  1. Some people hate the me[n] that earn...respect
  2. yea, they are called forum moderators, respect!
  3. comparing nether to dayz is a crime in my book! Nether dev's clearly never listened to the community while Dean listened to his community and was closely linked to it. Also, the mods here are 1000x better than the mods on nether who went on vacation for a month and "nether" came back
  4. I wonder how many moderators are sifting through the 500 'Papers' that the forum posters have left.
  5. People have different ways of interpreting a simple message, leading to speculation that Dayz will be abandoned just like Warz. People need to take a second and step into Dean's shoes.
  6. Congratulations!, you have found the secret comment! Don't tell the trolls where it is! They will murder me!
  7. I also did various other things besides what I stated.
  8. adding to this, my friend and I both agree doors need to make a noise when they open. It would also be funny to slam a door open and yell, "SURPRISE MOTHAFUCKA" to whoever is inside B)
  9. I also do this! I still have yet to give a bambi a ruined gun and ammo to see if he tries to shoot me. I REALLY want to try this!

    How do I see a player's name?

But killing the person who killed you before would be metagaming, I'm sure. I would propose that this not be implemented. I feel that they should take out player names in text chat entirely to keep all players anonymous. There should be an option [just like in HL2 RP on Gmod] in which players can press a key bind that reveals their name in ingame voice and text chat to people within whispering distance. Note: this would not be a name tag, just an indication of who is talking.

    How do I see a player's name?

please tell me you reported that server.
  15. NOTE: I am starting this topic for the sole purpose of investigating the morals of Dayz and how those morals are transferred over to reality. I remember seeing Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator"(1940) and I will post the first, and last, time that he spoke on film. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAjyJDBDaFM&feature=share&list=LLSVcMcLbaPitpUU2410YyqQ I am curious as what he says that does/does not apply to the Dayz universe. It interest me because in usual disaster situations (hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, etc) people become more human and put away their conflicts and differences to try to fix what has been broken [side note: this is also seen in the book 'World War Z', Even if you hate books, this book is definitely worth a read!] But would a survival situation that occurred in an isolated location like Chenarus lead to the chaos and situations that we love and play for while in Dayz? I personally feel that the part about greed does occur sometimes in Dayz as people go around taking someone else's life, "because there is nothing more valuable than life". I have played as a bandit before and I have stolen a bambi's only source of food because I wanted to be healthy. I wonder if it is because greed got the best of me, or if something else sociologically or psychologically enticed me to do it? It is an interesting thing to bring up and I am curious to know how you guys/gals thought, questions, & comments about Dayz in relation to this video. Also, respond in an ethical manner please, respect other's thoughts/opinions, that is all I ask.
  16. @Duenan the majority of players on Dayz have morality, everyone has there own definition of what is or is not moral. Note how none of us used "kos" in any of our post because that is a "micro" level perspective and it neglects the big picture, the "macro" level perspective. Morals will be an ever present part of society because it is human to have morals. (I'm pretty sure some other animals are also intelligent enough to understand morals too)
  17. Personally, I can speak about religion and my belief freely because I can do so in a respectful manner and I am able to set our differences aside and listen to what this man/woman has to say. Please lead by example and do not make this thread end because of our differences. As said earlier, we are more similar than we are different. Let us speak about religion and beliefs ethically and be understanding of others beliefs. If that cannot be done, then I'm afraid for what this thread will ultimately become...another tombstone in the graveyard! Back to the subject, I would like to add that many cruel things that humans do to one another could be linked to social psychology. The Milgram experiment is an example of even the kindest of individuals giving in to authority. I'm curious if there were times in which social psychology affected people's behavior in Dayz. There was one times in which I saw my friend kill someone we were trying to save, we were like "WHY!" and he said "Why not?". But really, what other situations like this affect humanity and/or the players of Dayz?
  18. Debating about belief is pointless, what I like to converse over is the morals and what would happen to people put in a tough spot.
  19. Man this conversation has become something so much bigger than I anticipated, it is a conversation filled with respect, admiration, and understanding. We are speaking to each other from various places around the world and are able to relate in ways we could not to the person sitting next to us. This conversation is .. surprisingly... Human
  20. moral: The only people who change/learn are those who choose to change/learn. You cannot force someone to change unless they choose to (again 1984). [edit] also, I get the same thing from people too, you are not alone Rudette.
  21. Also, the book '1984' does an amazing job at showing a society controlled by uniformity. Definitely worth a read.
  22. These are the post we need to see on the forums more often, They are well thought out, give valuable insight into the discussion at hand. I think this is pure knowledge into a situation that goes into detail and acknowledges the bias that is ever present. Well done!
  23. rudette and damnyourdeadman, I feel both of you are right in your own respects due to the fact that some people thrive off of hate others thrive off of love. No matter, I love having the choice to choose either love, hate, or somewhere in between on any of my lives in Dayz.
  24. My god, this thread so far has had insightful comments that have given me a new perspective on what people would do in a time of crisis. Lets keep up the good posting.
  25. @Nicko2580, Interesting counterargument, I will agree that they're many different reactions from the community in different disasters/survival situations. I wonder what happened in the back story of Dayz that led to its current state?
