risk. If you want to survive other players and have any sort of meaningful communication then you have to do it on your own terms. Set yourself some personalized rules of engagement and follow them. Never make contact unless you have the advantage or an escape route. Safe zones? Nametags? Things like this are ridiculous notions that are simply too direct and not particularly immersive at all.

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

I am not really sure about heavy weapons myself. Survival demands a practical approach and a lot of larger weapon systems don't exactly lend themselves to that approach. Fortifying positions, maybe, but not for your run-of-the-mill scavenger. If they came with all the associated weaknesses and what have you I suppose I would be ok with it. But the idea of heavy ordinance and vehicle mounted weapons(especially) don't sit well with me from a gameplay standpoint. I don't want them implementing anything that makes me feel safe. I'm also not a fan of all our late-game gear making us look like G.I. Joe. ...Doesn't feel authentic. Perhaps a stamina system and benefits to traveling light might alleviate some of my concerns though!

Inventory effect (carry weight) on stamina?

I would like to see some benefits for traveling light!

    I cannot win this week

Best tip for you is that when you decide to be friendly? You have to do it thoughtfully. Define a code, a set of risks you are willing to take. A set of observations that can be applied to any given situation. Your own personalized rules of engagement. Whatever they may be, make sure they collectively go by two parameters: 1. You have the upper hand (Defensively, offensively, or superior positioning) before and during the time that you make contact. 2. You have an escape route Another tip is that you should consider anyone near military loot spawns as hostiles.

Glock 18 just out of curiosity

Glock 18 just out of curiosity

    Nah, to much bravado!

    Girl 'abuse' in this game

The moral of the story is don't trust anyone who bleeds for a week and doesn't die.

Glock 18 just out of curiosity

Glocks are gross. :s I demand prettier guns!

    36.115442 - What what what...can we expect?

whatever it is, it will be whined about! >.> It will probably be speculated and whined about IN THIS VERY THREAD! :o

    KOS HQ

Something just reminded me of this thread! >.> A guy came running towards me begging for help, being chased by two zombies. I was going to assist, but then I realized he had a backpack that was potentially full of goodies. BLATBLAT. Blazer rounds to the knee caps. Satisfied after watching him try to crawl away from the zombies in vain, I took out my axe and finished him and the zombies off, then pocketed some food and magnum rounds he had looted.

    About masks

^ Pretty much what I do. >.> More creative with dialogue though 90% of the time. ...And I'm sneakier.

    Did they nerv the weapons?

Our clothes and inventory are kind of acting as armor and absorbing damage :s I don't mind our things getting damaged as we take damage, but I also don't like the idea of cans of beans being bullet proof. I hardly ever bleed these days. It's either I'm fine or dead lol.
  18. Rudette

    Guns are really weak now

I think it's a bug with the gear and how it takes damage when you get hit. Right now our items/clothes are essentially acting as armor.

What to expect from the Ruger 10/22

Semi-Auto, not a very far effective range. (100ish or less yards?) Think it'll be good for guerrilla takedowns, low recoil means it's probably easy to get consecutive headshots even on moving targets if you get accustomed to the weapon.

What to expect from the Ruger 10/22

I think I saw some art/renders of it being shown off with the 30 round mag somewhere on reddit! (even though it will probably come standard with 10?) I speculate that it will be easy to aim with a decent rate of fire, probably little if any recoil.
  21. Get out. Not DayZ in the slightest. Social dynamics will change when there is more to do.

    Weapon Balance vs "Realism"

Truth. (To a degree, not all have sticky bolts or are terribly inaccurate) But. There is something so sexy about the Mosin. All that history. Reliability. Durability. And they make good 'project guns' if you're willing to kit em out! :o
  23. Because this place is a diversion! Think of it like a piece of a fly paper, only the flies are less-than-constructive people better off being stuck to this forum rather than discovering reddit!

    About masks

Do want. >.> I didn't know you could copyright anarchy! That's kind of hilarious.
