When most of your shirts by now have been teared up,,,, Must admit, since playing DayZ i've found myself looking at "waste" on the street more and more. Sofar I found many good stuff to make stuff from, or even papermoney on a few occassions, long live the scavangers mindset, look and be surprised with what you'll find! Just did a calculation, the game costed me about 23 euros, and sofar since ive found a 20 euro and a 10 euro note, so it made me profit even! :P

I have a suggestive/explict dayz themed experience that I'm dying to share
Elie replied to Franklysaid's topic in General Discussion
Amazing post which just shows the endless possibilities of Dayz RP... Hopefully cellars and hanging chains, fleshhooks, gagballs, facemasks and whatever will come soon too! ;) Will allow the more kinky players to have a ball also, cause after a while the handcuffs wont do the trick anymore ! Regardless whether the OP is male or female, its one hell of an interesting post, cause it shows the effects rp can have on people :) I just assume she is indeed a she, why would someone lie about their sex on a forum? Interesting also that someone replies he wont be handcuffing again after having read this topic, cause some guy might get off on it.....ow, come on, dont be that selfish, its not gonna give you aids man! Thats just imo a more deeper playing experience then shouting "You die mofo" and cap someone's head full of lead. Would rather read more topics of these kind of rp experiences then the average nag and complain about the game's development/progress, or even worse bragpost about first kill/corpse looting "bravery"... Perhaps I should try other servers, cause sofar the ingame meetings with other players have been rather boring/.predictable.... 13yrs old voice "you stop!" "No" kids shoots me and then starts to call me all kind of nasty things, even saying stuff about my mom and whatnot. Sometimes this makes me feel sad for the world ;) cause these kids one day will be in charge of it.....there goes the planet mofo! ;) Back to the coast again, looking for handcuffs this time obviously :P -
Personally I'm not much in for these ideas, but can understand the wish for them. I just love the fact that there's hardly anything visible on the screen besides what your characters eyes see. Less menus and such visible, the better the immersion imo! The excitement and confusion of getting lost and then slowly getting more familiar with certain areas each time, to me is a very big part of the enjoyment i get from DayZ. Started making a "map" on multiple pieces of old newspapers (preferably in adds that have blanco spaces in them) just for the P.A. feeling of it all. Also I'm not in a rush to get full geared up atm, I'm just happy when i find at least a bagpack and some food. The way I play garantees me that i wont be bored easily for allready knowing how it all works withing the very first few hours spend, Does make it a more realistic experience then games where there's minimaps and loots to be found around each corner. Takes effort and patience, thats something that cant be said for many other games imo, which feel like playing a speeded up musicvideo imo, nice probably for those who hardly have any real attentionspan, but we old folks like slower stuff (i do at least ....)

Practical tool for fishing also imo.... Just dont call them Britney :P

My personal opinions/remarks are : # DayZ IS a game you can get FULLY immersed into, even in it's current state... It just takes some patience and effort to get used to the whole concept imo # Advertising another game in a specific game's forum is IMO showing a lack of respect towards it's developers and players.... I sincerely don't understand why one would do that... It's comparable to e.g. being a Slayer fan and then login to the forum of Justin Bieber and advice people to buy album from Slayer.....(bad comparison I know, since I'm comparing Rust with Slayer and Bieber with Day Z, while it should have been the other way around imo...) Again, these are my personal opinions

Besides being able to shoot/melee them down it would imo also be nice to have alternative ways of taking them out, All this being hypothetical, since I've no clue if these ideas are workable at all for the devs # timed meatbombs.... Suppose you hunted down some wildlife, crafted an explosive device connected to a wind up alarmclock : set clock on wanted time....sneak near a group, toss the meatbomb in between your position and the group, sneak back to save distance, shoot, or perhaps just shout to alarm/active the herd to start moving towards you, and hope the timed meatbomb sets off as they pass it. Maybe they could smell the bloody meat and be lured towards it automaticly also. # Pitfalls.... Just remember where youve put them, so you wont fall into them yourself, also this would be nice to sabotage vehicles with imo. # Fishnet traps...tripwires and alike stuff... Just to delay them, cause logically they will eventually tear them apart and continue their ways... # blowpipe darts or (cross)bow arrows to blind their ugly faces once hitted in the eyes ((180 ! ;)...)), causing them to stumble around, screaming viciously., letting them bumb against any unseen obstacles # decapitate option. Just imagine the decoration options of Z heads put on poles, dangling on ropes near possible crafted camps/shelters. Perhaps only have this option around christmass time, for spicing up the pinetrees in the forests. And what about kidzombies? or is that edgy?...assuming the population did have kids also before they turned Z... I'm aware this might be a moral decision of the devs to NOT have minor zombies around, but somehow it sounds like a realistic option. Not saying its a must, just random thoughts that entered my deranged braincells I gues...

These tutorials so displays the depth of the game , I feel as if going back to school again to study survivalism. Pretty awesome to see there's people out there who experiment with this health issue like you do. The people in your team are Lucky to have such a dedicated person aside them. I take off my (atm) pink hat and bow deeply to you sir for being a teacher in medical treatment. Good luck with trying to keep this up with the updates to become, your efforts are clearly helping a lot of people out bigtime ! And they give me hope, knowing there's still survivors out there who keep their humanity/empathy.

Some of these animals dont attack just on sight. Boars for example are most likely to run off when spotting a human, (encountered one at the edge of a field/forestline once, it ran off like hell....luckily i assume) unless there's little baby boars near them, then it's time to reall get worried I guess. That basicly goes for more wildlife.probably But the idea of encountering these mentioned animals I'm all up for ! I pitty the vegetarian survivalists in DayZ though, or will the urge to surive outweight their moral choice of not eating meat... little, less dangerous mammals would be nice too imo... squirrels, marmots, beavers, hares, pikas, foxes, wild dogs, otters, goats, wild horses, antilopes,snowsheep,seals... But thats off topic perhaps, but nevertheless : the more meat to eat, the better for survivaling

Only once did I sofar encountered another player who yelled me to stand still, while I was actually just doing that. The oddness of that command made me chuckle He sounded like a kid (no offence...) Trembling highpitched voice (energydrink OD-ing i assumed) Sounded a bit like he was all excited if not even arroused by this, . He was fully geared and I just respawned at the coast. So i replied "No way..." and ran like hell, knowing this would probably end up getting shot in the back of my head. Indeed that was what happened. But reading all the replies in this thread makes me curious about what would happen if I had played along, or had tried to start a conversation in which i could have asked why. There seem to be many different options in interactions, something to which im looking forward to witness first hand. Sofar the interactions I encountered where kind of odd or unlogical , yet still amusing all the way. human behaviour ; an endless source of joy and embazzlement

Cheers... I've been rambling on about other ideas about vehicles also at a thread called "Vehicles....(planning)" in the general discussion section. Dont know why , but for some reason I got the tendency to go bananas sometimes in replies... Perhaps i should combine the 2 posts about vehicles, and even add more ideas to them for the suggestion section ?! "Run to the hill, run for your life " (quoting a imo lame song from a vice versa band, but it fits Dayz perfectly imho....

Russia has a pretty cold climate, and since its a survival setting it would be more logic imho that the fuel from the cars remaining would be used to burn fires in heaters etc to keep warm. So probably hardly any gasoline left in the rusty carcasses that will remain. Carbatteries would be taken out massivly to use for keeping some electrical devices working. How else would people check their facebook after the apocalypse ;) . The steel would be stripped off to serve for various new purposes (fortifying sheds, making underground huts, armor, weapons, tools, etc, etc) Same goes for the rubber of the tires, endless ways to recycle that into stuff thats more practical to have then a vroom vroom honk honk machine! And eventually the fuel supply will run drier then a nun's.....*selfcensored before risking a ban for "dirty" language* And then? You've become lazy and fat for driving around, making yourself an easier prey for zombies and perhaps even for cannibalistic bandits on selfcooked crocodile (russian meth, but even worse side effects, for it eats your skin!) Therefor I pray for sabotaging opportunities for the running lone wolfs. Running keeps your body in shape, cars obviously dont , unless you make a Flintstone version of m. There's a country in this world which proofs my point for it has the most cars and also the most obese people ; do the math! ;) Making a timer on a selfmade bomb is pretty easy with use of everyday items that could be looted in houses. So for all those carlovers : better check the bottom of your car, fueltank and engine first before going on another "look-at-us-we-got-car-cruising" raid. Or better, dont , and let those who choose to run enjoy some spectaculair fireworks of exploding car/body parts Please developers : let the lone wolf and hunting survivalists have at least some opportunities to destroy or damage vehicles also. Would love to dig out a huge pitfall for those roaring machines that scare away the wildlife we will so need to survive! Skis would be nice though once the snow starts to fall....

Loud, 10 Second Sound On Spawning, Hearable Within ~200M Spawn Delayed By 5 Secs
Elie replied to Cullis's topic in Suggestions
No...for it would scare the living daylights out of the wildlife ; making their meat less tasty/effective due to stress hormones -
Melee weapons made with salvages scraps would imo fit in a P.A. environment Boomeran with razors Poolcue with sharpened end to use as a spear for hunting More likely to be found in a russian enviroment : the sickle... Icehockey sticks, add a blade and its slicing time! too bad Babushkas are made of wood, they would make nice grenade shells if made from iron

Since I'm a newcomer to the whole DayZ experience, I'm curious about how vehicles worked in the mod, hope some of you veterans could enlighten my curiousity. Not because i'm so eager to ride a car or bike though. I actually was kind of surprised/dissapointed to read about the plan to have cars driving around in the surroundings. Imagine hunting wildlife and then some car comes racing by, scarring off the animal you finally got closer to. The animal would be alarmed and run like hell...bye bye potential protein So I'd hope tires can be stabbed flat...fueltanks can be filled with sand/Sugar/whatever does the trick to block/ruin the engine. Perhaps the spraycan can then also be used to paint the windows black, forcing the carowner to smash them to regain sight again. There's endless possibilities for other usage of the rubber from the tires also, And no, im not thinking of tireswings for near the campfire... Bikeframes could have a new purpose for tentpoles, stuff like that...

Depends on goals I have in mind when login in. If I feel like exploring to get to know my surroundings better its the Random Runner style, named after the gambling machine in rl, which is programmed to make the player LOOSE 99 out of 100 times basicly. (Born to loose, live to win! ) other Styles Ive tried sofar and their obviously failing outcomes : Anarchist style : not obeying any commands people yell at me, especially when their voice sounds like a teenager on too much energy drink. Yes im aware that I'll probably get shot in the back of my head, but id rather die then obey strangers on a powertrip. Still wonder if shooting unarmed newcomers actually displays power or just sheer fear of loosing all of that gear in an oldfashioned man to man, or in this case armed kid to unarmed man, fistfight! The book of Eli(e) style : wearing sunglasses and quoting bible passages at bandits who are trying to rob me with pantsgreedyness in their voice. Too bad I didnt have that razorsharp machette alike weapon as in the movie though, but hey, if kids love robbing my pants, who am I to take that dubious joy from m, luckily I wasnt attached to my pants anyway, I actually pissed them when getting chased by Zombies. Insane Hermit style : Speaking incoherent jibberish hoping this will confuse other humans so much that they will just shake their heads and think "im not gonna waste my precious rare ammo on this pantless fool" and run on in their neverending hunger for more pants. Or perhaps even feel sorry for me and pass me at least a can of beer or a cannister of selfmade moonshine (no clue if thats possible for now, but one gots to have dreams/hopes ) Once i get familiar with the land and its inhabintants Ill probably choose for a more serious survival style though, but being a noob atm I sort of feel free enough to experiment with different approaches when running into other humans. Basicly for me letting go of the greedyness and fear of loosing loot prefends me from becoming a revenge seeking crybaby I guess. Less is more !

Do New Players Not Understand How Hard Core This Shit Is?
Elie replied to bfisher's topic in General Discussion
I;m apparantly a so called "bambi" , but luckily did some forumreading/tutorial vids research first before i bought the game, and find it surprising indeed to see people cry about getting killed and dying from starvation, etc. Also Lucky to have a Steam friend guiding me through my first hours by sharing tips, gear, food and drinks. But as soon as I started wondering around to explore the land alone, I knew I could loose all these items by a single headshot Imo the whole fear of loosing all found loot by dying makes this game stand out above other games, in which so called "rare" loots are allover the place and respawn within a few minutes. It forces me to play cautious at times , which just makes sense considering the grim "reality" of greedy, bloodthirsty, psycopathic bandits roaming around also. But i personally do hope there will be some kind of option in the future that allows a player to e.g. dig a hole in the ground and bury a crate/box with some food/ammo stash. Thats something rl preppers/survivalists do apparantly, so it imo will add to the immersive feeling of survivaling in this game. Finally a game that takes some effort/exploring/studying to learn on how to survive for longer, this way it will be more satisfying and rewarding when one actually can survive for days in the Woods by hunting wildlife and whatnot other great options to become in the future!
