I believe Rocket mentioned in a stream that it was a mess, and that he would like to redo the entire system. I imagine this will change, or at the very least, the values will be tweaked.

Maybe it isn't an Anti-KOS thread, but it is still ..tiring. The only necessary deterrent is more content. Social dynamics might change when we are presented certain advantage for playing as a group or simply have more to turn on guns on than each other. We don't need to look into any sort of artificial systems to evoke any sort of penalty. What we need is a game world that is out to devour us, survival systems that are brutal and unforgiving. Rogue-like levels of difficulty and uncertainly. Really, all of these "Let's fix it" threads are completely without worth until we have seen what the community evolves into when presented with more difficult situations and heightened risk management. Edit: Sorry your thread went tits up. You have to understand, people are tired of the subject in general.

Server population - do you gravitate to large or small?
Rudette replied to Death By Crowbar's topic in General Discussion
I think the sweet spot would be between 60 and 80. -

Experience gained skills to combat things like fatigue/heart attack
Rudette replied to Chawktah's topic in General Discussion
The reward for surviving should be surviving. Skillpoint systems lead to grinding. Grinding isn't something DayZ needs---It would be entirely too tragic when combined with all our travel time and what have you. Having tabletop roots, I used to be a proponant of this sort of thinking but very good arguments have since dissuaded me. Simply isn't DayZ. Condolences. -
Survival is not just about looting canned food and ak47s
Rudette replied to Lady Kyrah's topic in General Discussion
I wish hunger was more of a threat. I remember almost starving to death once. That sense of urgency. It was thrilling while it lasted, fleeting as it may have been. I hope hunting brings some kind of leather/fur crafting with it. If people start making little shanty towns I could work out a deal. Trading skins, fur, leather, or meat for ammo or other essentials I didn't want to risk scavenging in zombie invested cities for. Though this is speculation set far far down the line in development. It all really comes down to risk management. I think any good survival game, at it's core, should be all about risk management. That's where the excitement and/or meticulous plotting comes in. Disease, hunger, thirst, the weather, hypothermia, wet, cold, ect ---- These things shouldn't be minor hindrances, annoying at best simply shrugged away with simple solutions. No. They should be ever present, foreboding, always lingering over head. They should be stressful. And don't forget the Zeds. They need to be a communal threat, one big enough that people will feel they have a common enemy between themselves and their scavenging. Different ways of achieving your goals, all with associated risks, so that people may even feel the need to trade and barter with each other. Community really feels like community when there is a basic economy behind it. Your risk for mine, my loot for yours. Of course, negotiations will always be tense, getting killed, robbed, KoS'd, ect. will always be yet another risk. I never really want to feel "safe" I want the game to be Rogue-Like in levels of difficulty, constantly out to devour me. Always stressful, always something to manage and worry about. Thats what I want. >.> DayZ: The Roguelike -
A general discussion on What order would you want things added in, or things you would like to see.
Rudette replied to brokenhope33's topic in General Discussion
Speculating on order is kind of pointless since different teams are working on different things at different paces and we might as well test them as they come. But... Zombies/Hunting/Melee weapon balance/More Crafting -
Been sick ( with fresh kiwi ? ) and cured but bugged recovery.
Rudette replied to Boulard83's topic in General Discussion
I've never tried it myself, but I think I saw some people talking about it like it did work. I can't recall if they were fantasizing or if it was true. Hear say at best! I wouldn't quote me on that. -
awwww that would have been interesting. I LOVE knives >.> :c I guess I'll just go back to reading the KoS threads and Beard threads.

Rudette replied to helcol's topic in General Discussion
Like I said on page 1. It will only get messy. Especially if I participate. Those conversations drive me to tear down and destroy, or beat my head against the brick wall that is the closed mind. Either way, I end up feeling terrible. lol. -

Rudette replied to Boulard83's topic in General Discussion
Maybe you mistook a rotten Kiwi for a fresh one? Or someone sprayed it with disinfectant. In the case that it was rotten..You're not supposed to eat those, you're supposed to force feed them to fresh spawns! -
Too much food. I wan't to feel the NEED to eat rotten food, or die of starvation.
Rudette replied to WolfgangErikson's topic in General Discussion
I am hoping the numbers change too. I remember almost starving to death only once----But that feeling was great. That urgency. We need that. -

Cattle = Herd animals = Followers = People who take the narrow view of the world they are exposed to, what they are given, and don't dare look outside it for fear of judgement. Be it the judgement of a deity or the judgement of their peers. Frustrated. Angry. Lonely, up here on my high horse where I cast judgement on those I can't even emulate long enough to form fake relationships with let alone meaningful ones. How..Personal. I won't divulge how personal. Coping with a bad situation simply by "Smiling" is not something to be proud of. That's the equivalent of putting on a mask so that your peers don't think there is anything abnormal about you. Anyone worth respecting will fight their way out of those situations rather than wallowing in self-pity or the negative attention it brings. Don't be simple. -
I've had a lot of fun with experimental lately. Switching is just a matter of seconds, maybe minutes depending on your internet speed. If it comes down to it, there is no shame in taking a break.

I can't wait for the hunting. Maybe I'll come trade leather, fur, and meat to your shanty town, then be on my way again. ;p -

Rudette replied to helcol's topic in General Discussion
Every word: True. You know what else is infuriating? People bragging on me constantly about how smart I am, begging me to fix their gadgets and devices when they break down or they screw it up... But then, regardless of how smart I am, when I have something to say they are determined not to listen to it. Or better yet, they fight against that help every step of the way. Frustrating. And despite what they say, I honestly don't feel that smart. Because I am the peice that does not fit, if I were so smart surely I could get along with the rest of them. I find the ignorance abhorrent, but I am just as disgusted by myself and my inability to cope. -

I am a touch judgmental, a personality flaw that I'm not to proud of. At the very least, I am aware of it. Community is a weakness as much as it is a strength, that is, when it grows to the point of uniformity. Free thought is still something you are persecuted for, and at the very least, ridiculed for. Even in the modern world. I suppose you are right though, my generalization is too broad. Of course, It's possible that I'm not human enough to relate. -

I am no Christian. Nor am I big on any form of organized religion. I have my reasons. Religion is messy, a topic I would rather not tread. Always ends in an argument. I'll just have to agree to disagree. -

I will give you beans, for the art and for the feels that this speech represents. I used to believe in it. But not anymore. Not in a long time. The thing is...Humans are cattle, they are machines. Perfect little productive consumers. They don't think about why they chose their religion. Their taboos. Their standards. All of these things things are provided by the culture they are born into. A sense of self is driven out of them replaced by mindless faith and a need to fit in and be part of their tribe of choice. Intellect is looked down upon, spat upon. It's more important to put on the pretty pink pinstriped shirt of popularity than it is to be your own person and make your decisions, have your own thoughts and tastes. Humans gleefully slit the throat of their own individuality to then skip and dance over it's body for that fleeting sensation of feeling loved, fitting in. Herd animals. To our core. Most people will live and die without a modicum of self-awareness. Human culture thrives on suffering and profit. -

Rudette replied to JAGTAG9606's topic in General Discussion
Oh, I'm not talking Zeds! I'm talking players. You had mentioned that uber-geared people would start running servers or some such if the military loot becomes rare. I am simply, long-windedly, disagreeing. I've broken peoples legs by knee capping them before. And head shots do more damage, yeah? There is at least some semblance of that in game. -
I wish that military gear/weapons were really rare
Rudette replied to JAGTAG9606's topic in General Discussion
That first shot would likely be a body shot, or aimed at the leg. I'd use the Bow for burst, and the pistol to finish them off. Their movement and positioning decides rather I go for head shots or body shots with my pistol. If they turn to face me instead of seeking cover, I reposition, track them, then reengage. As for the arrow penetrating armor? That may depend on the body armor, the shape of your arrowhead, and how many pounds of force your bow puts out. Your more common Kevlar vest kind of works like a trampoline that absorbs all the force, but it is not designed to withstand a bladed object cutting through that all important protective netting. In theory, a bow or crossbow could be effective against a bulletproof vest that lacks ceramic plating. Those plates would be cumbersome and noticeable, redirecting my aim to their legs. I don't care how powerful a foe might be. Even a Colossus has a weak spot, even if that weakness is merely their complacency..
