I was just wondering if you'd noticed this, but often I'll see some pretty good suggestions on the forums, and then in the changelog for upcoming updates, I'll see the exact suggestion having been implemented, almost word for word. I've noticed that in most new updates I see this at least once. For example in the pending 1.7.2 update, a new feature was 50% noise reduction through walls. I saw this exact suggestion, I recall someone saying they could do a LOS check for sound and reduce it by 50% through walls. I'm not sure if thats exactly how it was implemented, by LOS, but it's awesome to see the Forum making a direct impact on the game itself (Even though I may have suggested that doubling LOS checks might not be good fore performance, but 100% good for gameplay) P.S. 1.7.2 looks great on paper, hope it's not got too many new bugs :)

What you spawn with is irrelevant for respect. Spawn with nothing? who cares you start again with noting. start with M16 and NVG and GPS? who cares you start again with same gear. New spawns will always be reckless, short of restricting respawn times to like 10-30 minutes, which I doubt is the answer Edit, suicides however, should have one free suicide, then a 15 minute suicide spawn cooldown, to deter spawn choosing. This wouldnt affect any deaths except successive suicides, so if implementable I see no reason why not! -

Thanks for the adult post. I wouldnt worry, they will fix the bugs, (incoming Alpha comments! hit the deck!), and I don't think rocket's gonna sell us out it terms of dumbing down the whole thing, I pray not anyway. I think the paranoia and intensive immersion leads people to shoot on sight, so it may be indicative of rocket doing a good job actually. bandits will be bandits, and they look the same as the rest of us, so thats just how it is im afraid -

Make some friends on the forum or steam, if you want trust. You will get shot by most when they have the chance, some will shoot regardless of certain zombie death, others will shoot from fear, and a select few will be friendly, though greed may still get the better of them. Announcing that your going to leave the game, for some reason, turns the friendliest of players hostile, seems to be a strangley recurring theme

I agree 100%, I hope to god he doesn't lose touch with the sandbox aspect. I haven't been quite able to put my finger on it but yeah, I hope he doesn't make it too gamey, as it's often been said that DayZ is an "antigame" of sorts. Your points are made very well, we shouldn't aim to convenience everyone just because they know games with similar features, such as group spawning etc. I think Rocket should make a sandbox for people to play in, not a game for people to win. Balance doesn't come into it for this game, or Arma. If thats what it takes to kill, then thats what it'll be. If the original idea is tougher zombies, it will be turned up, and that's that. Arma isn't balanced, it realistic, outside of respawns etc that are nessecary. -

Agree with the whole post. Alot of people like 3rd person, but I don't think it's in the spirit of true survival games, it make it FAAAAAARRR easier to spot other players, especially when the person using it is in grass etc, and can see well over it, whereas other players, sometimes even those using 3rdperson, cannot see the prone guy. Personally I always play 1st person and its FAR more immersive, but feels so gay when you know a guy used 3rd person on you. I would love 3rd person be removed completely, in an ideal world it would always have been off, but now people are too used to being coddled by it, so we'll have to settle for Some severs off, some servers on, lest everyone have a major rage fit. in-fact now I hope he does remove 3rd person, for maximum QQ factor :P, but I wouldnt hold my breath -
I totally agree, and while yes you can team up all you like, we shouldn't have to bend the rules to cater to people who want to team up with their bestfriends. The best thing about this game is that the people should adapt to the game, not adapting the game to the people, because eventually you'll end up with some casual BS that is too easy, and you lose all immersion. If you die, you should have to regroup with your team from however far, add to the risk factor. Without the risk people looking for immersion and genuine emotion when playing will get bored. I'm not pro- uberhardcorehipsters, but this is no ordinary game so don't try to turn it into one, just my opinion :) I think the respawn button should be only useable every 5 minutes, at least. just man up and do the best with what your given, like in real life (not saying this is realistic game, just man up abit guys, if I was born with no legs I wouldnt hit the respawn button... :P)

That's why they are called infected. [/quote'] FYI rocket says the correct term for this game is infected, but zombie is used widely as an informal approximation ALSO!----> breaking bones too often? people should let go of the notion of that if something is higher than before, its too high, and it lower, its too low. Also the notion that harder is always worse. Zombies are a bigger threat now, which is good. they were pussies before hand. if rocket did say that then they absolutely should not be rotting. because they are not zombies. that would explain why they can run so fast. can you tell me where he said this so i can see for myself? and dont send me to that youtube video, im not signing up for anything like that. edit: in that link he does not actually call them "infected" he basically calls them fast zombies. but whatever. http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=16919 see the title, there was another where he specifies, but its lost on me where it is. But yeah if you did watch that video interview with TB, he mentions specifically that they are Infected, not Zombies. Don't worry Youtube requires no account to view most videos, except for age verification vids, and will not give you or your computer AIDS, unless you're just hipster :P Ontopic: LOS checks are being toned down as it is, because they are too performance degrading. Doubling the LOS checks by adding one for sound seems too intensive, if even possible. -

I've been playing with it alot, and although I'm sort of new, I'm now used to working well with the beta patches and startup command codes etc, and I know how to fix errors like Direct3d not loading etc. I've tried, launching Arma2CO from steam, and it plays fine, but no steam overlay appears. I also tried adding the .exe as a non-steam game and again it runs and plays fine, but I cant use the overlay. What really miffs me is that I cant take screen shots. Anyone had this/know possible soultions/causes? Would appreciate any input thanks :) P.S. I double checked that my shortcuts for scrnshot etc are fine, ad it all works for other games

I noticed this too. Thought the Interview was hilariously awkward at times xD. "The zombie movement is a desync issue Im assuming" "yeah...." -"you got the matches?" "Yeah" *Matches still there* "Cool.." Paraphrased anyway, cba looking through the vid again. Anyway, I too would like to know, I think it's important that any particular playstyle isn't forced upon us, but should be feasible (if realistic/appropriate), and would be nice to know what direction we're looking at for the future. I'm not sure adding building into the game would be a good idea, but that up to the devs. I recommend they keep the absurdity out by foregoing gimmicks and game mechanics that people want just because they are used to them in other games, or because they are convenient. -

I saw a vid of someone playing it, and he crouch ran past a monkey like zed, in daylight, at 30m. I'm sure its better now. That said once he aggrod the zombies he was toast. Seems perfect to me :) -
I think tape will lead to more teamwork, and less banditry. Tape is a gamebreaker for me and needs to be fixed, because as Tape is atm I can just run around cherno and agro all the zombies.
