  1. So, after searching for hours for mi-8 crash sites (only found 4 so far) it seems pretty irritating for them to have civilian clothes and a hat. Considering the rarity of helicopter crash sites they should perhaps not spawn such a large variation of lower tier gear so that the chances of finding a true gem such as a Smersh Vest are somewhat more realistic to find. (although not guaranteed) Don't take me as a hater of helicopter crash sites, if anything I love them representing the high tier military equipment, I just wish they didn't spawn useless stuff as well. would make them far more valuable and thus fought over. (rather than the static military sites which become camp sites for snipers) To me helicopter crash site fights are the most dynamic, sudden and most rewarding fire fights compared to some camping fight in a prison at Balota. Following on the same subject any news on what they are going to do with the mi-8 crash sites? they are far more difficult to spot than the Blackhawk as they are sunk into the ground, have a rusty appearance which makes them difficult to spot in foliage and most obviously they don't have a smoke trail. 2 of the Mi-8 I was lucky enough to find I almost literally stumbled upon, elusive buggers.

    Spawning noise?

I thought the old bug where the person logging in would play the reload sound of their weapon was actually a very effective way of preventing people doing ninja spawn ins and being able to flank or appear behind a player. (especially when you could ghost very easily) Its pretty ridiculous for you to secure a building completely and then have some guy spawning in behind you and nailing you, with the only possible warning being yourself carefully looking at player counts. Considering this is supposed to be a survival game it makes little sense to reward people for spawning in what used to be certain death areas as they are now totally silent and stand a reasonable chance of catching someone with their pants down. To me its like everyone is trained in Vietcong infiltration tactics being able to tunnel behind your arse. Normally you can get lucky and catch the cheeky twats by killing them as they are logging in. Perhaps in the future not being able to log/log off in buildings should be considered. Buildings often glitch you anyway when you log off and although combat logging is far rarer than it what it used to be people will often run into large buildings and log somewhere before you can get to them. This would mean you cant get ninjad once you secure a building and people cant hide and log in buildings which force you to carefully clear them out in the event that they didn't log out and instead are camping.

    I found a flashbang...

Pessimists on this forum, they have said multiple times they are working on the zombie numbers, according to the last couple of dev blogs. they are hoping in exponentially increasing zombie numbers in the near future. Have some faith people.

    Would They Do It Again?

I really don't understand some of the complaints about lack of upcoming content. To me it seems with the recruitment of a lot more staff new features and assets are getting put into experimental and stable every major patch. Vehicles were not even talked about a couple of months back yet we already have a model and mechanics on the near verge of going experimental. (end of the year I would assume) Considering what this game was 1/2 a year ago it has expanded leaps and bounds. I remember when the game wasn't much more than death match in electro using Glitched buildings and Mosin +m4 combos, with entire dupe brigades copying gear in full ttsko gear. Now no such thing exists anymore. If you feel that the game is getting nowhere just play something else for the near future, I took a few months off a while back and when I returned there was a seemingly gigantic amount of content added to mess around with. Things are speeding up people, don't get all mad that they cant do everything in a couple of weeks.

    I have a dream!

I know the feeling man, stick to only trusting people you know outside of the game, aside from unusual circumstances.
  6. Ignore the troll attempt, pics or It didn't happen.
  7. I would think simply changing what the crash sites spawn would solve the problem, currently they spawn mainly useless trash diluting the chances of finding anything good.
  8. Gave it a shot at an mi-8 I found, found nothing extra aside from the usual crappy clothing. Smersh Vests will be the death of me D:
  9. Could you perhaps elaborate on said creative methods XD

    Listening skills...

I can understand his attempt to shoot you, I have been approached by many people claiming to be friendly, but as soon as I stand still they then put a bullet in my face. I guess its a stratagem to make you stand still so they can cleanly kill you. (and thus get loot)
  11. Isnt the SVD supposed to essentially replace the Mosin as the sniper (albeit far rarer)

Tents dissappearing or looted within half a day

Are you sure you were on a persistent server? I have had my tent up for several days now, so far not discovered.
  13. It seems like equipment cannot absorb zombie hits as much, our team at the NW had to end of shooting zombies on sight, as a single hit caused bleeding and caused a real shortage on bandages. (the server was a little unstable/laggy though) Personally I think it makes zombies a little more dangerous, although the critical hit bug they seem to have is still annoying.
  14. So yeah, playing on hardcore for a bit of yolo in Berazino. Getting really irritating fps drops that seen to correlate with players in the area, basically makes the game unplayable and only seems to occur when I have been playing for a while, leading me to suspect cooling issues. Either that or my hardrive (which is on its way out) is bottlenecking my otherwise reasonable system. I understand Arma isn't very well optimised, but surely my specs should run the game with no problems. Anyone else having this issue? Specs: XFX AMD 6870 Graphics card (HD-687A-ZHFC) 8 Core AMD 8150 8 core processor. 6GB RAM Running Windows 7 64 Bit.

    There's too many items

One side effect of this though is that the dupers are going to have a field day. Picturing pass worded servers full of tents with duped gear for clans to retrieve after they yolo charge Berazino.
  16. Question is in the title, it was supposed to hit this week, any news?
  17. OmpaLompa

    About that persistent hotfix..................

Thanks for the quick response guys, not a regular on the forum so I dont know where to look to get these kinda updates. Free to lock now I guess.

    Char' restart & campers....

Although not the dirtiest thing you can do on dayz (that's hacking) Combat logging is still heavily frowned upon. I don't see how someone can compare the kos system to combat logging. One is a legitimate and safe method of survival, if a bit lame at times. Another is exploiting the fact your character can warp to different dimensions to escape threats in previous ones which of course is in no way realistic. Would you not argue shooting people on sight would be a foreseeable outcome in a survival world? I'm sure many people wouldn't take chances with others, especially if things were desperate. ofc combat logging is by no means realistic, hence why people hate it so much and view it as a cheap way to escape. I also fail to see how KOS ruins the game, its always been part of it and until more survival content and overall loot balance is added it will always take precedence over survival interaction. Currently I find the most interaction is why people have just spawned or have looted basic gear, when you get people with better gear they tend to shoot first to not risk loosing the gear which in my book is fair enough. In the case of this chap its clear he was caught and killed, as people have mentioned you character sticks about for 30 seconds before it disappears, ill wager they chased you and noticed you disconnecting or assumed you would and caught you before your character disappeared. In future you shouldn't combat log, its a cheap way to avoid death. Dont know how many times we have encircled some guy in a building and he simply logs out, requiring us to monitor player counts and try to keep a visual. Often it forces us to storm a building because we have to assume they will try and combat log. Some do, some don't. The ones who don't give us more entertainment. At least thing are far better than they used to be, before the 30 second timer was added you could log out of a server instantly. Every other guy would log out soon as he was shot at. Also think of it this way, if you combat log you run the risk of your character being caught and the people shooting at you can simply pop your guy in the head and take all your pristine loot. If you go out fighting chances are they will riddle you with bullets and ruin your stuff, meaning they earned nothing from killing you (especially if you can shoot them as well and ruin some of their stuff too)

    You are welcome here...

An awesome camp. Putting it on the forums is only going to get it looted though :( Either that or its a trap, cant decide:

    First Balancing pass on firearms

Any word on the MP5? when I tested the thing I was really surprised how extreme its dispersion is. Having it somewhat more accurate would make it a viable weapon outside of houses, and justify its rarity.
  21. OmpaLompa

Has the Mosin 9130 been nerfed?

Headshot maybe? there the only shots that have a realistic chance if instakilling if you have gear.
  22. Not sure if its just me, but the MP5 accuracy goes into the realm of ludicrous beyond 20-30 metres. Was testing the thing and the shots were going 2 metres from where I was aiming........ Now I know it shouldn't be nearly as accurate as a assault rifle, but surely it should be reasonably accurate to 100 metres at least? I might post some pics.
  23. Title is the suggestion: similar to the mod (haven't played) Just seems a bit stupid you cannot store something like a M4 into a backpack (especially the mountain ones) don't know how many times I have found a extra weapon that my mates could really use, yet cannot at least attempt to store it into a backpack. Should of course take up plenty of room, depending on the weapon. Certain weapons are perhaps too long (Mosin/future sniper rifles?) Just a quick suggestion, Thoughts?

Ability to Store any weapon in a backpack

    Whoops, could somebody move?
  25. Having never played the mod I cant say much on the choppers, certainly armed variants would have to be rare among other things. I do think it is possible however, just make sure that they weren't as exploitable as they were on the mod (judging from vids) I would love to use Helis in Dayz situations with a group, would really reward teaming up with people. However it should be a last addition to the game, things such as persistent storage, better zombies and a multitude of other problems need to be addressed. Someone mentioned manpads, perhaps having rare Launcher spawns, primarily RPGs but maybe a super-rare Strela or Igla (stingers are too American, not likely to be found in Chernarus) as said these should be extremely rare if added, but of course would murder choppers, and make it slightly riskier flying. (imagine Manpad ambushes) The whole helo process, like the rest of the game will require extensive testing and balancing to get right.
