I can't seem to hit the side of a cathedral with my acog so I've been practising with the RV1 RDS Optics. Trying to set up a shot over 500 m is a challenge, finding 1000 m one may well be impossible. This is the with the M4 with mp stock and hand grip, with the bipod deployed, laying prone. Out of the corner of my eye I catch a black speck in the otherwise clear field in the distance, circled at the end of the red line near the centre of the image. An estimate of the locations on the map and distance: As seen through the binoculars: Same sight line through the ACOG: Lining up with the RV1 RDS: After 4 shots with a 1-2 second pause between shots I think I see him go down so I confirmed with the binoculars.

I always have it out if I'm prone, never out when I'm kneeling, just out of habit, so I don't know, I'll give it a try. The only major difference I've noticed; while standing accuracy is greatly reduced for anything over a few hundred meters.

weeeeeeak. Yeah, I've stopped in the middle of forest a few times, start rifling through my pack, pull out the ammo box to organize.... a zombie growling accompanied by the sounds of the thuds as he beats me. Get up, run away, kill zombie, spend 5 minutes trying to find ammo box in the dark before admitting defeat a couple hundred rounds lighter. Yesterday I spawned in, was greeted by the text "I feel warm blood on my clothes" wait forever.... hear a zombie beating me, fall into a blind run, the video slowly comes in, shoot the zombie, discover I left my first aid kit on the last server cause it was in my hands. The lucky part was the first house I ran into in a panic actually had a shirt.

I've had that happen and I lost him in the trees. Really anything under 700 m, and you can see them pretty clearly, you can see them getting hit and falling. I have had one get back up once and I shot her again, but for the most part the cause of death is pretty clear. I suppose I should shut it till I get fraps or something, but I really have no motivation to exaggerate. I mean, if you're comfortable assuming the m4's range litmitations (not that you specifically are) you may be surprised, by someone else. Sidenote: I really really can't wait until suppressors function.

Cool thank you, I'll try that. I was using the bipod, I went prone to shoot. You can make out a little movement when one drops, the absence of a collection of black pixles. Ahh, see I always use the associate cross with whatever range they're at. I'll try zeroing and using the centre cross. So in theory you could range them, set the zero, use the centre cross, or leave at default zeroing (200m I think), range them, and use the cross that aligns with the range?

thanks! lol - well if you're comfortable with that assumption I have nothing to lose. ;) I can't get it to work for me. Believe me I wish I could get repeatable results. With the RDS, if they're within 500 m, I can usually drop them the first shot. I understand the bar concept. Are you saying use it to find the range, page up to match, fire using the line that's closest to the shoulders? I can never seem to score a hit from more than 400 m out. Yet with the RDS, as long as the red dot is on center mass, they'll go down. I've had this box for 6 years, I'm happy I can still run most stuff. If you wanna donate a new card I'll only post pretty highres shots from then on.

I'm a little curious if people who have this problem are used to playing preferred servers all the time? I used to have a few favourites that some friends and I stuck too, but almost always sort by ping now, and don't seem to have allot of these problems anymore, unless I go back to one that's spiking over 80-100. Perhaps I'm geographically lucky that I have a large selection of servers to choose from between 50 - 70. I'm only running the basic cable service to my door so I only average 15-20 Mbps down, maybe .6 up when I'm lucky.

I logged back in not even really expecting my character to be there, it's been a couple months. But I found myself fully kitted, 2 full ammo cases one full of 60 stacks 556, the other full of buckshot, m4 with all the pristine attachments not already on it, hidden away in yellow boxes, fully pristine black tac shirt, black UK vest, and black cargo pants, etc etc. 2-3 weeks worth of collecting. Gone, falling off a cliff. Respawn right by cherno, takes me ten minutes to find an sks and paint it black. A green rain coat and some bullets later, I head straight for the NE airfield, hoping to get into a fight, find one, die. Totally reckless abandon sets in, run through Elecktro shooting zombies for sport with the double shot I picked up a few minutes after spawning, completely ignoring the indications I may be dying of hunger, or thirst, or both. Get to the school and decide to look for some optics up top. I had picked up a mosin just before reaching the school, but didn't have ammo for it so it was on my back. I try to drop the double before climbing up the ladder, but somehow it follows me up. So after finding nothing on the roof, I have to go down, drop the mosin, go back up grab the double. ekkk As I'm coming down the ladder with the double (the one I did have bullets for) I hear the familiar click click of someone spawning in. I figure it's about 90% likely they're in the room that spawn the gun parts. I wheel around the corner, and buddy's sitting there. One quick pop from the double. Not only did he have a M4 with some great attachments and a pristine RV1 RDS, but he also had a 9mm, .45, 357, and a sawed off shotty in his mountain backpack along with plenty of assorted ammo in his ammo box. The next 4-5 minutes was mad juggling while I sorted out what I wanted to keep before someone found me. Kitted again!

About twenty minutes or so before I posted Oh really? I didn't imagine the sound, and I sure didn't imagine the loot ;). I heard the same thing I associate with someone spawning in and sure enough there was someone there, sitting. I made all the connective assumptions so, I'm sure there's another possible explanation. Yea, I skipped ahead in the story a ways. Interesting, I didn't realize the sound had been removed. I suppose it could have been him reloading intentionally, but when I came around the corner he was sitting? Meh, either way I replaced half my gear.

M4A1 all Magpul = 0.0020072 This figure seems more accurate for single shots. I've had repeatable results between 700-900m where I've had a chance to set up the shot using only the RV1 RDS/all Magpul.

Nice! One of my all time favourite games/mods as well! Man I dug that Kriss Super V. It sounded like a longer mumbling growl with the same amount of syllables as "Get out of here." I thought it was kinda cool they were warning me to get away. Perhaps I drink too much. =P

I was just searching for a topic specific to zombies spawning indoors. Nothing more disconcerting than opening a door at night, slowly panning your flashlight around finding you're face to face with a zombie. The last idea, in my opinion would add an interesting dimension. If once killed you became a player controlled zombie, indistinguishable from other zeds, and other zeds were not hostile towards you, until you're killed again. Perhaps you'd lose your ability to type/talk? (with or without optional respawn on non hardcore servers perhaps) I realize it's a little elaborate, and I'm not really weighing the pro's/con's. Just a thought.

I've lost many a fully loaded char to ladders. Either by accidentally backing off it, getting to the top and finding myself in midair, (my personal fav) getting the "no message from server" message several moments after being near the ladder, and finding out I disconnected while on it.

If you can find some sticks and some rope, or some morphine. Or jump off of something high.
