Or just force respawn if they switch from a PVE to PVP server. Really, this isn't a huge thing to figure out.
-
Nope. I've already pointed out you could keep playing on PVP servers while those not interested in such time wasters could go to PVE.
-
It isn't something that would significantly impact KOS or not KOS though. People are already so heavy into KOS that adding self IV administration will not impact it significantly. It only allows people to justifiably treat their own wound appropriately. If you want to eliminate KOS, then go ahead and eliminate self administration of bandages while you are at it. You have to be with a team mate or you bleed out from the slightest wound.

My more recent experiences suggest it's already like this, people shooting on sight, without any interaction of people anyway. So you're a day too late to complain about potential rampant KOS and griefing.

And what are you going to do on a PvE server? Hand out numbers and make sure people keep their place in line, while they wait for their turn to loot a military base? See, you can't play as a friendly, if PvE is enforced, because there's no friendlies, if there's no bandits. There's just people going around asking: "Do you need anything?" and other people answering: "Maybe a few bandits, because I'm bored to death." That's a legitimate response, and the problem is that having other people to kill and be killed by other people is just about the only thing the game has implemented so far. More zombies need to spawn to keep PVErs entertained, larger groups and variety of styles would be interesting. Also, many people and I personally like exploring the world, seeing what there is to see. I was really tickled when I found a plane half way through a hotel in one city. People still get hurt, sick, need food so you could still interact with people and help them out. I personally liked patrolling one of the towns near a common spawn point to help keep it clear of zombies for the new spawns so they aren't killed right off the bat. Just because you only see the appeal of PVP doesn't mean that it's the ONLY appeal to users. Again, you could keep your PVP servers and there would be many of them, but many other people would enjoy a PVE server.

And a kill shot at 100 yards on a moving target in any sort of breeze with a sniper rifle even with a high powered scope is difficult without training. And a proper bandage to stop bleeding is difficult without training. And vehicle repair like they plan on implementing is difficult without training. Driving if you have never driven before is difficult without training. Unless the developers plan to implement a skill tree for doing things there's no point in arguments like that, we'd all be doing things in game that are difficult to do in the real world without training. I have talked to nurses though and they have told me they would have no problem at all using an IV on themselves. So if you can use an IV on another person in game you would be able to use it on yourself.

And nothing at all would be changed on a PVP server. You can continue to keep your challenge of dealing with douche bags and enjoy all the perks.

I didn't say I was being 'killed over and over by snipers' I pointed out that you made a suggestion that it takes skill to not die in the game, and I pointed out how in some cases there is no skill involved it's simply dumb luck. Do you really think that having a maximum of 40 people in game at a time doesn't have a significant impact on that dumb luck that you and a sniper aren't in the vicinity of a 225 square kilometer map?
-
I really don't care how other threads went. This is a problem with the game that should be corrected.
-
Did you miss the point about 'through a forest?' A sniper in a nest, at any location, can take out any player simply in the wrong place at a wrong time. You can't sense someone looking at you in a game, please don't act like somehow people know when someone else is around in a game. It is simply a matter of someone camping at some location killing people for no reason other than to grief. That isn't 'skill' to not be shot, that's simply dumb luck you aren't in an area with a sniper.
-
How many pets have you secretly murdered in real life?
-
You walk along a road, or through a forest, and "POP" black screen 'You are Dead' message comes up. What 'skill' pray tell, would have prevented a sniper laying down in an underbrush waiting for someone to come by and kill them?
-
You know why people keep bringing it up? Because it's a problem that gets worse and worse as the game becomes more mainstream and it's going to end this game.

I'm not sorry at all about directing people away from this game in it's current state. I wouldn't wish the level of frustration of dealing with those 'bored players' on friends. Yes, it's Alpha, so I'm not bothering to complain about the bugs or glitchy rubber banding or other twerky behavior. I have no problem with the way rubber banding send me off the top of a building under construction because it snapped me back at an inopportune time. That's Alpha. But allowing a core decision like allowing PVE only servers is something that needs to be addressed early and not wait until after a full release because if that's the case then you've already alienated a large player base before the full release. Make the game be compatible with 100% of available player base and you have a more successful game than a game that is set to only be compatible with 20-30% of players.
-
Sorry, that's not good enough. If you want, double the duration of the IV bag if used by self before it takes effect, but there's simply no good reason to block it.
-
You can give shots to yourself, you can bandage yourself, you should be able to give IVs to yourself as well. I agree that they shouldn't be instant. A good 30 seconds or 1 minute use to get the effect would negate use of it in combat.

Allow me to sum up most of the replies: "Blah blah blah don't take away from our griefing ability blah blah blah" Sorry folks, the only ones who have cause to complain against the idea of PVE and PVP servers are those who would grief. You would never be forced to go to a PVE server, you could keep doing exactly what you are doing. And no, there is no SKILLS involved keeping from being sniped 100 yards away or shot in the back by someone who sneaks up on you or someone who as you run by a buying comes out firing full auto. That is just people looking to ruin games for other people. The Day Z Mod was a very niche game that had only people who bought ARMA 2 and installed the mod. The Day Z standalone game is a game that is available for the entire Steam community, of which, many people are just total assholes. Congratulations, you've invited the internet into your game now, and the internet is filled with assholes. The game will just continue to get worse as more of these pathetic excuses for people populate the game and seek to disrupt everything else. I welcome people on PVP servers to deal with them, but I and many others simply will not.
