    Stories Of Chernarus

yeah I've been foloowing that, hoping it becomes something more than the Skyrim Sea Monster. Yeah either, or works for me. A nice immersive world is nice, but I don't want gameplay sacrificed just to grab a cool story. State of Decay did this well. They never explained how the infection started, just how it spread. But if you looked really hard you could find a Biohazard cargo canister somewhat near the debris of a plane crash. After it was found, tons of fan speculkation happened.

My Kos Philosophy (I'm Not Complaining)

It's pretty funny how well that's worked for me so far. bandit: "hey you! stand still! F2!" Me: *runs away and doesn't get hit* bandit: :(

    Stories Of Chernarus

I'd love to see something like this implemented. I always loved how S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s world felt so alive with rumors and lore. Really added to the creepiness.

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.

    Is less zombies actually more?

I only played the mod for a small amount of time. Just about 3.4 hours because my computer sucked really bad. I remember running into a ton of zombies when I played. Recently got a new one and immediately purchased the alpha. After relearning the 846 button commands, I noticed there were less zombies, and because they didn't have those ridiculous animations I found them somewhat scarier when unarmed, and because they were so few I keep imagining I'm going to run into them at every corner. The most I've ever even seen at once so far is 2, yet the suspense keeps getting to me, Anyone else feel this way? Maybe I'm just weird.

    Is less zombies actually more?

Oh don't get me wrong. I totally want more zombies. The game needs this. I've just been noticing it has a different effect on the psyche to have them being an underlying, yet almost non-existent threat. Also helps that I'm also always in 1st person so turning around and seeing a zombie 5ft from my face can definitely make me jump..

    Is less zombies actually more?

Agreed, provided they aren't overused. I used to freak out at hordes in State of Decay until they became constant, then I found them annoying.

    Is less zombies actually more?

Lol yeah I meant mod. I'm at work and it's been a long night haha. Edited the original post, but the internet has forever saved my stupidity. I know there are gonna be more in the endgame, but I'm just saying they feel scarier now due to the suspense. Think of how Alien and Jaws worked by showing less.

Stop using logic. This is the internet.

    Gamemodes

I don't think this game needs new game modes, as the core of this game is what appeals to everyone. but fresh ideas would be nice. But I love the hypocrisy in how everyone is saying "No!" and "think outside the box!" at the same time. to the OP, Just set up some servers and set your own rules, (ie PvE only, etc) However now that I think about it, a game mode where zombies were absolutely overrunning Cherno as you escaped or something could be fun. Watching the towns burn during it's outbreak as such could be refreshing as some expansion a couple years down the road.
  12. I dunno why this makes me laugh so much. "well I found a bag, what could I use it for? As a bag? naah, I'll just put it on my head."

KoS and apocalypse go hand in hand.... usually

No, you're completely right. I think I'm seeing a lot of comparisons to it having just spent Saturday played Red Dead with some friends, and everyone is KoS on there, even though it gets you nothing but lulz and maybe a better rifle if he's ranked higher than you. As you said, we both have opinions, and they're just different.

    More, Z Days! *rimshot*

KoS and apocalypse go hand in hand.... usually

Sure it does. They have one main key thing in common: there are zero rules out there. Supplies were more common then, but banditry was legendary for being common place as well. They rarely just simply shot you from 100 yards for your supplies. Not that they didn't at all, but ti wasn't every other bandit.

KoS and apocalypse go hand in hand.... usually

It works in apocalyptic fiction, but when you look at scenarios in real life and in history and it's a tad different. The is a sort of KoS mentality, but for the most part it becomes gangs and people aren't always outright murdered, just robbed of their stuff. Somalia hasn't had a lasting government for decades, they're a bunch of tribes and warlords who run cities. If you're not part of their tribe/clan/gang (whichever term they use), then you don't get food. If you're just a refugee trying to survive and pose no threat they won't kill you, but they won't help you. The Wild West of the US was this same way. Small towns and villages were full of innocents trying to get by. Survival was harsh, supplies weren't wide spread and common, and so in the wilderness bandits would rob you for everything. Sometimes they'd kill you, sometimes they wouldn't. In a disaster from floods, hurricanes, tsunamis etc. people don't just run around killing each other, they tend to group up and help. In the long term I can see animosity growing between groups. I'm not saying KoS needs to go away as it's a core part of the paranoia-pillar this game stands on, it's just unrealistic to me for people to blindly kill anything that's human.

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.

Only got through 4 pages before giving up reading. Instead of forcing skins or other 'flags" why not use some sort of bulletin board system outside of towns. ie: Bandit spotted in area, ( with a very vague description), and it won't come off/update until server reset so if you're gone from the area it can mislead people. It could only be triggered if you killed multiple people within an area in a set time limit.
  18. I'm all for it, as it doesn't do anything to change the gameplay I've always felt achievements weren't as fun to go for on Steam as Xbox, due to the fact that they're not so In-Your-Face about them. But it may inspire some to try new styles of gameplay.

    Small Safe town

^that's pretty much what I imagined it would be like. Doesn't stop a sniper bullet as you walk out or bandit from camping outside, but maybe if you walked out with a group they would hesitate.

    Small Safe town

I always felt this game needed somethign like these. No NPCs or anything, and not even actually safe. Just the feeling of it. Like the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Cordon camp. it feels safe, but it's only guarded by low level NPCs, and can be raided by mutants, bandits, or military at any moment. it's just the illusion that it's safe that makes it important. Think of the rest areas in the wild west. You can rent rooms, take a bath, and trade goods. But they were always under the threat of robbery or worse by bandits. That's how I feel this would be. No NPCs to deal with, no guards except done by players, and it would be a perfect spot for fresh spawns and new players to meet up. Of course, also a good place for bandits to find their victims.

    New Spawn Gear Suggestion

I think it would be nice if you're new. Maybe if the game could register how long you've been a player. I played the mod for a little and bought the expansion last week and pumped 12 hours into it already. I'm not quite a newb, but I'm by no means a veteran, and until you get the basics down, it can be very challenging to fresh players, (this coming from someone who only plays STALKER on master lol). I think most of the players who are saying they think even less now is better are more veteran and are now finding it easier to start from a fresh spawn.
