Bump. Good thread uncontaminated by useless ideas. :)
-
Yeah, this is pretty grim. I mean, I'd like too shoot someone in the leg so I can stop them running away so I can rob them (only if they deserve it of course ^^), but I would then bandage them up and let them go on their way a few pounds lighter. But those few pounds lighter would be the lovely stuff in their pack, not their various body parts. Erm... lol. Hang on, let him just count the various bleached skeletons around his room... this may take a while. ^^

Agreed, IV on self should be possible. I don't think this would stop many (if any at all) from playing socially. Realistically, those that would only talk too people they meet in order to get healed up would leave whoever did so quickly after anyway.

People's Misconceptions About Their Characters... (And Books)
Survivor_Sabre replied to Syphax4Ever's topic in Suggestions
The book idea has been mentioned already with regards too other things, I'm not sure if it has with weapons in mind though. I had a similar idea with vehicle maintenance, and I'm sure others have as-well. Good idea regardless, though the benefit would have too be minimal, otherwise I don't think it would be very fair. Also, maybe the more you perform a certain action the better you get at it? I'm sure after you'd performed an IV twenty times you'd be able to find a vein quickly and correctly (although probably still not as well as a trained medical professional) and not end up leaving your patient bleeding like a repeatedly stuck pig. ^^ This would also encourage specialisation within groups. -
If they did this then they would have too make it harder too access the inside layers for your items. For example, having to take off your top layer coat (if it doesn't have a zip/buttons/opening) before you can get at the goodies you're keeping in your hoodie. This would put more emphasis on arranging how you store your stuff, something I have found a little lacking.

This feature MUST come out along side vehicles
Survivor_Sabre replied to Slyguy65's topic in Suggestions
Hehe, that's exactly what I thought of as well. ^^ I want to be able too justify adding this feature to the game with regards too dragging players, but I just can't. The only way I can think too would be as a means of forcing someone to tell you where their stash is, which is pretty circumstantial at best, and also nothing that can't be solved by having the ability too melee bash with a weapon which staggers a player and does a minor amount of damage. -
I thought I was pessimistic, and why do people always insist on using the word "mainstream" as if it immediately connotes negativity? You can hate mainstream pop, you can hate mainstream literature, you can not hate mainstream. I'm not even sure you can hate ALL mainstream pop or ALL mainstream literature. Of course the game will eventually become mainstream once people realize how totally awesome it is. If you don't want to play a mainstream game go play Rapelay... Apart from anything else, your logic is horribly flawed; and I quote "a problem that gets worse and worse as the game becomes more mainstream". What you are saying there is that the majority of people are sadistic douche-bags who, as more and more of them start playing the game, will vastly overwhelm the small lovely peace-loving community that is playing now... I wouldn't even know where too begin in trying too correct that. If you haven't got anything constructive too add (and I know that because of this post I'm actually doing just that) then don't say anything, that goes for all you others who leave comments complaining about "yet another kill on sight thread" too. The title was pretty damn clear, I know the original poster should have checked for another thread concerning the same topic, but no one asked you too come and read it, all you end up doing is bumping the thread with meaningless and unhelpful comments. Rant/vent over, sorry all, reading these forums is time consuming enough as is without all the pointless stuff and it makes me so angry sometimes. Especially since this is the suggestions section and the developers will no doubt be reading through it and every second they spend doing so is a second we don't have the complete game.

Taking Cuffs And Burlap A Little Further...
Survivor_Sabre replied to Mr Jizz's topic in Suggestions
I would personally prefer it if this was fixed by the forced delayed log-out time which has been thrown about a bit, then if you have someone restrained and you see they are trying too log-out you can just put them down. Reason being, what if you get disconnected while restrained? Seems a bit unfair that you just lose everything even when whoever was robbing you was only going too take a few things or just trying too make sure you didn't kill them while their back was turned. Oh, and as for logging being salvation, I don't think we should ever consider logging as a salvation. If you get cuffed you should be forced too go along for the ride happy in the knowledge that one day you might be the one with the keys. -
You are of course completely entitled too your opinion, even though I disagree with you and think the shoot on sight players are a vital part of the survival aspect of the game and think it would be rather boring without the PvP even though I am not really a PvP player. Indeed, half the fun in this game for me is outsmarting those douche-bags who are trying too rob me. ^^ However, I would like too point out that, if we can agree that you as a more role-play player are more likely too have role-play friends, and you directed them away from the game; then that's 12 players who you and other more role-play players would have enjoyed meeting in the game who we now no longer can. Thanks... I guess. -.- And I think it is worth stating (for perhaps the billionth time) that the game is still an alpha, this means the current game-play in no way accurately reflects the final product and also that there is not much for players too aspire too or work towards; bored players = malicious players.

What if my character is a psychopath and the only time s/he has flash-backs of victims is in their wet dreams? >: D I'm sorry but no, I think in the Day Z world you do what you think you gotta' do too survive; a karma system would hinder that and make decision making far too difficult. Furthermore, people would then start demanding it then take into consideration things like robbing people and that would be an absolute nightmare too program. Also, why do people have such a problem with shoot on sight? To be honest, if I was trying too survive in a post-apocalypse world I don't think I would have much of a problem shooting people on sight if I thought they looked like a threat, and I'm not a psychopath (although if I where I would say that wouldn't I? ^^).

Needs work not removing, it is still an alpha. And yeah, try not to assume what people do and don't like...

If people want game modes then surely that will be up too the mod makers after the developers have finished their job.

SUGGESTION: Wearing the United Nations Beret puts you into PVE-Only mode
Survivor_Sabre replied to Charcoal's topic in Suggestions
No is my opinion, but I like the idea of having certain clothing signify you as friendly. I am certain once the game gets under way players will decide on such things for themselves. Bullet immunity though.... that sucks majorly. -
Oooh, how inhumane! A book mine. As if the mine wasn't already such a dastardly weapon. >=) Also, I mentioned this in another thread, before also seeing it having been thrown about in a few other ones, but how about skill books too teach car/helicopter/other vehicle maintenance and use so not all the survivors seem too be mechanical geniuses who are capable of using a helicopter from the get-go. Then those books would have great value too, and would be worth trading/stealing.
-
I was kind of hoping there would be helicopters, but now you mention it: it does sound rather unrealistic, and I think realism is crucial for this game. Perhaps if they added in some kind of learning system? You could find a book that teaches you helicopter maintenance. Or even one for engine maintenance, one for piloting it, etc. That way using a helicopter is something you really have to work towards. Also, you (and your group if you don't play lone wolf) can jealously guard your top secret books and others would try to steal them. :D To be honest I wouldn't know the first thing about putting a new engine in a car, I can change the tires, lights and wind-screen wipers and that's about it. >< So if a Zombie apocalypse happens tomorrow first thing I'm going to do is get my hands on a 'how to'. ^^ Oh yeah, and loving the ideas for vehicles, especially the Kayak. :D

Design: Gun Proliferation and Ammo Scarcity/Variety
Survivor_Sabre replied to TomJeff's topic in Suggestions
Yes too everything you said. :D -
Fully agree, containers should absolutely be accessible; was rather stumped when I got in game and found out they weren’t. I do think opening animations are a must for immersion, however. They don't have to be spectacular. Furthermore, all these ruined houses means those hinges would be getting rusty so noise is also important, this means you can tell, even if they are being stealthy and sneaking around the place, if someone is searching the room next too you.
-
How about allowing the community too send in stories and the like which might be featured in the game. I'm an aspiring writer and I would very much revel in the chance too have a short story published in the game. Also, the books which I have seen in game so far have been rather intense reads which I don't think the average player would have much interest in. I presume this is because there is no copyright on them, but still...

As someone who ALWAYS plays as a female character in every game that gives me the option (which has earnt me a lot of riducule over the years), the ability to grow a beard over time would be a definite insentive for me too play a male one for once. However, I think it would be even cooler if hair just grew the longer you stayed alive, so my female character could have long golden locks after a few days. :D And yes please too forcibly shaving other players. Call me sadistic, but I can think of nothing funnier than hand cuffing someone, robbing them and then shaving them aswell. Though, of course, I wouldn't do it to just anyone; just those that deserved it. ^^

non-night vision alternative (light up the town)
Survivor_Sabre replied to commanderbash's topic in Suggestions
How about flare-guns for a short term light over an area? Could also double as a weopon, or a signal of course.
