I weep for you.

They took the engine and deconstructed/reconstructed large portions of it, changes that in the long run will allow for something closer to their vision. They can use that new foundation, one prepped for the ideas they have in mind, to build something that would have been much more limited as just a mod. As this continues you will likely see performance both increase and dip as new features come in, such as with the memory leak issue and the vast improvements in server performance. But that's really is the long and short of it. You bought an incomplete game that is still in testing. You seem to have expectations of the Alpha that you would have of a finished product. Right now the game is really just a skeleton, the alot core features aren't even finished. The potential is there. It just takes time. They seem to be go going at break-neck speed with these updates. Just be patient. And there is certainly nothing wrong with taking a break if you're flustered!

What Are Your Favourite Weapons And Why? (Multiple Choice)
Rudette replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Mosin because it's a weapon I'm familiar with and it has so much awesome history. Also, I have a thing for bolt-action. Fireaxe out of necessity, melee needs to be looked at. My go-to will eventually be some type of knife. -
I've got it. The reason bandits wear military gear!

Is there anything being planned that incentivizes not shooting on sight?
Rudette replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
Please, don't be simple. False. Most people are out for themselves. Empathy is the equivalent of face saving and posturing, the mask we put on that allows us to masquerade amongst the learned morals and standards of the tribe we are born into. The internet should be proof enough of that, give people anonymity and they run rampant with it! Humans are monsters. No silly systems please. Just provide more content and more multiplicative risks to manage. Ramp up the difficulty. Make the game challenging. Social dynamics will change accordingly. Really though, this thread needs to die. Can I provide any sort of lovely distraction that will lead to that? -
What is your preferred primary/secondary weapon combo? Why?
Rudette replied to Johnny Depth's topic in General Discussion
Mosin + PU scope. Sawn-Off Shotty. Combo preforms well in the tree line and in urban areas, the two main places I fight from. The sawn-off is great for clearing buildings and dealing with anyone who's breached my sniping position. Mosin is self explanatory, the sexy yet endearingly ugly thing that it is. -
If You Could Add Anything To DayZ What Would You Add And Why?
Rudette replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
A speed advantage when traveling light! Bear Traps! High-End gear that doesn't make me look like G.I. Joe! -
Shouldn't all the core features of the game be in place before modding accessibility is looked at?

Obligatory Butt-Hurt thread. I've done some awesome things in this game, but I have a weakness. I consecutively lose every single fist fight I get into. . My latest lost? I clocked this guy in the head 3 times. His two downed me. Then the little prepubescent snot proceeded to taunt with language I'm sure his parents are proud of. Maybe it's latency or something. I don't know. But it's frustrating. I aim for the head. Is there more to it than that?

I don't think we need an artificial system that tells us play nice. I would rather there be more content, more hazards, more man vs. wild, more zombies, ect ---things that require people to group up to conquer--A better solution than some sanity system acting in the place of father figure looming over us. I think when we have more to do things will get better by default.

I would prefer busted up civie vehicles, clad in ramshodden sheet metal welding jobs if anything at all!

Bring your tank, we'll bring our Daryl >.> But seriously. No, it doesn't feel right for a survival game. Too safe.

Thanks for the bullet points Jack! -
hehe oh well! Was hoping for one of those small world scenarios ;p

Might have been me, astronomically low chance as that may be! I was once in the bottom of an apartment building--the ones with the tiles that make loud stepping sounds--- a group of armed men had entered and were between me and the exit. When I hailed them with "I don't want any trouble." and got no response I thought I was going to die or be captured and humiliated. I chose to go down swinging! Hopeless as the situation may have been. I remember moron being among the taunts before I hit respawn.

Not animal masks. But creepy. Do want.

I like it!

Saw a list on Reddit of potential recipes. One of them got me thinking about how effective this works in another game. It sets a pretty terrifying ambiance in Outlast, and could serve as another use for our batteries! Features: *Short range civilian grade nightvision! *Requires a battery(s) *Can't hold a weapon when using it. *A lootable alternative to our flashlights. *Zoom function. *When damaged the screen becomes cracked similarly to the scopes.

Cowboy hats - an invitation to shoot on sight?
Rudette replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
Ignorant? No, I do not lack self-awareness. I admitted fault in my original statement which stands as testament to that. Judgmental? I can be at times, but not always. It's a deeply ingrained personality flaw that I'm not particularly proud of. Moving? That's the plan. As I said before, my hatred of the cowboy silhouette/style is, at best, a completely illogical generalization. At least I realize that, and I'm willing to admit fault and thus change and adapt new behavior. But really, when you're told everything you do and how you do it is wrong from childhood to adult just because you choose to walk your own path rather than mindlessly follow like the rest of them? You get a little bitter. That's all I'm willing to contribute about the matter, as any more detail is deeply personal. -

Not sure how I feel about persistent containers. Depends on their implementation! -
True!

That would be neat. Or finding someone else's tape when you kill them like people are doing with notes! Get some overly dramatic something someone pre-recorded to make you feel bad.. Or pre-recorded hate letters as the case may be >.>

Is it funner by your self or with someone?
Rudette replied to macisbetter's topic in General Discussion
I either like to roam solo, or with tiny well-knit squads. Maybe 2 or three people. Big squads are hard to organize and manage, and become far less personal than a group of friends. The best part about playing with friends is that someone is covering me when I go to sip my coffee >.> I think over all I prefer solo though. Mostly because I like to travel at my own pace. -
Ah! alright. I get you.
