The Ultimate Dayz Sa Quicktips Guide (Video)

To be honest with you I don't notice much difference with the view distance as I can still spot and snipe someone from one end of a city to the other. My compelling reason is that the Arma 2 engine (the engine DayZ uses) is renowned for having massive frame drops in the cities - which is where you will most likely run into encounters with other players. Personally I find that this view distance meets the happy medium of having awesome frames and is enough to be able to see everything you will need to. I rely on being able to twitch fire and being able to smoothly track a player if i'm shooting at him, which I feel you need to have 60+ FPS to be able to do proficiently. I understand that it's all just personal preference, but I can guarantee that if we were both in the city, me with my 70 fps and 1000 view distance will be far more accurate at hitting a moving target than you with your 45 fps and maxed out view distance. I obviously don't know how good your system is, but this is just an example of the improvement of frames I find this gives me. It might be ok for lag spikes or frame drops to get you killed once or twice in Battlefield or whatever, but in DayZ it means starting all over again. Screw that.
