Do you believe people who shoot on sight are terrible at DayZ?
doctorwhy replied to GriefSlicer (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
1.) From our videos we try to have some fun and not kill people on sight. Do we troll, torture and try to have some fun yes. Where we will KOS is at ANY military base or Airfield. We've learned far too often there really isn't anyone showing up there to be peaceful. We don't camp those areas in hope to snipe poor suckers looking for loot. We're looting, we get what we can and move out to the surrounding cities and areas. Anyone that crosses our path that we get the jump on we will kill and hope that nobody gets the jump on us. 2.)Survival of the fittest in Military zones. Simple as that. If you get the jump on us first then we didn't follow the cardinal rule "To be killed on sight you need to be in sight" good on you and we will adjust our play style to make up for our mistake. If we got the jump on you that means we're working together and have our eyes out in the right places to get the jump on you and you should review the cardinal rule yourself. What makes us good players is we don't bitch when we die. It's just loot and every death is a learning opportunity. We're also good because we aren't camping bitches hoping to just get the jump on poor suckers. 3.) My opinion? None if that's how they want to enjoy their $30 purchase so be it. It will always be an unfortunate reality of the game and human nature in general. Dicks are out there because some people just want to see the world burn. I know How I am enjoying the game with my partner in crime Danger Ranger and we luvs the game. 4.) See number 3. 5.) Nope. -
Playing around Danger and I were in a silly mood and decided we wanted to check survivors for Zombie pathogens. Most reactions from people were hilarious until a dreaded punch in the face drove us into a very DARK place. Were we Sadistic in our revenge or would you do something similar?

If You Could Add Any Gun To DayZ, What Would You Add And Why?
doctorwhy replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Realistic Suggestions: - Handmade Bows and Arrows - Manufactured compound bows and arrows - LEG HOLSTERS! Like seriously you can and should be able to put a handgun gun on each leg. - The Ability to duct tape ammo or Joker and ACE cards to your helmets ala vietnam style (and obviously the addition of card items.) - The Rifle I love is already in the game. The Mosin Rifle was used by one of WWII's most bad ass snipers. Simo Hayha Unrealistic Wish List: -
I've learned the HARD way. in Military bases and airfields. Just Kill everything. Also stay away from the western prison building in Balota. Lots of people like to hide in the glitch and kill without discrimination.

I like the rain and weather it's cool however I notice that it rains WAY more than sunny. there should be a balance between the two.

When does your "switch" flip during an encounter?
doctorwhy replied to Wiggin Miller's topic in General Discussion
Me previous experience with most players is kill first cause people hardly interact. -

Sun is Blue now - is this Cryis 3 or what?
doctorwhy replied to Lordocalot's topic in General Discussion
Because we already read Carl Sagan and watch a ton of space documentaries. -
6. To be killed on sight means you have to be in sight. 7. Rice is greater than beans especially when close to a water source 8. It's always daylight somewhere

Do you leave your morality at the door?
doctorwhy replied to tamingatche91's topic in General Discussion
I used to try and be nice. It was a combination of purely sadistic KOS'rs, Bambis with nothing to loose not talking and just attacking at the shore, backstabbers who were nice then turned on us. My morality is completely checked at the door and the survival has driven me insane to toy with both bambis and geared people alike anywhere on the map. Whether it be straight up shooting for no reason or making an unarmed bambi do weird stuff to satisfy my need for entertainment during the apocalypse. My in gamer persona is very Chaotic neutral and hard to predict if he'll let somebody walk or die (mostly) -
Edit: Had to re read. Yeah I understand it's not supposed to be COD and that's not what you're saying. Whoops

Science says that our star is too small to even threaten to become a black hole, But your science is correct. However when it does eventually start to die (before it goes nova) it's going to grow because it's mass is going to shrink and the force of gravity that holds the gasses to the size it is now will be less and it will consume us mercury venus and possibly mars in one hell of a fiery burning death. -
Oh man, not DOGS Failure in Fable, Failure in COD Ghosts, failure in games period. Keep your Dogs in IRL. If I wanted to relive I am legend I'd just watch it.

You sir are my hero! I totally agree that it's way too bright. That's why I keep my server at 8am, it's not over the hills, you get that cool morning orange hue (To OP yes this is also like real life) and it's not in your face. An actual great example of a beautiful sun that isn't in your face annoying is GTA V's Have some beans. -

Um...Do you even know how light works in the real world? It's pretty absorbent from things it goes through and bounces off of. In your first image it's a cloudy day. As a photographer this is the perfect kind of day for photography because of the dispersion of light and dulling of the colour. When light bounces off objects in your house depending on the serface it will absorb it's colour, it's why you can see red hues around a coke can under a lamp, or the wall near a reddish wooden table will pick up some of that colour. This Image is showing that it's working according to physics as much as the computer can handle. As for the tree image, oh wow look it's casting a shadow and blocking the sun just like IRL. I'd say that's a very decent example of volumetric lighting in game and being rendered on the fly. Granted yes in real life you could see some sun but our technology isn't at the level of rendering hundreds of thousands of pines on a tree yet. Guess we'll have to wait for affordable quantum computing to game on. oh P.S the sun itself isn't even yellow in real life. It's white hot as it expels and burns it's hydrogen at really high levels of heat. We've just gotten used to as humans colouring it orange or yellow or in space documentaries showing a ball of flame because that's the best interpretation for something that's visually exciting. You sir Fail -
I would really like to know your logic process in connecting Dean Halls announcement and Bandit/KOS'rs and how they're related. There is absolutely no correlation at all. Come back when you make sense.

I don't think it's over. 1.) He's still got 10 months with the company. That is a LOT of development the way they've been handling sprints. 2.) Many other ideas have been passed down from predecessors and survived in many other industries. Product Mangers/Developers change roles as well in other development scenarios not just gaming. Case in point (probably a really loose one) The Harry Potter series had different directors throughout and is still very decent and cohesive. 3.) By the time it hits full release we might be bored with the game anyway and on to new things. Probably our fault for getting in so early.

Now we have zeds respawning... what about the loot ?
doctorwhy replied to Rancor's topic in General Discussion
Patience! Dev takes time, and a lot of it. Do I want respawning loot? HELLS yeah! The kinks they'll learn with this zombie re spawn can go into the loot. It's a major thing they're wanting to do and have stated it many times in posts and videos. We'll get there in time! -
Wow! just wow! I used to be REALLY frustrated by KoS'rs until I started thinking about what others have said here. To be killed on sight you need to be in sight. I stopped getting attached to my gear knowing I can do it again. Yes it could take awhile to get it again but there chances of running into humans is still there and the tension is still thick in the air. Me and Danger do like to play with bambi's but it's never a kill on sight situation. We like to make them do wacky things and do the obligatory pants thieving. In one instance we ended up meeting a group of really good people and players because we toyed with a bambi but didn't kill them. Now our group went from 2 to 5or6 just because of this chance meeting. As for the situation above where the poor dude got shot in the back after helping..yup that's a totally realistic situation everyone should be prepared for. At the same time you have to take those chances. Anything can happen in this game. This game is NOT CoD, it's NOT Battleflield. There is much more at risk when you die so you really need to be careful. Every death is a lesson on sticking your head out and taking a chance saying hi to somebody. even a bambi. You can get knocked out quickly and lose all your stuff without even dying. to the OP sorry dude you can go enjoy something else as it seems you haven't learned how this game is different from a traditional FPS. Enjoy your Peggle 2
