As far as the person saying "It doesn’t help being a girl in this game, so bye.” before shooting you.. To me that just sounds like looking for reason to shoot moreso than being actually true that its just more reason to have to fire at you. I told a guy before his raincoat made him look too prepared for rain that I should put some holes in it before I shot him... Was it true? not at all... =p Not doubting that some do have issue with playing with females, but personally I see that more in people below a certain age or maturity level. Just as much worried that Ill be shot in the back same as if it was a guy =pAs far as voice changing software... Screw that... Join or hang with a well established clan.. If not that, eventually youll meet up with people who are a bit more mature... Hell, Ive been playing this since the mod and Ive yet to find people to hang and play with outside of those I was friends with before playing the game.. The only time I have and being constant hanging with people known strictly from ingame is when I was really dedicated to a clans private hive in the mod.

Why are there basically no 3pp:off servers - grow a pair.

This is what it comes down to. Despite anything that gets done to official servers come full release. Be it 3rd person is fixed, taken away, both views only for official servers, whatever they might have planned, im sure they will be different from what we have now. It wont matter much. Ill be playing on a private hive that allows both views with something in place that makes it so people cant see over walls and such.. Its already being worked on by the 2017 mod people for one way(which they are making available to others) and now they even picked up some of the crew who was keeping the dayz mod updated. Hell, Ill probably end up just playing the 2017 mod instead. The official hives wont last forever anyways. They will also most likely filled with idiots because they arent being admined as much as private hives. -
It was a few months ago but one of the devs did speak of bring more hardcore elements to the "hardcore" hive. Of course that was a few months ago, being in this stage of development you cant even really be sure anything on server preference will be like it is now. Hives could be completely different by the time beta is out.. Kinda like how they been testing spawn points. They are going to go with whatever works best, we could end up back with one hive.. For everything else, you have private hives. Which really, private hives will be what outlasts it all, official hives wont last forever, that has already been confirmed. Going back to one hive isnt really issue as well if that ends up being the case.. Ive had more time playing and enjoying the mod on a private hive thats actively admined responsibly. As long as the Dayz dev team works out all the kinks to provide quality options for private hive owners, it really doesnt matter what happens to hardcore and regular servers. Just give me a more user friendly server browser so I can see what kind of elements are in place on private hives.

The difference between normal and hardcore servers? I do see the difference, all im saying is I have spent so many hours on both kinds of servers and in each, the times Ive had actually running into someone is so minimal that there isnt much difference to me. And no I dont play on night servers, that was more just comparing how those who say if you dont play at night, you suck. Like how people on hardcore servers say those on normal suck. That was moreso aimed at those who wants to give people crap for playing on normal servers.. Who cares what people choose to play. Now.. Understandable some jackass can get the drop on me in a normal server, but I dont spend time in areas that seem to attract those just looking to just pvp so it never seems to happen, unless someone is seeing me and they just arent killing me =p I have died before though, it doesnt seem any different from dying on a hardcore server so hell if i know they were looking over a wall or around a tree or not to first notice me(on a normal server, they most likely were). If a guy has the drop on me, well then they have the drop on me, in either kind of server. The only positive thing I see about first person only is the pvp aspect, I just dont play the game to run around looking for people to kill so it doesnt phase me much. When I do end up seeing someone I either sit back and watch what they do from the treeline and follow them a bit, or just go back to what I was doing. Ive had my intense standoffs before with trying to figure out whos friendly and who isnt, usually it ends up good but sometimes its a gunfight. Probably the only pvp I ever really had as of late. I am also all for fixing third person so you dont have a advantage while still having third person view available. -

I dont record videos but this has happened in 3pp servers as well so I dont see the point. Could they not have been paying attention and just watching something other than the screen? Quite possible, I dont believe he asked them. Could what he say be possible? it definitely could be.. Unlike being in a real situation though, some people have second monitors with a map on, tv going, bullshitting in TS, a bunch of other things that couldve been reason for not seeing him.Personally I play first and both view servers depending which my friends are playing on at the time. Do I see much difference? No. In 4 hours of the time I play in a night we might run into one other person that can account for 10 minutes of that time played. Do I hate that people use third person to see over shit? of course... but it happens rarely that I just dont care. Maybe its because I dont just chill waiting for someone to shoot. Seeing what plans they have to make weapons and ammo extremely rare as well as other things like heli engines when its gets out of beta, im not going to care even more. Happy they are going away from this being about pvp because of the abundance and ease of finding weapons and ammo and going more towards hardcore survival that still requires player interaction(good or bad). I do see the benefits of having just first person view in close quarter combat and such, just doesnt happen much for me with how I play the game. I also enjoy being able to see my character and such and being in third when running around not killing infested and what not. In all, who gives a shit what view people play the game in.. people dont play on night servers as well and people bitched about that. If theres few servers that are full because people dont care to play in those conditions, oh well. -
I thought I saw something about those coming back... As far as the OP.. There was a post awhile ago from one the devs.. All the weapons will eventually be extremely rare, sorta like the plans of what they are doing with the helicopter engine. The only reason you have sorta of a abundance at the moment is because its not the finished version yet. Guns, ammo, other things as well. Theres alot right now because its testing.. As it gets closer to being out of beta, all these things are going to be alot more rare. This is one of things out of many being done in the future to make it alot more of a hardcore survival game.. Finding a m4a1 easily or any kind of gun for that matter, also hundreds rounds of ammo, supposedly it wont be like this once its closer to being out of beta.
-
I always found helicopters to be one of the easiest trails to follow that eventually led to finding someones base camp. The bus takes first place though, such a nice dust path. Quite the fun and intense times :)
-
Kinda pointless... You can just go to a site that tracks server based games like gametracker.com and see whos on what server..
-
The reason its so easy to find loot and gear up currently is because it is alpha pretty much.. Have to remember this is testing... It has been stated that around beta though the central hive will be balanced.. They havent really said much exactly on how rare some things will be, but they did say guns and ammo will be made very rare so enjoy it while it lasts..

Regular Vs. Hardcore servers - What is the difference
cels replied to Goucho's topic in General Discussion
The way I see it, Hardcore servers is intended more so for those who see this as strictly a pvp game.. it makes close quarters combat quite a bit more balanced. If youre like me, where you can play for 4 hours and maybe have a chance to interact with another person in about 10 minutes of that time, it really makes no difference which you play and is all just preference. I play hardcore and normal and in both, the only time I die is from someone I dont even know is around. And thats only maybe a 1/4 of the times that i actually encounter another player.. The rest has been pretty easy going. Personally now though I play normal more.. Scavenging just seems like a pain in the ass with only first person view(love the top of lockers that you cant get the item off of -.-). That and I enjoy looking around a bit more(to me) with a better perspective. Granted you deal with people who like to just pvp and will sit in buildings and just wait looking over walls and such in Normal.. But its a very rare occasion... Personally I think people come on here and bitch when they die and use that as a excuse :P Like i said, equally on both servers Ive been killed out of nowhere quite the same.. Maybe when they actually start making the environment much harder in hardcore I will enjoy hardcore more. Seemingly though, I dont know what it will be.. I know they said its definite that guns and ammo(as well as other items) will eventually be made extremely rare. But I think thats intended for all servers. -
Agree with this... Also is why you see so many say its game heavily based on pvp... right now yes thats true. But what they should really be saying is its a game based on player interaction.
-
Pretty much.. Brian Hicks recently said 3rd person isnt going anywhere and I believe Dean even said they have some fixes coming to 3rd person down the line. I play both.. and like you said if people dont enjoy it, dont play it.
-
Because I have 200+ rounds of ammo is more reason why I shoot first. What else is it for? Infested? Melee takes care of them perfectly fine(gets a little hectic with a few after you). Even when hunting was in the mod I never used ammo to hunt. I hope when they start balancing the loot on the hive(which is the plan down the line), that ammo and firearms is one of the things that is made very rare almost like the helicopter engines.. Finding 3 bullets should make me happy even if its for 3 different guns that I dont have. You want this to be a hardcore survival game.. Make it so.. Right now its just a fps with more features... People can still be deadly.. This would just make you decide on should I use my ammo on the guy running across the field? Or save it for when im overrun with too many infested?
-
Little question on melee weapons I havent been able to test just yet. In order to connect with your swing of the bat, axe or whatever. Do you have to hit exactly on the little crosshair to connect? or does it take in the whole area of the swing? Never had issue with taking down infected much with melee just sometimes I notice it seems like I completely whiff and they are right in front of me...

Alright, I am finally concerned about the standalone
cels replied to JimmyGate's topic in General Discussion
They didnt bother to rush before to push out Dayz when another game came out, I dont think they are now.. And people will play what they want to play.. It could be this, it could be that, it could be both.. It could be something else completely.. -
Right now everything seems easy to do... But also not much is fully in play yet.. I believe at some point we are going to be running around with a extra pair of shoes because they are suppose to wear out heh... I dont think they will ever get to deciding how difficult to make something til all the kinks gets worked out in beta..
-
I blame the ease in getting ammo.. Even if they add a bunch of things to do, if im sitting with over 300 rounds between 2 characters(and thats without server hopping), alot of people are going to be KoSed.. I mean, I already have my group of friends that I run around with.. Why should I trust someone I dont know... If they make zombies a huge pain in the ass that you would shoot rather than melee as well as make ammo very scarce, and I mean to the point of having 3 bullets will make you happy in the pants heh. Thats really the only way I see anything changing. Maybe stat tracking for those who dont like having certain stats attached to their character.. But really to me, its the ease of getting alot of ammo. Im sure I will still be running around with those 3 bullets saving them for when I see someone I dont know cause I also enjoy running around kosing.. or with a baseball bat.. but yeah.. Right now, Its way too easy :P Its not even a matter of theres nothing else to do imo... 3 bullets compared to 300 will make me think if I really want to shoot this guy in front of me or save it for a better use... Or just go at him with a baseball bat :P At least with the bat it would be a bit more challenging.. edit: Come time when storage is possible.. I will have even a much bigger stash of ammo ready.

Is there anything being planned that incentivizes not shooting on sight?
cels replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
People consider this a pvp game more so than a hardcore survival game. Will that change when more aspects come into play? Maybe... -
Oh I wasnt saying it as a hit on 1st person view. Just saying theres more to be added to what hardcore will be supposedly besides view.I enjoy hardcore servers for pvp.. But thats about it...
-
If you read over Brian Hick's comments when they first implemented hardcore servers.. You will see they want to add much more than just view to what hardcore is to be.
-
Weapons need to spawn with atleast 1 magazine in them.
cels replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
I think there should be alot less ammo.. Personally I would have it be a pain in the ass to find a single round in a box.. I dont find it very "apocalyptic" that I have over 200 rounds of different kinds of ammunition. And thats not from server hopping. You would think in this kind of scenario, the hardest things to find would be ammo and food. Id rather people have to make ammo as well as gunpowder being difficult to find. edit: to those who are having trouble finding ammo, get off the beach. -
Give it a month or so and the people who want third person to keep the view advantage will be telling those who wants 3rd person to not have this ability to go play h1z1 since they are fixing this issue.
-
Still happens now though.. Just you dont know if the same person is doing it or not or whos really out there that might just be around to kill people. You could argue that its like that because that is all there is to do in the game.. But its always been a part of the game.. Look how elektro and cherno was in the mod.. Thats getting to be Berezino now. I guess in a way thats better since it brings more wonder to the game. But it also just hides those who wants to KoS contantly. No matter what the devs do, there will always be a part of the playerbase that wants the CoD feel more than the survival. For that I bet once you see modding and private hives, youll start seeing servers offering gear again right from spawning if its possible.

Only thing I really miss is the server messages that came up when someone died.
