  1. I like this.. and think its going to be a huge need for when base building comes in. Was the same issue with barbed wire in the mod.. You saw a tent surrounded by barbed wire.. All you had to do was jump on another server and move over enough to be sure your right next to the tent.. Then log back into the original server. Although I would have it that if you change to a different server, you would spawn at any distance only north or south of your original servers position. In this case it will keep people from trying to jump all the way inland from the beach and such.
  2. Not really... I would say they are possibly using this as a quicker way to gear up just to server hop themselves to get to where others are so they can kill people quicker. Also as well.. You get shot or taken down.. You can just jump back to the safety of your server that you kick everyone else from.. Kinda silly really to say its not a issue.. Most I can say is its in alpha so glad its happening now. Lets alot of people complain so by the time beta is done this will be dealt with already.. Bump to keep it noticeable...
  3. Its alot of testing right now more than actually playing til they get more in.. You get gear, try out some things and see how they work, report in problems and such. In the end, you go looking to get yourself killed.. Even things currently on "stable" might not be there come times its out of alpha and into beta. I dont think anyone should be looking at DayZ as something they should be putting alot of time into as of yet besides testing. So really its fine your friend are playing other games, you as well..

KoS's Updated KOS Reduction Topic for DayZ SA

I like it some.. It will get people to actually working on their character instead of just fooling around. But I also would be even less likely in giving another person a chance because not wanting to restart and deal with the hellish beginning. Great for keeping people off the shores... Anyone inland ill just shoot even more because I wouldnt want to be back starting on the shore. As you said bandits happens. I see this would increase KoS massively.. This will just guarantee that I would never trust anyone unless I already knew them.. Want to keep people off shores killing fresh spawns? I doubt thats going to happen.. You can even track peoples stats and have it on the website which according to Dean, might be in the future... Those thats wants to kill still will.. This will just make it happen much more inland and not care what my stats are if it shows i have 200 friendly kills or not cause hell if im going back to spawning on the beach.

    Door Opening System

I would like if "open door normally = F" would more so just being unlatching the bolt holding it closed.. Not much of a fan that doors are a complete animation for opening/closing more so and cant just be swinging freely if they are open. This would allow you to push doors open slowly or just run full out into them and they would swing open quickly.
  6. This guy gets it... Only thing currently to do is get gear, test out some things, then try and get yourself killed while killing others. Rinse and repeat.

    electric fence (base building)

Before anything.. I want to see something implemented to keep someone from just hopping servers back and forth to get inside of a players built base.. Pretty much making your electric fence idea or even base building altogether, pointless. If you can just go to another server, move 10 feet over, then log back into the original server and be inside the base. Why even bother building a wall to keep anyone out?
  8. I dont necessarily say they are bad so to speak. They represent the harshness that you may experience in DayZ.. I bet you learn and will adapt from the experience and are a bit more cautious in the future. These players are needed in the game just as much as those that play purely as medics, or those willing to toss a can of beans or a handgun to those in need. Likewise as well the ones who will just sit and watch as youre chased by a few zombies. Theres a order to the chaos... Everybody plays their part.
  9. Indeed.. I think blood on hands would be good for even medical stuff in game honestly, also hunting.. But the article shows they are looking to the community for ideas.Imo, I dont think there should be anything visual, just whats on your stats... Whenever they bring in stats.. They just need to make the stat taking smarter. That alone I think would be enough. Its still the persons decision to kill or not.. Just its up to them now if they want to take that chance and end up seeing friendly kills on their stats. Even that, bandit kills and what not.. Just yeah.. Think the stat system needs to be made smarter.. To add, I believe it was mentioned at one point that players stats would be available on the website possibly down the line.. That I think is as far as it needs to go in being able to tell what kind of player someone else is. Keeps it out of the game as well.
  10. http://www.pcgamesn.com/dayz-creator-dean-hall-talks-humanity-barricades-damaged-weapons-and-all-sorts-other-stuff "I think we need to work with the community and come up with something" Better to have one long thread open compared to 20 small threads.
  11. They probably wont because Dean himself has said they are looking for suggestions from the community for a humanity system. But not so much one thats easily noticeable.
  12. I could see a purpose for having something.. Just cause theres no reason NOT to shoot currently... I dont necessarily think you should be able to straight out just look at someone and say "oh hes a bandit" or "look at him, hes friendly".. You cant tell someone is a killer in real life just by looking at them.. Now, I also dont think someones actual gameplay should have a negative effect to it because how you play..Peoples suggestions of hearing voices, graphics being weird and all that.. I dont think any of these are good ideas... The idea I would suggest and the farthest I would go with it is when stats are brought into the game.. This I believe would make people think more before pulling the trigger.. Somthing really that will make you think about if you would want to look at your stats and see that you killed a bunch of friendly players? Likewise as well, with these stats you will be able to tell how many bandits you have killed as well.. It would put a bit more into the thinking of should I fire or not.. Obiously people who KoS and bandits will still do what they want which is fine.. I believe Dean spoke at one time of being able to see players stats on the website so while its keeping being noticeable out of game, your actions will still be noticeable on the website. Reasonable in my opinion. I would even suggest that the stat for killing friendly players would decrease overtime.. Sorta a way for those who wants to play as a bandit/KoSer to keep at it to keep that number up, but also allows the friendly who might just have a couple friendly kill to be able to lose it over time. This would also give those who play as a full out bandit/koser a chance to still be "friendly" player over time if they decide they want to.. To add to this as well, if you kill someone with only a few friendly kills, I dont think it should count for you as killing a bandit. They should have at least 4 or 5 friendly kills for them to be considered a bandit kill on death. This is as far as I would go in bringing something like this into the game.. Its has no effect on actual gameplay but still makes it so you think about the decision to shoot or not because it has some reflection on your character.
  13. Not a fan of playing first person only and not a fan of people using 3rd for its ability to see people and infested around corners and over walls. If people want to keep 3rd person how it is now for whatever reason well than thats fine.. Make it so whoever is running the server can choose between 1st person only, both, or both with LoS fixed. If not ill just end up dealing with 3rd person how it is now since the majority of my gameplay isnt really dealing with other players as much.
  14. I still think a good fix would be if you leave the original server you are on for a separate server. You should be spawned randomly on the map.. Do it too many times, you become a fresh spawn on the beach.. Just the issue I see now and will always see is even with loot respawning.. People will still sit at the military base and wait out the current timer and just server hop. They would do the same thing no matter where they are at compared to actually traveling somewhere else. On top of this reason on why I like it, theres also the issue soon to be coming with base building.. Now, anyone knows from the DayZ mod that if you saw a tent with a bunch of barbed wire around it.. The easiest way to get to the tent is remembering the exact spot and just going to that spot on a different server then relogging back into where the tent is, putting you inside the barbed wire.. This is going to be a issue with base building that is also going to definitely need a fix.. Otherwise whats the point of building a base if someone can easily enough get inside it? Ill just stick with hiding tents in the forest. To me, this fixes ghosting, server hopping, and getting inside bases once they are implemented..
  15. I think headshots only to kill infected would be a good idea to implement into hardcore servers since they are looking for more ideas to bring to them.
  16. I dont know how anyone could be against this idea coming to standalone... If there is anyone who even is against this kind of fix..

Regular vs Hardcore: Why do you play?

Oh im not saying that hes wrong as far as its being possible to happen.. Theres many cases in history that shows its very possible(military channel is awesome)..Im just saying for all we know, unlike real life, dude couldve been looking away from the monitor as why he didnt see him. Also still agree that the chance to have been seen wouldve increased if having a 3rd person view. Still would like 3rd person fixed and not just "go play 1st person only"..

Regular vs Hardcore: Why do you play?

Agree with the video some, 3rd person wouldve made him spotted easier.. I think the dude who almost stepped on him but didnt see him though was more so probably not looking at his monitor.. Just out of personal experience, if im on the move or following someone.. My eyes arent always on the monitor.. More likely its on the map on my laptop or even the tv. Its possible what he says later in the vid, just to me seems unlikely..

Regular vs Hardcore: Why do you play?

Its stating that the person would've been seen with 3rd person view while since it was 1st person only, he wasn't seen. Which is pretty true to some point.. 3rd person would've made him to be more easily revealed. Outside of this, some of it can be seen as opinion.

Regular vs Hardcore: Why do you play?

Im not in much situations for it to matter as probably why I dont mind it too much that people do it. Do I still hate the fact that people use the 3rd view to exploit a advantage against other players? Surely do.. But, I will still play in 3rd person servers though plainly cause I enjoy playing in both views, something that will probably become even more enjoyable to me when more concepts are implemented into the game that isnt just dealing with other players. The only time I really cared to play in 1st person only servers as of yet is if I feel like sitting in a town to find some people to fight against. Personally I hope 3rd person gets fixed like others and I suggested to remove the ability to exploit it while still keeping 3rd person view available.
  21. You learn fast that the best sniper spot is the one you never stay in permanently... Play for a bit and you start recognizing the areas along and in the treeline that usually have a clear line of shot on a few places in the cities. Personally.. I find people pretty easy in the trees more than in the cities. Sit in hiding and wait for that gunshot to go off thats not in the direction of town. Youll be sure to find someone if you look well enough. to add.. On that note as well.. Cant wait til audio is fixed more.

bridge between map and utes (late content)

I think I remember Dean mentioning at some point more maps and connecting them some how. Sometime last year though way before we saw alpha.

Regular vs Hardcore: Why do you play?

I enjoy the ability to switch between 1st and 3rd more. Ill deal with people using the advantage that currently comes with 3rd person.. Also want them to fix the advantage of third person while still allowing you to be in 3rd.. Staying just 1st person i dont know, I find myself getting sleepy playing in just 1st person... Theres more to the game than just worrying about assholes who use the advantage of 3rd person when it comes to "banditry" for me to just keep to playing in only 1st person servers. I play 1st person servers sometimes rarely, but only if i feel like just running around cherno and such to kill people. In my opinion, I hope hardcore isnt defined by view come time when the game is out of alpha and beta. I hope hardcore is more so first and third person view, but with third person fixed so you dont have the view advantage as shown in the 2017 mod. Otherwise ill probably never fully play a "hardcore" server much.
  24. Yeah as far as the server hopping idea, in the case of accidental disconnecting. I would think as long as you go back to the original server you d/ced from it shouldnt effect you.. Its just if you switch to a different server other than the original one you are on or d/ced from. It would be nice if on the main screen or something it showed the last server you were in. Or... Put a date/time column on the server history screen to sort by so you can see which was the last you joined.A combat logging fix just needs to be sure that if the person is in combat(i agree), it shouldnt make you have to rush instead of playing strategically to get to the person incase hes trying to log out, like whats possible now with the 30 second timer as stated with my example above.. In all other situations of not being in combat, I think the 30 seconds is perfectly fine.
  25. Still think the best fix to server hopping is if you are currently on one server, if you go to another server, you should be placed randomly on the whole map... Switch too much and you are a fresh spawn on the beach. Obviously a fix better suited when item respawns are in place... Just think you shouldnt be able to just hang out at a military base searching a bunch of servers for loot. This would get people exploring more on one server. The added benefit of this is it also as well would be benefiting base building since you wouldnt be able switch servers to get inside someones base, a big issue thats sure to come in the future. Was a issue in the mod, made barbed wire pointless since you can just go to another server and position yourself to be inside it, then head back in the regular server. Combat logging needs to have something in place that if you shoot your gun or melee, it should be a added 5 minute timer before your character logs out... Right now 30 seconds is too short and still benefits the combat logger hiding in a house.. It forces you to make a rush instead of playing strategically because everytime the player hiding stops shooting, he could be tempting to log out quickly. Although still need something as well for the guy who runs and hides when being shot at and tries logging out fast. Maybe if a bullet lands in the general area around the play it starts a timer something longer than 30 seconds before you can logout your character
