People love to get gear and then camp in 3pp, only popping out from behind a wall or on a roof to shoot at others.. They also like watching themselves performing actions and looking cool in their gear. Hardcore is where it's at..Sure, you still have campers, but at least you can see them when they see you. Makes firefights more fun, makes looting more intense, helps equalize pvp.. I mean, come on

is there a way to switch b/w two rifles without dropping one?
Chawktah replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
Its a baby shotgun you can put in your bag. 2 shots vs 6/15.. pretty easy choice for me -
WARNING for the new berries that are soon to be implemented!
Chawktah replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
Makes sense.. If you are like me, you already know the two different plants and which one wont poison you. Of coarse, I learned the hard way -
Freshies have a lust for the blood of a better geared player.

Chawktah replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
Ehhhhhh... The shotgun can be a real pain in the ass, better be ready to run when you miss. I would suggest just dropping one of the rifles, its just not worth the run speed penalty, unless you are in a city looking for a good fight. -
Stealth kills; strangulation, suffocation or hunting knife.
Chawktah replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
I think it's an interesting idea.. They would definitely need to improve some of the melee functions, then perhaps add an action where you can knock someone out from behind. Idk about killing them, but there should definitely be an easier way to knock someone out all stealth like. Maybe depending on your weapon it would knock them out or slit their throat or stab them in the spine, idk... -
I have never rage quit in this game... Been frustrated, but that's about it. Usually caused by silly things like the melee system or game glitches. There was an instance where a friend and I had logged into a 38/40 in sniper positions around Electro. I was up on the sniper hill with a decent load-out including the mosin/compensator/long range scope/bipod, and was spotting a target that had engaged my friend outside the city. I was getting ready to fire a round, when i heard footsteps, and before i could really react I was axed to death. My friend looked up at my position and took out one of two bandits, but when i got back up there my body had been looted and hidden, and there were two other bodies around, no loot though. So, I went off into the woods to find this jerk who stole my Mosin. He was a little ways into the woods, prone and looking for my friend who shot his, and I approached him from behind. My friend couldnt locate the guy, so I decided to go in there and knock him out.. I should have been able to, the dude was wearing a beanie on his head, so I figured it would be easy... Holy balls, it was the most frustrating thing I have yet to encounter in the game. Since he was prone, I wasnt able to hit his head, I was hitting his shoulders and back It looked like, but couldnt connect with his head. I even moved from his front left to front right, punching the whole time, but he never got knocked out and after maybe 6 punches he put a round into me and killed me. Talk about complete chit.. I've been knocked out with a single punch and yet couldnt manage it on some prone turd.. Totally aggravating.

Concretely: what differs the pro from the noob?
Chawktah replied to MarchmelloMan's topic in New Player Discussion
Pros don't ask questions... Noobs, well, I think you get the idea :) -
Forum admins need to remove all these posts. Obv these trolls aren't using the SEARCH feature before sounding off. Get the big picture, DAYZ is moving ahead, while you live in the past

I know barricading is about to be tested, but having the ability to fix up a house? Not sure if that would be a good idea. Anyways, I thought they were also working on player made structures. Like forts or what not.

I was hoping this was about alt-tab, don't ask me why.. I'm sure that I'm not the only one that crashes every time I accidentally alt-tab

300 hours.. are you playing in the woods with your willy? I've seen my fair share. Just gotta respawn and move on.. to a different server for a while.. Have faith that they will eventually get banned, and think of them as a super hard asshole boss. Like others have said, you can't stay attached to your gear, and right now it shouldn't take too long to get the basic equipment you will need to enjoy some action. Learn the loot drops, farm a few minutes on some low pops, then jump back to the full servers for some player interaction. I found that the less time I spend farming, the more fun I have getting into fights and saving freshies, temporarily at least. Oh, and I'm on a break too.. I call it that, but i'm currently unemployed and cant afford some decent comcast >.< Damn free wifi has me tweekin for the real deal

It's not exactly better in HC. Anyways, they might see you, but they have to move to shoot you.

This looks GREAT! All the progress :) OMGGG A whole new team for animals and zombies... um, FUCKYEA!
-
Also, I feel that the whole "created by Dean Hall" thing is out of respect. I don't see anything strange about it
-
Come on, the dude created the game, but what the fuck does that even mean? One thing I know is they have a TEAM, and Dean isn't the only one making the decisions. Hell, he has a hard enough time playing the actual game. First we still have the guy for 10 more months.. As long as this is "his" game, he won't let it get totally fucked, or no one would be willing to play his future work. I figure the 10 month mark is a BETA release estimate. Just about all the work SHOULD be done, so I'm not worried.
-
Man, that ArmA3 beta footage is hot! Sign me up... Anyways, I'm not so worried about FPS loss with all the optimization to be done.. I also plan on having a much more powerful PC near the Beta stage :)
-
It should matter less once more weapons and ammo types are put into the game. They already say guns will be much rarer and melee, thrown, and stringed based weapons will become more prevalent. I refuse to vote, I feel the Devs have a path anyways
-
First off, we do need the multi-function stance change key. Press (key) crouch, Hold (key) go prone or prone I also do like the idea of more stances. I'm not sure how they implemented it in ArmA3, but It seems pretty legit

Does anything spawn in the really tall apartment buildings?
Chawktah replied to thequantum's topic in New Player Discussion
Skip them, stick to smaller buildings. Only really worth it when PVPing on a high population -
Come on dude, never trust a clowny freak... Not to mention you running solo while they have what, 4 in their group.. It's not like they need help, lol. Should have followed them at a distance and taken your time until they murdered some innocent, then taken them out one by one.

oh, for the sake of people who lag alot, the map should be divided
Chawktah replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
Get a part time job and build a PC for yourself. Might take you a month of work, then a day or two to build.. Would guesstimate 600 on a lower end and 1000 for something much more fitting -

So, bought PC, downloaded steam, bought Dayz, uploading now.......
Chawktah replied to 7omm's topic in New Player Discussion
Welcome... By now i'm sure you've been playing and getting used to the controls and environment. Read up on the Dayz SA items and become familiar with the current map. Normal servers can be great fun, but don't forget about the more intense Hardcore servers. 3PersonPerspective can really feel cheap, and the playstyle is much more camper friendly. It's too easy to just sit behind a wall and wait for people to walk by. Maybe recruit some friends to join you or find some people in-game who you can befriend and steam-chat / teamspeak / ect with.. You just have to be open to betrayal, but once you can find someone to trust completely, you're golden.
