What I predict DayZ will achieve by the end of the year.
Symbiont (DayZ) replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
I seriously do not understand what all the complaining is about. I can literally walk into any damn house I desire, and pick up a can of beans and throw it against the wall, throw it out the door, even throw it into a pond. That kind of innovation only happens once in a great while in gaming. I just keep buying copies, trying to get them to 3 million - hopefully we can get someone else to catch my thrown can then. All you complainers ask for way too much. Oh, and I have a different beanie for color for every day of the week, beat that Rust, H1Z1, 7 Days to Die, and every other "zombie" sim! -
Alright, I am finally concerned about the standalone

Hey I'm not the one who started the comparison, I'm just calling bullshit on his comment. Use your "It's ALPHA" propaganda on him. -

You're seeing right now how they're responding. H1Z1 is out in what, 4 weeks? And now you have rushed, broken patches. -

You can't be serious. BF4 is actually pretty stable right now, and has been. Minus the few "core" things like tickrate. Sure they break one or two things with updates, but nothing like the list in this forum from this patch. DayZ is becoming much more like BF4 at release than being better than the current state BF4. -
Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.42.116002
Symbiont (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
1 word to describe my experimental experience so far: Beanies. Christ, there are beanies everywhere - as well as just plain hats in general...at least we'll all be fashionable and have hats for every occasion. -
Following this logic, any server with PVP in the server name, or are set to be 24/7 Daytime are in violation of rules for telling me how to play or dictating my environment. What about all the "Friendly only" servers? That to me means PVE, which just in case you haven't figured out yet means DO NOT KILL AT ALL - as opposed to what discouraging KoS is. Which also since you probably haven't figured out, even if server title said PVE you really couldn't be kicked for killing, because the person you killed wouldn't know it was you unless you were dumb enough to type ingame "HAHA I KILLED YOU" and that person just happened to be the 1 out of 40 players logged into Admin. So complaints are filed because some guy is butthurt that your server is ranked higher than his. He reports it because of words in the server name, which everyone with half a brain knows cannot be enforced anyway, when really your server is probably ranked higher because it says "2 HR Restarts" which is totally OK because something as simple as loot spawns baffle the dev team. Violations are handed out without being able to prove what activity had been done, or whether it was being done period, all because of some guys tears about being all alone on his island - and after 2 of them you get blacklisted. <sarcasm> Sounds completely logical to me. </sarcasm> After looking at Gametracker there are so many server complaint forms to fill out - just because, I better get started.

Feel free to not dodge my question and answer it, instead of pinpointing one statement.

What I find amusing is what has been pointed out multiple times. The "rule" about PVE Only is moot since a server admin cannot tell from a list of 40 players who shot them to begin with. It's a silly rule, with reasoning that doesn't even make sense. Moreover the fact that forum team members are automatically interpreting what "no KOS" infers. The FACT is, the only way this could be a punishable offense is if said player got kicked immediately after killing someone and had to ASSUME it was an admin - and with the current lax server controls how would an admin do that exactly?

Who said anything about kicking people? Does the server title say "no KOS or you will be kicked"?

A question about loot in Standalone
Symbiont (DayZ) replied to freddycunt's topic in New Player Discussion
If you want a gun, run North East to Svetlojarsk. 2nd road going into town from south side, building on right corner with ruined police cars in front of it. Go to the 2nd floor, 2nd door on the right run in and all the way to the back...almost always a gun or 2 on the metal shelves. Stay in town, you'll probably find a few more - and some ammo. 2EZ. -
Why the dayz formula will ultimately fail
Symbiont (DayZ) replied to randalmcdaniels's topic in General Discussion
It's not random enough to make that a blanket defense. Every server restart there is at least 1 gun, most likely two..on the same set of shelves in the same 2nd floor room in the Police Station in Svetlojarsk. Also, the beige building behind the church in Svetlojarsk that has the piano in the lobby, again - gun almost always on the shelf. And I can go on and on. As a fresh spawn, I take the extra time (20-25minutes sometimes) just to run all the way up there - since it's almost guaranteed I'm going to leave everytime fully geared. And I've made that trip enough times to be confident in it. -
It wasn't for what you had. It was because there is NOTHING to do in this game "yet" but get a gun, get food...shoot people.

I don't really "want" server hopping but the current state of the game begs for people to do it. And sorry, but you're full of shit if you're going to say you play full 40man servers and don't feel there's a loot issue, especially since there was a noticeable loot nerf with the last patch. You are also full of shit if you say you have never server hopped for loot. I do agree that the combat logging needs to be fixed and unfortunately there probably isn't a current way to deal with both correctly. The lack of the ability for loot to respawn on it's own, and to have to schedule server resets is really pretty sad - even at this point in the game. It all comes down to a matter of priorities, and does someone really want to try to convince me that allowing you to pick up spray paint to paint your mosin (which bugs it out to only load one round...) is really a higher priority than something as basic as loot respawning in a loot driven game? Also, there are zombies in this game? Hardly noticed, this game is pretty much about gearing up and hunting/killing your fellow man just to laugh at them. The current state of the game makes it that way.

There is no need to alt+tab and if you don't want to use the Steam Overlay no need for that either. Simply add -window to the launch parameters in Steam and it'll load the game in a sizeable window. Then the game is always up when you're in another prog.
