<------ Dragunov SVD, my favourite sniper-rifle. It'd definitely get my vote, even if it is a little over-powered. :) But yeah, making sniper-rifles too widely available would not be good for the game.

Dude... Funniest Standalone video I've seen yet! ^_^ I was going to play a nice, but now I'm not so sure... You got my vote, more hostage situation items/interactions please! The funnier the better, lets not go down the dark road. >< "I won't forget you Robert!... Wait... Does he have any gear? Give me your hoodie." For shame, for shame... *shakes head* ^_^
-
It was all worth it! I learned a new word. :) Caveats... I like it. Now I just have to find a way to slip it into a conversation. ^_^

Was just interested in what the answers would be, tried to make it funny for your enjoyment. It'd be good if we could get as many people to answer this one as possible; you never know, could be helpful to the developers. Keep in mind, much of the game-mechanics will change as the game undergoes further development, try and answer for what you think it will be like upon completion. Thanks for taking part. :)

Me too. ^^ Except the first question, but I'm not sure I like the last option all that much; was meant to be preferred play-style, not fixed in stone. >< Too late now though. :S -
Health and blood are two different things. And one punch to the head can in theory kill you, people come up on manslaughter charges like this all the time. :( Check this video and the follow up out for good explanation.

I'm sure it is something that will be implemented at some point, a greater difference between the types of servers that is.

Australia would undoubtedly ban, they do not like kiddy violence at all. Also, I can't remember who exactly said it, or where on the forum it was, but the general gist was that they had no problem pushing boundaries as long as it was for a purpose. A fair stance to take. Kids in DayZ is a little unnecessary, no matter how much many think it would add too immersion. EDIT: Found the quote: orlok, DayZ Forum Team; on the subject of cannibalism and other things brought up in http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/168722-we-need-cannibalism/ If these "ideas", no matter how distasteful, could add something to the game or peoples perceptions of the realities of such actions the Id be all for them being in games. I'm all for pushing boundaries but only for a very good reason, never "just fer teh lulz"

Whoa!... Brutal. ^^ I like this one I found a while ago... :) I guess in these examples they are tolerable because the point is you are trying to avoid them?

Personally I advocate freedom of expression within the arts; and what art is higher or more all-encompassing than that of video-games? That said, it would be a lawsuit or banning debacle waiting to happen. Players might be ready for this sort of thing, but society isn't. :( I remember the massive outrage at the airport level in Call of Duty, didn't really see what all the fuss was about myself. At the end of the day all it is is pixels on the screen, people just have to blame something for horrendous occurrences which are probably caused by the intolerance's they can't admit too. I feel no more disgusted by anything I've seen in a video-game than certain paintings by Francis Bacon, and far less than pictures made by good war photographers. Yet those same people that would cry out against a violent video game would probably support another Vietnam war. Hypocrisy 1 - Sense 0. EDIT: Oh yeah, and big up for whoever made the Killable Children mod for Skyrim, why shouldn't I if I want to? I never have, but the freedom to should be there... I like your idea about family role-play. "Yes honey, I agree he is a little young; but what happens if we both get eaten? He needs to be able to swing that axe correctly..." ^^

Cheeky! At least his posts have purpose, even if there are a lot of them. ^^ But a smile and purpose are two things which I find hard to find on forums sometimes. And KoS, I imagine the weather, or rather lack there of, is to keep the game simpler for now. I'm not an expert but I imagine it's something they want to add closer to optimisation time.
-
I hope you guys aren't complaining? :P I rather like the way KoS talks, never fails to bring a smile to my face. See... --> :D
-
You have my beans sir! Both, for wonderful suggestions, and also great presentation thereof. :)
-
More weapons will be added in time, it seems to me such a lovely piece is a likely contender. Regardless, thanks for another thread cluttering up the already over-loaded 'Suggestions' section... :P
-
I wish this thread would go extinct... ^^ Everything that needed saying has been said; probably 10 times over already. :P Are people even reading the posts from the beginning? Not trying to be rude or anything; it's just that every time I log on I have like 3-6 notifications from this thread, all for things I've already read before...
-
This has already been brought up before... Many, many times. Neither side is going to win this argument; and regardless, this is something that would have to be looked at much later in the development stage to see how it would affect the in-game economy (if you can call it that) and people's play-style. I wouldn't say I'm against the idea, but neither am I for it. Also, if they added NPCs to the game then I would want them to be intelligent ones and not static ones, something that would be incredibly difficult to implement and would change the game a lot from what I think it is meant to be, a raw player-driven survival game.
-
^ What they said, but with better grammar than the first. ;) ^ You, sir, have watched far too many movies / read too many comics. :P How exactly does kill on sight ruin immersion? You think in a real-life zombie infested post-apocalyptic wasteland people would be merciful? I'm not trying to be rude, but please give your reasoning. 1. Please - please - please... No. 2. My opinion on this, though many loath the idea, is no at least for now. Perhaps closer to completion the developers can play around with ideas concerning trade-camps, but for now there are too many variables in the air as is. 3. NPCs are just too stupid, this would not in anyway be a drawback. Anyway, trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic wasteland who exactly has time to go be a bounty-hunter? And who exactly is paying the bounty anyway? That would kill immersion. -.-

No double-tap needed surely? Gestures should toggle on, and then off when you perform another action (other than movement) which would interrupt it. I'm certain it's something they are working on, it's just that the animations are a little more complex. Though I don't pretend to be an expert on such things. Either way, you have my beans. :)
-
True. I would suggest a chosen few/volunteers from the community, but then they wouldn't be on the inside circle; which would be of great benefit for those who make the selection. Also, community volunteers might be biased (that's not to say the team isn't biased, but at least they are officially biased and subject to scrutiny and repercussions from the rest of the team). ^^ Perhaps the two sections would have to be created separately to the existing section, then the transition can be done over time. Then again, that's getting a little ridiculous in how many extra sections are needed and it might take so long it wouldn't be worth it. >< Not to mention some people might not understand the system fully and it could cause further complications, especially since no-one reads the pinned threads. :( It's a pickle, that's for sure, but I'm sure if the powers that be feel something really needs doing about it they will come up with something. :) EDIT: Also, I think one of the problems is that a lot of the threads in the 'Suggestions' section should really be in the 'General Discussion' section, though I guess that's just a matter of opinion and semantics. EDIT 2: Also, if a team of volunteers where working on this they would either have to be in constant communication with each-other, or work on it at different times. Otherwise they would run the risk of messing with each-others work. I imagine the development team / forum administrators (might be the same thing I don't know) are constantly communicating anyway.

Sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it... Not sure if it's from fear or excitement. ^^ Finally a game with more than a modicum of challenge; nice and refreshing after some of the kid-friendly non-innovative crap we've seen in recent years. Thanks. :) -

96... C'mon... C'mon! :D Perhaps some people are just skittish Sanguine88? ^^ -
I've been wondering for a while now why there wasn't more structure to the 'suggestions' section of the forum, especially since I think this is probably the most important section and probably the section to which most of the new-comers are drawn. Had an idea, don't know if it's good or not, nor do I know how easy it would be to implement; this is the first forum I've been more than minimally active on. But as they say; nothing ventured, nothing gained. Two separate 'suggestions' sections. - One where anybody can create a thread. - One which only administrators can add threads too or move threads into; but in those threads anybody can voice opinions. I realise this would be rather an infringement on the communities freedom as many might feel slighted or like their opinion is not as valuable to the developers as they do now. Though personally I wouldn't mind, it is all in a good cause after all. Then again, I have been called a bit of a fascist on occasion. ^^ And fascists love to use the 'good cause' excuse. I would say it could be done democratically by a system of voting threads into the more exclusive forum section, but I think we all agree that would be terribly inefficient. Furthermore, I cannot even begin to speculate how it would be implemented or indeed what the vote thresholds would be. >< EDIT: I am definitely grammar fascist, though I'm never sure if I use my semi-colons right. ^^ Only started the edit to correct a misplaced coma.
