The CCSD (Chernarian Creepy Stuff Department) Needs investigators for the Radio transmission mystery.
Erikp3 replied to rydekk's topic in General Discussion
I'm still here, I actually made part of that morse code/SSTV thing a while back. It was probably the only one officially left "unsolved". I debated making another mystery for you guys, but it's really hard to track you down. -
Please don't post the long version of your stories unless of course the story is requested by someone else to be expanded upon. In my 95 hours I've... Been mugged for my blood 1x Had my pants stolen while handcuffed 1x Had to beat a man to death with a blunt object 2x Assisted in a suicide 1x Given out supplies 2x Been in fist fights 4x Fallen off a roof and died 4x Lost a friend 4x Lost a brother 1x Shot a man to death 4x (3 all at once) Shot at a man without harming him 3x Bluffed my way out of a fight 1x Been killed by zombies 5x Been shot in the back 4x Starved to death 1x Written letters 6x (most of these events have a fairly worthwhile background story) What have the rest of you done?

I'm not part of the TMW or anything but I do try and be kind whenever I can. For a while now I've been living in the sky-scraper cities above Cherno/Balota and have been surviving quite well. I've run out of things to do so I mostly forage and read up here. If there is anyone in the experimental branch that needs any kind of help, be it medical attention (I've got a buttload of saline) or you just need some help getting supplies (I'll take you around the general area so long as we stay away from the airfield.) then please contact me. I don't have much else to do anyway. General Discussion Part: Do any of you guys pick a specific place and more or less camp out in it's ruins?

Still alive and still bored anyone else up here?

Looking for a group of players to feature in videos/livestreams

I need people to play with I suppose. I've got skype. I don't like killing people for no reason. But I thoroughly enjoy messing with them, What time zone you in? -
Remember that creepy radio mystery? Here is the real-life radio station of it, abandoned, in Povarovo, Russia. So much DayZ in this....
Erikp3 replied to nudelwalker's topic in General Discussion
I forgot to mention something else. Most people don't know why it is that number's stations exist. I'm not sure about all the random frequencies out there. But I do know that most numbers stations are listing off information connected to various one-time pads. It's basically how spies can safely communicate to each other. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-time_pad -

I'm still bummed out no one figured out that C1 thing in the end. -
If you're ever in the sky-scraper towns above Cherno/Balota hit me up. I'd be willing to share food and might have something you're trying to get someone else. Never know.

Ha, happy birthday man, I turned 18 today and think I'm going to spend most of my time camping out in game when I'm not busy doing life-stuff
-
Yeah, the experimental branch usually only attracts the players that read up on the game and whatnot. I have more fun in them by far. Most interactions feel like I'm dealing with people not players if you get what I mean.

So now that the pen and paper work together again I've finally thought of a good use for it. I'm going to use it to write a journal and keep the pages of it on me for as long as I can. That way if anyone does ever need to kill me they could see a bit of who I was or what I was doing.

What is your fresh spawn tactic for fighting Zombies?
Erikp3 replied to Sebidee's topic in New Player Discussion
Don't fight unless you have a weapon. If you have to fight aim for the head. If you can knock anything out, be it players or zeds then you have the advantage. Just beat on them while they're down. Getting either kind of axe or a gardening hoe will work well for killing them. The fire extinguisher is really accurate if you want to konk them out. I would avoid shovels and crowbars myself. But to each his own. Good luck out there and remember to head further inland if you're on a server with little to no loot. People tend to stick to coastal towns and places adjacent to airfields. Avoid those areas and you can cover your basics with relative safety. If you upset a horde of zombies you'll have to dodge them for a while and then run all the way to the next town over trying to lose them. Try and sneak around. Zombie sight is supposed to be based on human sight so camo and dark clothing helps. Stay in shadows and make as little nosie as possible. -
I personally love the idea of a hostile faction possibly having a ton of power over me. The world is not balanced why the hell does the game constantly need to be? It would be really neat to run out and try to find a gun with the express intent of shooting at a helicopter. Then having to hide while a bunch of armed guys chased me down. It sounds like an unfair power balance could create some really intense gameplay and I personally think people want the game to be too damn easy. This game should be very punishing everytime you do anything stupid. Just walking on the main roads is dangerous and it should stay that way. High powered weapons should be rare but should still be there. I don't want to walk around without any fear. I play this game for the adrenaline each time you talk to a person while really immersed. If everything were so damn easy that I wasn't ever scared there wouldn't be a point. This game would just turn into a walking around and house building game, not a survival horror simulation. This isn't minecraft. It's Day Z.

Well, let's just establish this. Chernarus is not Russia. I don't think this is as xenophobic as you guys are knocking it for being. He has a point, the island is not far from Russia and should follow a lot of the customs followed there. They will be changing gun spawns and adding many more guns soon so those items can't really be argued about. Russian influences on the clothes are there but there are many western ones as well. This isn't unrealistic though, western culture could be popular in Chernarus. As far as flags go, no one knows the official military history of Chernarus, the U.S. may have sent troops there. There are a lot of tell tale signs that the UN intervened at some point in the process of the zombie outbreak. However I feel like Chernarus itself should have it's own flag. That'd be neat to see places especially all tattered. All in all you're addressing a topic of minor importance but it's still worth addressing. The game design has a long way to come but so far I haven't noticed things going in a bad direction.

For anyone who doesn't play on night servers, maybe give them a chance? They're really something else with the right music playing. Very atmospheric and probably my favorite servers to just think on. Also general night time stories topic. Who else likes to play in the dark and why?
-
Photosensitivity would be a better term than night-vision. Night-vision is too much of a vague blanket term. Some animals are more photosensitive than others and some individuals of a species may be more photosensitive than others. Human photosensitivity varies on how long youve been exposed to a certain light level. My eyes personally work better in darker situations. It may just be a mater of personal design differences.

This topic... all these pointless arguements... all of us being idiots. What have I created?
-
Having both of those so low only makes you dimmer (see what I did there?) You're no better than anyone else because you cant see light the same. Calm your tits and play your game how you feel like it. But please, have the decency to respect the opinions of others. Your comments from the very beggining were of an aggressive nature.
-
I have, often. Do you have sunglasses grafted into your face? It's honestly not that dark.
-
Thanks, you sir made my day. These forums can be a hostile place sometimes.
-
Oh get off your high (dark) horse for 3 seconds. That level of darkness is unrealistic and it would be pointless to play like that.
-
I'd quote the other mention of the word cheating. But I assume you can read. Just do that. On a side note, I'd totally change the title to "Walking Around In The Dark" if it were possible. Though It seems pointless to get hot and bothered about word choice. (But I'd still call 17:30-21:30 fumbling) Edit: Flashlights are for weenies you should not need a flashlight to see. They should help but not be necessary. They do this already. Setting it so dark that the flashlights are your only way of seeing anything is idiotic. The moonlight coming through the clouds and the fact that your pupils can adjust mean that when your outside or near a window you should be able to see more or less okay.

Bro.. bro. bro. Listen bro. Bro. Okay. Bro? Bro, you listening. bro. Okay, i'm gonna tell you something. Bro, listen bro. The name there. The topi- bro. Listen. The topic name bro. It just sounded cool bro. Come on bro. You know this. Also when I said I had the gamma slided up I meant to the degree that you can see in the second video. It's above normal but not maxed out or anything. It's just a visual preference thing. I stick by what I said earlier too, I don't think anyone who does pump up their gamma/brightess is cheating. It's a setting in the game. It's built in. They're not hacking their screen to be brighter. It's not against the rules or against the spirit of the game. It just annoys the people who like having a lower visibility then them because they're afraid of getting killed by something they can't see. Which honestly isn't grounds for complaining since you could also just turn up your settings. You choose not to and should deal with the consequences of that choice, both the negative and positive ones. I'm sure people will be less inclined to over-boost their gamma settings when night time has it's kinks worked out.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUtHOhDarWQ Okay here, this video might get you guys to stop whining. I use the same settings during the day and during the night in the game and aside from skipping the spawn-timer I didn't edit the footage. In the previous video I did however pump up the brightness and contrast a tad. I'm starting to think you fellows aren't even watching more than a few seconds of the stupid thing seeing as the start of it is filmed right when things started to get dark. There was still quite a bit of sunlight. I honestly don't know why you guys think it's any better to play with your settings lower than they should be. Your visibility would be so bad it would be pointless to try and go anywhere at all.

So when are loot/spawn locations being fixed?
Erikp3 replied to scaramoosh's topic in General Discussion
These kinds of biting comments are neither helpful nor constructive to the discussion of the game. I swear, the community on the forums is so hostile. No wonder rocket only ever checks the reddit. There is a legitimate problem with the way things spawn and the devs are working on it. They're close to putting loot respawning into the experimental branches which will mostly fix the fact that people can't find loot very often. It's very depressing to spawn in and then die of starvation after going town to town. I also would really enjoy seeing more spawn locations added. These vary often and I trust the devs to find a good balance for them. I personally like the walking, its time to think about things. I'm not in this game to pop in and expect immediate action. I like to get immersed in it. I'm sure the addition of vehicles will help with those of you who do find the walking tiresome.
