Chernarus Survivor Census - the CSC
Survivor_Sabre replied to Survivor_Sabre's topic in General Discussion
Thanks all who took part! 78 People, so far *crosses fingers*, really gives us a great idea of the distribution of play-styles. Was hoping it'd hit a nice round 100, but you should be content with what you get I guess. :D Bump! ^^ -
What do you guys think happened here?
Survivor_Sabre replied to Highlander007's topic in General Discussion
Frikkin' awesome sounding music. ^^ -
Don't know when I will be getting my new PC, haven't quite yet finalised the specifications yet. But I would love to help make some Youtube videos, sounds like a right laugh. Also, I'm currently writing and hoping to get published at some point in the future (though the day doesn't seem to get closer >< ), I guess any exposure is good exposure. ^^

I hope you're not making a suggestion, I pre-ordered Elder Scrolls Online yesterday... I'm not paying another monthly fee, no matter how awesome this game is. I would happily share the cost of renting a server if I had enough gaming friends to do so though, even with barely any administrative powers. It's more about freedom than the cost of a subscription, I feel a little violated by ZeniMax.

I had a similar idea for when you rob two less geared players, you do need a gun for to assert your dominance of course. Make them strip off and drop their stuff, make them stand apart and drop something lowish damage dealing between them and tell them the last one alive gets to live and keep their stuff. Then shoot the survivor anyway, no-one likes a traitor. >=) I like to think I would play the hero but I think I might have to indulge occasionally. ^^ Awesome idea Brok21k! Sadly my current laptop runs at like 6fps ><, but I will add you soon if you are up for doing more of this sort of thing?.

*Looks around sheepishly.* That's rather funny considering how many people have been discussing in this post. ^^ Damnit! Embed won't work... >< For the love of god... all I had to do was link it! Ah, the page I used for instructions was from 2009... -.- Pretty clever really, the system simulates having had a good diet in the past, there's a follow up video too.

Fire is a severe performance killer graphic wise, if you want it to look half-way descent anyway. A cool idea but I doubt it will ever be added as you describe for whole buildings. Anyway, it's not really as easy to burn a house down to the ground as most people think. Especially a military building, which I am sure are built to be a lot more resilient to such things. Ramshackle sheds built by players, however, those would certainly burn. Perhaps if you could start small fires, blocking someone in a corridor or something like that. In reality you would just jump through the flames and probably be fine, though if someone is waiting on the other side with an axe, or worse, that would be a different story. ^^

Chernarus Survivor Census - the CSC

If you thought it was bad now, just wait until they make the zombies a real challenge, now that's going to be nerve shattering. People will be logging all the time just to go change their trousers. ^^ -

"I take each day in Chernarus as it comes. If my friends are on I'll probably play with them; if not, so be it, I might find someone else." I left this one sort of open just in case. :) Unless you mean that you do not play unless your friends are on? In which case go for "Hey guys and gals! What we doing today?" It is after all only your preferred play-style. I can add "I won't play unless my friends are on." if you really want, but it seems a little similar to me. :S -

Noted and edited accordingly. Is the new option okay? -
What is the most important skill to learn to succeed in DayZ?
Survivor_Sabre replied to autoloon's topic in General Discussion
With an attitude like that I would not be at all surprised if many hope you Alt+F4 your life. :P For me I think patience, if you're unsure how to proceed then sit and wait until the situation becomes more favourable. Interesting fact: Did you know, recent studies suggest that people with brown eyes have better reaction times and people with blue eyes are better at strategic thought and forward planning. Don't know what this means for those with green eyes... I have blue eyes, was always rubbish at sports and often win at strategy games. Sounds like it could well be true to me. ^^ So if anyone wants to play with me; I vote I'm the leader and you guys can be the grunts. ;) -

Wow! 3 members had already cast votes before I finished deciding on how I would play. ^^ If you think I've missed any options out just say and I will try and add them, though I think I've covered the full spectrum. -
You must be loaded if you're willing too throw money at the developers for every little update... Wish I was rich enough too think like that... :( ;) Did I mention? DayZ team... I wub wu! <3

It would be absolutely amazing, but there are a lot of problems with it also. For example, why would the bandit not just shoot the medically aware player and just take the book for themselves? No player would leave something that valuable behind. A learning curve by repetition would be fairer. As they say, practice makes perfect. :)

Loud, 10 Second Sound On Spawning, Hearable Within ~200M Spawn Delayed By 5 Secs
Survivor_Sabre replied to Cullis's topic in Suggestions
While I think we can all agree this isn't the best idea, you've got too admire the voting option 'I hope you die, horribly." ^^ -
Damn they look cool, always wanted one but they are illegal in the UK. :( Should definitely be added. K-O! ^^

Seriously, just the fact that iPhone was in the title of this post made me not want too bother reading it before I go off on one; but I forced myself too so I could actually make a descent reply rather than a raging rant. I deeply resent it when people assume everybody on Earth craves technological synergy. Furthermore, I don't want too be at a disadvantage, and would find it incredibly unjust if I where, merely because I refuse too conform. Enough said.

Has already been mentioned and discussed. The answer was a firm and resounding 'no'.

Remove Ability To Zoom When Running(Sprinting)
Survivor_Sabre replied to Domod's topic in Suggestions
I'd rather it was removed altogether than sprint and zoom (without severe hindrance at least) being possible. Though I think they should allow a small zoom when stood still. I could be wrong, and please correct me if I am, I have not had the opportunity too play much yet due too currently using a rubbish laptop; but I believe the zoom function will be/already is used for certain interactions. Also, no zoom might put those with lower resolution screens at a disadvantage? Again, I could be mistaken, just thought it should be brought up in case. -
This totally and utterly made my day! Please somebody make a machinima episode about Franchi and some bandits who destroyed some of his stash of books. 1 billion views for sure!

^^ Well, they should allow female characters to use the razor too shave and the more they do so the faster their beard begins too grow. That results in two things. Firstly it means you'd have a great way too troll female characters other than just making them go bold, you can contribute too them getting a beard. Imagine it, you keep a female player captive for a few days shaving them repeatedly until you let her go free with a lovely peach-fuzz for her troubles. XD Secondly, if you want a bearded female character you really have too work at it rather than just having loads of bearded ladies running allover the place; that would be a serious immersion killer.

non-night vision alternative (light up the town)
Survivor_Sabre replied to commanderbash's topic in Suggestions
Ah, my bad. I thought they lasted longer. I had an image in my head of a canister slowly floating down on a little parachute but now I researched it I see how unlikely that is. Also, turns out they don't really make very good weapons either. >< Is it just me or is my mind corrupted by stupid Hollywood movies? ^^ -
Yeah, all joking aside, regardless of whether we would like something like this in a games (I personally would have no problem with it as long as it was a strictly adult game), society just isn't ready. Especially since much of the media still caters too those who won't believe all the studies done into the effects of game violence and whether they correlate with real violence. I think most gamers would agree pretty conclusively that there is no link.

Your cause is admirable, but I do think the benefits of self-administered IV far outweigh the encouragement towards a more social play-style. After all, those that kill on sight, perhaps not now but almost certainly once the game is ready for full release, are just as likely too be playing in a group as on their own. In my opinion the benefits of not allowing self-administered IV is a temporary one, and not a long term one.
