I was on the top floor of the building that is not like an aircraft control tower, maybe a prison on the bottom floor? (There is a room with bars) I started to get some FPS drop, I wondered WTF is going on but kept on playing. I went down stairs, and as I went down the stairs, the fps continued to have spikes of dropping (if that makes sense!). This continues with spikes of FPS drop down to maybe 4-5 FPS, and then it would recover again, the whole time I was seeing everyone else disconnect from the server as this was happening. I was kind of next to the stairs at this point, on the ground floor (imagine coming into the building, and doing a right but not going up the stairs, i was in this bit) It seems suspcious to me that a lot of people disconnected from the server at the same time it seemed. It did not see myself visibly fall through the floor. I had reduce FPS for a total of maybe 1 minute, then the game froze completely and crashed. I was just sitting on the floor not moving for a good 30 seconds, just looking around...waiting for the FPS to recover. Then it just stopped; and now i seem to have died

So I just found it seems you can only carry one "big" gun, so I swapped my pristine Mosin with a badly damaged sight and a damaged bipod for a prstine M4 with damaged stock and prstine everything else. Good trade? Who knows. I figured I'm only going to use it for defense, and in that case rapid fire spray and pray is probably more effective than a 1 shot type deal :P

Hey guys, Ive found myself a moisin and I have a couple of questions. First is the scope - how do I use it? its attached, but I dont know how to look through it? Its the Pu scope. Secondly I cant load it with ammo? I have 7.62 rounds, I drag them over the gun and an option comes up for "chamber rounds" I click that, then i get a message saying "that doesnt fit in there" Any ideas chaps? Is there more than one type of 7.62 ammo?
-
I dont understand what your trying to say here? You do know that you cant load 7.62 ammo into a gun that takes 7.62 ammo dont you? You have to right click it, and empty it out first before itll let you load it. The only thing that changes between it being boxed and not boxed is in one its a picture of a box with the number 20 next to it, and once you unbox it its a picture of a bullet with 20 written next to it. I dont think theres anything dumb about thinking that to load 7.62 ammo into a 7.62 gun, you drag the 7.62 ammo over the 7.62 gun and click "Chamber rounds" and then being a bit confused when it doesnt work.
-
sorted it, even though optics was assigned to mouse button 2, it wasnt taking effect, it was just doing the normal zooming effect you get even when your unarmed. I reassigned optics to a different key and can now look down the site. Its very cracked etc, but i should be able to spot a zombies head in it ;)
-
yeah the guns pristine im just being an idiot. Right click in first person just zooms in like normal. The glass of the scope looks cracked too...guess its no good. It says its badly damaged... Weapon cleaning kit doesnt seem to be useable on it either :(
-
Ahah! I've worked it out. You have to right click the 7.62 ammo and then click "empty" to unbox it. Then drag it over the gun and it loads. Does the scope work? is there any way to know how much ammo i have in my gun?

Hunger, Thirst, Regenerating Blood And Health Video
Delarado replied to Bounty Hunter's topic in New Player Discussion
dont do any trick for blurry ness. eat and drink everything until you have the healthy status. if you dont have this, you are somewhere between dead and 99% health. Thats what the blur is telling you. -
different things work for different people I Guess. Im at the balota airfield at the moment, I'm sure im going to die! :) But itll be afun death!
-
eat everything you possibly can until your status shows as "stuffed" "healing" or "healthy" If your status is not healing or healthy, then your character is closer to death than is normal and will stay that way unitl you eat / drink properly. It takes time for your stomach to convert food/drink from your stomach to your water/energy stores. Once your water/energy stores reach an appropriate level, your blood will start to regenerate. Once your blood is full, your health will start to regenerate. Once both blood and health are full, you achieve the "healing" status. There are videos on all of this that explain it all on youtube (And also at the top of this forum) but they are probably over an hour all of them. the TL:DR of it all is you should eat everything you find (Except rotten fruit) and drink until stuffed every time you see a well (unless your in the middle of cherno or something, in which case I tend not to bother in case I get KOS drinking) With enough time being stuffed your character will return to healthy and this actually helps you take more bullets / punches / axes to the head. if your status is not "Healthy" Then you WILL die quicker in a fight than you would of if you would have just eaten a bit more food.

I agree with this guys interpretation. To me I'd be thinking "Stop moving does not include going prone and taking aim"

Hey guys, Just picked up Dayz SA a few days ago and really enjoying it, but I have a few questions that I cannot seem to find any answers to...Ive tried searching and found some almost related information, but havent seen anything just yet that specifically answers my questions. 1. Does power running (Double tap W) Make you more tired? use energy? make you need to eat more? Ive been unable to see any difference, but I'm sure it must do? 2. Loot. I have seen there is much "discussion" on this subject :) How do I know when a server has restarted? Yesterday I spawned just outside solnichy, and every door was shut, I assumed the server had just restarted. I checked 3 houses and there was absoloutely nothing there, Then I got noticed by a Zed. He chased me for a while and I picked up 5 more (Yes, 5 more) chasing me through Solnichy. More Zed's than I've ever seen in this game. I ran north to the industrial area, I'm not sure if the others followed me or I was just unlucky, but I was being followed there too. I decided to take my chances and just try and run round the place checking for weapons and packs etc with my tails. By the end of it, I'd left the factory having found a crowbar and a piece of rope (whats this for?) and thats it! And I had seven zombies chasing me. Is this a normal level of loot spawn? Is this a normal level of Zed spawn on server restart? Just so I know what to expect. Im using the map, but I'm not sure what the definition of a low, medium and high swawn is (Is it the amount of loot, or the likelyhood of loot spawning?) 3. Canned beans. Three times now I've died of starvation with beans in my inventory, and nothing to open them with. I've seen people are discussing this, but I thought I'd get my two cents in. If I was starving to death, I Would throw a tin of beans on the floor and stamp on it / Hit it with a rock / hit it with a spanner / hit it with my head to get it open. I' m all up for realism but sprinting around looking for something sharp while you have a can of food in your hands that the game won't let you open seems a bit silly. How about a "Throw on the ground" option, that creates a "spilled beans" item in the vicinity that you can then pick up for 25% food? 4. I was playing last night and had a good game going. I had lots of food, a cool clown mask, a knife, and a blood bag + a backpack. I got disconnected from the server, and logged back in to what I assumed was the same server, but somehow ended up on a totally different character (not fresh spawn) I assume I was playing on a different Hive. How many hives are there? Is there any way to find this guy again? 5. Killing Zeds - So far I've avoided them like the plague unless Im a fresh spawn who finds an early weapon. So far I've found two guns and no ammunition and I've been playing for maybe 14 hours solid. I got close to the army base once, but got KOS by some douchebag. First lesson learnt - don't stop in the open on a road 1km outside a military base! Is it safe to melee them? I mean, if they hit you it just seems to make you bleed. As long as you have bandages this is ok right? Is there any other impact? Do you need to eat more to regain the blood that you lost? 6.Rotten fruit. I've eaten it a couple of times. It seems to bring you back from the brink of starvation for about 3 minutes and that's it. Is it even worth picking up? What's the implications of eating it? I'm sure I'll have lots more questions, I'm enjoying the game. FInding it frustrating and engrossing at the moment; IT really does feel very apocalyptic. The lack of food and loot is annoying me, but I'm sure that will get better as I learn what to look for. Not being able to run up hills is also very annoying, and getting stuck in doorways and at the bottom of stairs is also annoying. Should I be reporting this stuff? (E.g yesterday I couldn't get into a castle on account of a single step at its doorway. I had to "Step over" to get in. It worked, but I should have just been able to walk up it.

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
Delarado replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
Im a new player and I've been KOS'd 5 times in three days now, and died twice of my own accord. I've lost probably 8 hours of my 12 or so hours of play time to being KOS'd while at a water well or something I wanted to give my opinion into this pot, I'm only going to post once though, as to not go against Mdogg2005's suggestion. Yes, KOS is damn annoying. Yes, KOS makes the game less fun for the person getting shot Yes, KOS makes the game very brutal sometimes, and makes you want to rage. Maybe, it needs to somehow be discouraged, but ONLY to make the game slightly more fun for newbies (Although I dont think KOS will be such a problem once everyone stops spawning on the coast in the same 3 places right next to each other) However, if they are going for realism in this game... No, A bandit wouldnt wear anything to identify himself No, A hero wouldnt wear some shining light costume No, you wouldnt have visual cues to identify who was friendly and who was not. Youd have a person. He is going to kill you, or hes not. Its up to you to figure that out. If it were a real zombie apocalypse (and i know its not) then it would be every man for himself. I've no doubt that there would be a lot of KOS type behaviour going on. The only possible solution I could see to discourage KOS (There is nothing wrong with the playstyle, but it makes the victims life less fun and so may hurt the uptake of the game) is that the KOS's players respawn timer increases by 30 minutes every kill they make. Every 24 hours, that respawn timer is reduced by 30 minutes. This gives bandits 1 kill a day, which would slow down the KOS, but not eliminate it, or ruin any of the realism aspects of KOS style play. You CANNOT have ANY way of knowing or being warned if someone is going to KOS You. However, KOS is more attractive in a game than it is in real life, because if you get killed as a consequence of killing, you just come straight back to life. The only way to reduce the frequency of KOS is to slightly, and completely invisibly penalise the KOS'er for it. If you cant handle KOS go play call of duty. From what I've learnt so far about this game, if I get KOS its my fault. I was somewhere I shouldn't of been, I wasn't careful enough. Don't go the places that are camped unless you have proper recon, cover of darkness or both. If you get shot in the face, its probably your own fault...Your in a war zone people! -
Ive been making it work so far by just doing exactly what everyone says not to and heading for elektro. If the doors are shut ,great, if not - come back later. Choose a low pop server, search only the high loot places, never stop moving, grab what you can and run away. Priority is a fire axe it makes zombies not a problem at all, 1 hit kill. Eat and drink everything you can find, and people will probably hate me for this, but when your starting out - if everythings been looted out, just switch servers. It seems you spawn almost dead to be honest, you really need to eat and drink a lot to get your strength up. If theres no loot for 20 clicks, it just means you might waste 20 clicks of running just to get to somewhere where there is nothing! Might not be the purest way to do it, but thats the way im having hte most success at the moment, it actually gives me a chance to play the game rather than starving to death, or spending ages going really far inland for loot and just getting shot by someone.
-
Ok so now I have a fire axe and plenty of food. I watched the video on the way food etc works. Im struggling to understand though, is it worth eating past the healthy status? It seems I can fill my energy reserves more than I can my hydration reserves, and energy does not need to be full in order to be healthy, but once I am healthy, am I not better off not eating until I take more damage and don't go back to the healing status? I cant see the point of eating / drinking EVERYTHING I find when my stomach is almost stuffed all the time and I am healthy? How can I tell when my energy is full, is that possible?
-
rage. Just logged into a server with a 0 player count. Stood there trying to fill my canteen from a well, it would not fill. The only option was to drink water. Within 30 seconds 3 guys came running around the corner and shot me dead. WTF.
-
I'm going to answer my own questions for the benefit of anyone else reading this thread. 1. At the moment, sprinting uses the same energy as running. 2. Concentrate on the larger loot spawns, there is a lot more useful stuff there. Stay moving, and if you spot another player, either sprint straight for some trees, or pop around a corner if he has not seen you. You can see if he has a gun, which helps make your decision for you. 3. Screwdrivers/knives etc are pretty common. I did a loot run through half of elektro and found about 6 or 7 things to open beans with. 4. Not sure on this one, bug I guess 5. You can kill zeds with crowbar etc, but you more than likely will end up bleeding etc. Safest bet is to ignore them until you find a fire axe. After this, they are quite easy to sneak up behind and pop in the back of the head. 6. Dont eat rotten fruit, ever. There IS plenty of food if you know where to look.

I just watched this video and all of his others, thats the most useful thing I've seen so far to date for this game, top marks and thanks very much for recommending!

So I can just keep eating as much as I want? Until my stomach is full? is there any way to see energy levels? How much does food refill? (Will i be eating three cans of beans to fill myself or just one?) Ive just been raiding Elektro, that was fun. I think the server was close to restart as most of the doors were closed. The place was crawling with other players and it got looted out fast. We stayed out of each others way though (I dont think they even saw me to be honest) and now I'm in the outskirts of elektro with a canteen, two cans of beans, a can of tuna, a transmitter (not sure what its for) a knife, a screwdriver, a crowbar (havent found an axe) and a few other misc items (Including the fabled can opener!!!) Im thinking eat my food till im full, fill up my canteen, go raiding some more to stock up on food and then head inland.... Wish me luck people!

Thanks guys. Whats this "You have my beans" all about?

Have been to zelenogorsk, novy, stary, and dolina. I was on my way from Novy / Stary to the military base to the east with lots of stoage, food, saline IV, blood bag, motorcycle helmet etc (most loot ive ever had) when I stopped to answer a skype call standing in the middle of a road. When I alt tabbed back into game, there was a guy in front of me. I said "Woah hi I didnt see you there" On voice, then he pulled his gun and shot me in the face... Thanks for the tips though!

Wow! Thanks for all the responses guys. Ive yet to find a fire axe yet. All Ive found is copious amounts of crow bars and shovels, a couple of baseball bats, the odd pipe wrench and a couple of smaller wrenches. IS tehre a particular place that fire axes spawn? It'd be really handy to be able to kill zeds easily! I don't know what happened with my last game then. I wasted two hours on it. I was playing with one guy who was very hungry when I quit the game (With a can of beans in hand of course) I logged back in and got fresh spawn so I presume he had died of starvation. I played for a few hours, collected stuff, then when I logged back in again I was back on the guy who was starving again. I wasnt on a hardcore server as i play pretty exclusively third person! So basically the consensus for now seems to be ignore houses and go straight for the big areas but be careful and don't stick around? So far I've been going to the smaller settlements in land and checking every house...and not finding much! As I say, I've never had a fire axe. I generally carry crowbars, as they are all I Can find. I think I might try finding a night server and going into cherno or something, just so I can get the hang of searching for loot without everyone trying to kill me... (Flame suit on!) Thanks very much for the extensive and very fast replies guys! Anyone here UK Based and wants a buddy thats not going to try and kill them? :)

Also, shoes. I Find nothing but shoes everywhere I go. Whats the difference? Pristine, worn, tennis shoes, hiking boots, working boots, whats the differences between them?
