Suggestion: Respawn on tent
officervyktar@gmail.com replied to integ3r's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
IN THEORY, this idea is brilliant. But you shouldn't respawn at your tent, there should be another item, or some other step required for you to complete in order to respawn there. say maybe a bigger structure that requires at least more then one person to construct, that way, if everyone dies in your squad or group, or the building/construct is destoryed, everyone loses. Plus it means that you cant have that one guy respawning out on his own in the wilderness. -
Infected can 'smell' low humanity...
officervyktar@gmail.com replied to strange99's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
That's actually kind of a interesting idea. Its would give an actual consequence to killing others, and promote team play more. -
Here's a situation we've probably all been in once before. You've just entered a server and its nighttime, so you pull out your flashlight, or weapon with a flashlight attached, and you start your slow trek forward. Suddenly, you see a zombie running full sanic at you, leaving you with no other choice then to RUN. Sadly this now means you have NO FUCKING CLUE where your going, because your light source is being swung around like a two foot long rubber horse cock. Basically, you've been rendered blind, You can't see in front of you, or the zombie that's chasing you. This scenario, along with many others, makes flashlight is pretty much pointless equipment. It's better to just turn your brightness settings up, or just use flares and chemlights. Now, Maybe your thinking, "You shouldn't have startled that zombie in the place L2P Nooblord!!1!" Well that's you're opinion, but I think this is a problem, and I'm hoping at least a few of you reading this do too. The way i would like to fix it is (in theory) simple. I propose creating a new/unique animation when you have a flashlight equipped, to allow you to use it effectively while both walking and running. Something similar to say this; I'm not saying that you should be able to duel wield, just Alan's general stance is what I'm trying to get at. You'd hold the flashlight to your side whist walking and standing still, and when you start running, I'd get a little shaky but you could still see whats in front of you, this would also obscure your view less then underslug flashlights on most weapons. This would allow to not only make the flashlight usable in the situation mentioned earlier for both escape and running, But it would also help newer players as well. Why? Currently, the way you hold a flashlight when your running/walking is the same one for when you are using a sidearm. New players could easily mistake this for the same stance as holding a sidearm, even though there's no way the play is hostile. This would in turn prevent accidental killings. Thought that doesn't in any way prevent a Bandit from killing you, because they do as they please, killing bitches, eating beans all day, EVERY DAY. But hey, if you guys don't like that idea, then maybe it would good a good idea to add an item that allows you to wear a flashlight on the side of you're shoulder like this guy. http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg353/scaled.php?server=353&filename=dsc0291gz4.jpg&res=landing Maybe you could stick it too the survivors chest as an equip able item. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-igrhn1wzwAM/TvJv0UR9KiI/AAAAAAAAAkg/20sKY-sPmHw/s1600/Picture%252520276_0057.jpg Hell you could even stick it on the top of your head, that way where ever you look, you can see. http://www.magiclight.co.za/MJ808Camelbakstrap.JPG But these, just like my more detailed approach to it above, are all just possibilities and suggestions. So in summary, I think it would not only be a good idea, but a great addition in terms of gameplay, If the flashlight were to use a separate and unique animation from the sidearm animation. It may be ALOT more work then I'm thinking it is, heck, I don't even know if its possible because of an engine limitation. But if anything, I'd really like people to take it into consideration, (even you rocket) and conclude if this is something truly worth adding to the game.

Will upgrading my hardware even fix FPS Lag?
officervyktar@gmail.com posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
So right now i'm considering upgrade my PC, in hopes that i'll be able to run DayZ better. What i'm afraid of is if upgrading will even fix my FPS at all while playing, because DayZ and ARMA2 in general seems to be more of software problem than a hardware problem in general, as i see SOOO many people complaining about FPS problems and they have computers that are ten times better then time. here are my specs; OS- MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1 CPU- Intel Core i5 750 @ 2.67GHz Lynnfield 45nm Technology RAM- 8.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24) MOTHERBOARD- Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. H55M-USB3 (Socket 1156) GFX- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 DISPLAY- iH282 (1920x1200@59Hz) HDD- 977GB Western Digital WDC WD1002FAEX-00Y9A0 ATA Device (SATA) [i have 3 other drives for data, but i store games on this 1 terabyte] POWER- Corsair Professional HX850W 850W ATX 12V 70A 24PIN ATX Modular Power Supply Active PFC 140MM Fan AUDIO- Corsair Vengeance 1500 I plan of upgrading my processor to an i5 2500k @ 3.4ghz, but ill also have to upgrade my motherboard to adjust to the 1155 socket, so it would be around 400 dollars. -

20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon
officervyktar@gmail.com replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I know I already posted but Rocket, I'm hoping you read this even though its beyond 20 words; Do not, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, give in to whiny bitches on these forums, or any others, about how/when they died by Bandits or not. They need to deal with the consequences of there actions AND those of others. DayZ is only Alpha, you can make changes, but I beg you to NEVER make this mod EASIER to play. I have full faith that you as a developer can and WILL make the right decisions. -
20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon
officervyktar@gmail.com replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
YES, Less hostile players is a GREAT THING. Please implement this in the next patch. TL;DR version VVVVVVVVVV Half of the reason people are Bandits is because there afraid of new and inexperienced players making bad decisions and killing them right off the bat; just under the assumption they think that's all a bandit wants to do, steal there gear and run off. I'm a bandit, mostly because i wanted the camo before they added the Ghillie was added, but I don't senselessly kill every player I see. When I see a player, I'll talk to them and if they don't respond, I'll shoot them. If they do, I'll even try and work something out so that neither of us can end up unscathed. I've never been to the coast just to kill noobs, If fact I've never been to Cherno. I honestly wish i could be rid of my bandit skin. If you make newly spawned players spawn without a weapon, they have no way to fight back, but that also means that bandits have no reason to shoot them since there no threat. That the only reason I kill players at the coast, because they will always try to shoot me first.
