Network: Inventory items causing desync due to non-guaranteed update spam (hotfix currently until guaranteed message change is complete)Network: Optimizations to network messaging updates should result in reduced bandwidth and some increases in FPS for clients/serverFrom the 0.37.115791 patch notes. The current stable branch uses a lot more bandwidth than it needs to because there are unconfirmed updates being sent at all times. The more people around the worse it can get too. I would suggest trying the Exp branch, but it is supposed to go Stable tomorrow anyways.

You can save hot bar slots by putting all your first aid items in a first aid kit and just hot bar the kit.

Got launch options set, which one of these removes character preview at menu?
chekovp replied to wmike20052's topic in General Discussion
I used to use the maxmem, maxvram, cpucount, and exthreads, but removed them and saw no difference in ram or CPU usage. I still use the others just so the game will start up faster and just remove all of them if I want to change my character. -
I think it might mean that your leg is close to being broken. Eating and drinking till you get a healing status might make it go away in time. I'm not certain about this, just a thought.

I play on a few Canadian servers, most of which have "Friendly" in the server name. I from Vermont and have a pretty nice ping on these servers, so I'm assuming that the servers are in Quebec or surrounding areas. All in all, most of the people I've ran into on these servers are fairly nice and don't kos or are new to the game and don't know what kos is.

No flashlight currently works during the day time, but I have personally seen them all work during the night time. They also shine through walls, so I tend not to use them. Flashlights are supposed to work during the day right now on the experimental build, but I have not had the chance to test it yet. As for suppressors, the current weapon sounds are just place holders and most, if not all of them will be changed. The current M4 sound is a somewhat accurate representation of what an M4 would sound like with just a suppressor shooting supersonic rounds.

what hunger "level" are you at when you spawn?
chekovp replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
Your hunger has to go from yellow to orange, and then orange to red before you start actually starving. I'm not sure on how long it actually takes, but I've had friends run from the southeast corner of the map to the northwest airstrip without eating anything and their hunger was still only orange. -
Last I heard, all the weapon sounds are being redone and the current sounds are just placeholders. It will come in time, and I have a feeling that all the sounds will be changed at one time, so it might be a while.

Lol @ this and the rest of the slander in your post. What else can they really do? Do you seriously think that they aren't doing anything to combat hacking? You also said that you've been gaming for 30 years, have you never run into a hacker before? They is and will ALWAYS be hacks for games, especially PC games. Edit: Also, "Riddled with cheaters" might not be the best thread title. As it seems you have run into one. I can't name a single online multiplayer game that I have played and not run into a hacker on. I also have almost 200 hours on DayZ SA and I've yet to run into a hacker. I'm not saying that they aren't out there, I know they are and honestly, there always will be.

This, don't shoot while prone. At least for now.

I like this idea, maybe not sapi plates though. I personally think that putting books, or scrap metal of some sort in certain inventory slots should work like this, but obviously not be as effective. Currently I just fill my pants, shirt, and assault vest with cans of food and sodas. It seems to do the trick.

Nothing like contradicting yourself in the first sentence. Miss spoke, my apologies. But in any case, you will always be finding people like this in any game you play.

Dayz Standalone Problem andere Spieler, Zombies zu sehen und mit Sachen zu interagieren
chekovp replied to skerres's topic in General Discussion
Something similar happens to a couple of my friends that are playing on ok computers for gaming and not that great of an internet connections. We're pretty sure it is their connection, because it mostly happens during times that more people would be using their internet, or if someone else is using the internet for Netflix or something else that eats up bandwidth. They also don't lose voice chat during these times, which we use steam chat for. We could be wrong though. The game is known for using a LOT more bandwidth than any other game out there and a lot more than it needs too. This is currently being worked on and there is a possible fix out right now in the experimental branch. -
I wish I was at home so I could post a pic of my char with a orange boonie, orange raincoat, black pants and green child's briefcase. Edit: I need orange rain pants....!

So my gun wouldn't fire so what was wrong with it?
chekovp replied to thelonewarrior's topic in General Discussion
Did what you were carrying the Magnum in (pants, shirt, etc.) become ruined? Last I knew, if you have a sidearm in your hands it still counts as being in your inventory and will become ruined if the item holding it becomes ruined. I had this happen to me a while ago at the Balota Airstrip. I was scouting the Airstrip from the outside wall to the south when I saw someone on the inside of one of the breaks in the wall staring right at me. I raised my Magnum and shot twice before I was shot in the chest with a shotgun and was unable to fire anymore shots. The shot had ruined the assault vest I was wearing at the time and it had my Magnum in it and it became ruined. At first I didn't know why i was unable to shot at first, but then i locked to find that my assault vest and everything in it was ruined. I now carry all my important things in my backpack and also in a tough box if I have one or more. As of last I checked you can hotbar items in a tough box, so you can have quick and easy access to them while keeping them well protected. -
Because money means nothing in the world of DayZ?

Soloing deep north on a hardcore server....
chekovp replied to Ineedscoffee's topic in General Discussion
I would really love more towns added to the northern border of the map, but all in due time. I do tend to spend a lot of time up north with friends testing view and sound distances, since it is almost always uninhabited. -
The Mosin should also have stripper clips for it in the future.

What part of the 'life cycle' do you enjoy most?
chekovp replied to -MadTommy's topic in General Discussion
I prefer being a new spawn and looking for gear and weapons. I really do enjoy running around with nothing and looking through buildings while being chased by zombies. -
I have also shot plenty of people in the torso with a Mosin and they just keep running(edit: while bleeding). Every once and a while I will one shot someone and they will be unconscious, but a one shot kill with anything is either a headshot or they were already low on health.

I currently have one on the regular experimental servers, I do not remember where I found it though. It has four slots all next to each other so you can't put anything in it like water bottle, magazines, or anything else that is 2 or more slots high. Like below. □□□□

Poll: How many people would survive the apocalypse?
chekovp replied to KarmaCoin's topic in General Discussion
Lol @ all the "after 5 years, shit would be worse than at the start" posts. 5 years after any sort of apocalypse, things would be nothing but better. The population would be growing and technology would start coming back into play. Even if 99% of the worlds population was wiped out, that still leaves over 70 million people left alive. That was the worlds population around 750 BC. People would still be killing each other, just like they do now. But people would have formed groups, tribes and such and the killing would be over land and hunting grounds, just like it was back in 750 BC. I really doubt that people would still be hunting other people just for kicks, except for the crazies who will always do that. Just my opinion -
Nothing is a one shot kill in the game and I'm pretty sure its going to stay that way. The only one shot kills out there are headshots from any ballistics weapon. Edit: Personally I prefer to use a sawn off shotgun as a sidearm, I think it would be cool to try a sawn off B95. I also wish you could saw off a shotgun as much as they did in the beginning of the movie Killing Them Softly.

To DayZ or not to DayZ: that is the question.
chekovp replied to gadyuka's topic in General Discussion
Last I knew Dean Hall wasn't actually doing much work on the game. Just reviewing any major changes and working on things here and there. Plus a lot can happen in 1-2 years, Dean could even end up staying or the game could be complete. -
Restarting a server to farm loot is against the rules for servers, so restarting a server for loot after respawning loot is put in could cause the server owner to lose the server.
