Is there any eta for the release? I've got an issue with my game that makes it unplayable and I apparently need to "wait for the release." Sorry if that sounds rude lol, I just really want to play. I've played the game for years and years (bought standalone as well, but the desync and character lost bugs/glitches are just a bit too much for me) and I haven't played the mod in about 9 months. Also, just out of curiosity... What made you guys change the UI? I miss the old simple green UI D: I noticed zombies are getting nerfed in 1.8.2. They are a tad bit ridiculous at the moment, however how much will this nerf actually effect them? Thanks in Advance!-- CaptLobster

Sorry for double posting, but it's an important question that might be a huge clue to solving my issue. When you run Arma 2 OA (or DayZ) is there supposed to be a command prompt windows that opens up for a split second and then closes before the game starts? I don't know what it says because it goes away so fast.

Didn't do anything for me the first time I tried before making this thread, and didn't work after I tried it again (just now). Guess I'll just need to wait for either A: Some genius tells me how to fix this or B: The game updates.

I'm running it from steam with the Beta- Slected for Arma 2 OA and Beta- 8.1 for DayZ Mod. I've tried running it from DayZ commander and from steam, however it always results in the same ending.

I'm currently in Scout Sniper School for the United States Marine Corp, so I think I can tell you from first hand expierence that it's different shooting at a target that can't shoot/harm you back than one who can. Also, you said "It's not smart to get a group and fight them off?" Them being either humans or infected, it's a very stupid statement because; A: There is an overwhelming amount of infected, you will perish regardless due to lack of supplies/treachery among the group/infected aggression to the density of said group. B: You fight off other healthy humans which in case makes you a hypocrite. "Who would act like a DayZ player in a real zombie apocalypse?" One who plays the game smart. I'd preform the way I do should I be forced to endure such a terrible issue and not be on-duty in the Marines. Also, people would definitley sit on a roof and shoot other people who came close to their potential supplies. I know that's what I'd be doing at a late stage apocalypse. Sit on a roof all day while reinforcing my position somewhere and look for the enemy with mile-high tape over my scope in making sure I don't sky-line with a 2x2 loop hole to shoot out of when I do constantly scanning the area for potential supplies and threats, eliminating the latter from a safe distance and not collect his/her supplies until I believe the time is right. Maybe bring a friend of mine and teach them how to spot so I can pick off multiple targets faster. When did I say I could take on 30 zombies? Never. However KoSing is a much better chance of surviving than welcoming in potential enemies/weak links. There are less people, but guess what? People don't give a shit! People have primal instinct which is to survive, and to survive is to get supplies in our now limited pool of food, fresh water and shelter. People have MUCH more reason to kill than to not. This is my last post here, because honestly if you disagree with these points, you are either extremely smart and thoughtfull (Which I doubt highly looking at your posts) or just an idiot who will disagree with somebody who is trained in shooting Sniper Rifles, Assault Rifles, Hand guns, Personal Defense weapons, Carbine Rifles, Explosives, Survival Techniques, Combat training, Trapping, Pathfinding, Scouting, Tracking, Hand to Hand Combat, and has been trained in training scenarios of actual combat, among other knowledge on either of those subjects I have picked up from personal expierence.

Every server I join this happens. I get in-game and start doing what I do for about 20 seconds before I get kicked with a message saying "Authentication Timeout." I did just finish fixing an issue with Arma 2 OA however I don't think it's related. I just really can't seem to get this game to work after it broke a couple of months ago, but prior to that I've played for years! I've heard that apparently I have to wait for the 1.8.2 update to be realeased. Is there any possible way I can get this fixed prior? Thanks a bunch!-- CaptLobster

This game is heavily focused on PVP. There isn't much to do in the game besides looting, so interaction with other players is inevitable. Now you could be friendly, but that's pretty boring as well considering you get nothing physically out of it and it's actually quite boring. Or, you could shoot this guy and get the adrenaline rush that comes with all his gear. There are guns in this game, and players who can use said guns. In history, mankind has always slaughtered each other. Are you saying now that they have even more reason to do so that they shouldn't? You say that killing fresh spawns in wrong. Why is it wrong? You say it's wrong because it will hurt sales. By far, you couldn't have made a more terrible point. Have you seen the best selling game on steam for a period of like 2 weeks? That was DayZ SA. Wow man, it really did hurt sales right? It hurt it so much that was the best selling game on all of steam! Boy you sure did make a good point there! Another reason you use is that the game is focused on survival. Guess what killing people if for? ...SURVIVING. "But CaptLobster, you don't get anything out of killing a freshie!" Yes, you do. There are more requirements to surviving than food and water irl. Sanity is a huge factor, and if killing another person helps keeps you sane, than hell you're surviving! It also eliminates a potential threat. Say that fresh spawn went a looted a gun and then shot you? Well he can't if he's dead! This is a pvp focused game. There's an infinite amount of supplies with zombies barely being a threat. Try to argue with my argument and I'll make you look even more stupid (if it's possible) than you already look. I also noticed you didn't argue with my posts earlier, knowing they were far superior to your own. So how about you shut up, and stop being mad and making false points about KoSing new spawns because that's what happens to poor old baby boy Gentleman. This is so sad. For those saying don't KoS; You can play how you want. If you think it's more fun to help out other players, GO FOR IT! Wow. I feel stupid. New to the forums really, after all the years I've played DayZ Mod I never once used the forums lol...

I was playing fine for a while, switched to a couple of servers whilst playing and then stopped for about an hour and a half. I come back to my computer and start up DayZ, all is fine. I go to Change Server and all it shows are the expieremental branch servers. I think to myself "I wonder how I got switched to the expieremental version of the game..." so I go on Steam and check out the Betas under properties and see that it's on the default "OPT Out Betas." So, I'm on the beta version I don't know how but it is only showing the expieremental servers and I didn't do anything to change it! Help!

I can tell you what; There's less expierenced, less skilled players. Than there's more expierenced, more skilled players. If you run into a less skilled player, than you have a much easier time to be a "hero" and not kill this person or help them out because they require it. If you run into a more expierenced player that, say has everything he needs or doesn't even appreciate charity, good luck because you'll need it. I'm going to be totally honest. I KoS any player that is in my way, has something I want, or I think is a potential threat that can wipe me out should I drop my guard. I don't shoot unarmed, or a player who is not a threat to me because really, that's just less competition if I were to do that and what fun is DayZ without any competition? I don't recieve hero help; This is because I don't run into players that are more skilled than I am that are heros. The only time I die, is to other bandits who may have gotten the jump on me or a bandit that is more skilled than I am. Heros are only really heros if they are good enough to offer help. You aren't a "hero" if you just simply not shoot somebody on sight. I kill because I am skilled enough to; And don't say it requires more skill to be a hero. It doesn't. It requires more patience and more compassion. Towards the players I kill without them even knowing I was around before it's too late; I hold no compassion for them. They knew the risk they ran when they played this game. They decided to preform whatever choice they made to get in my cross hairs. Always be weary of bandits, and it isn't much of a problem. Besides, being a hero only hurts the community just as much as a bandit. What's the game without pvp? Zombies aren't a threat, so if you wipe out players being a threat, what's the point to the game? You need bandits like me. I don't like bandits that kill players that don't have anything, because THAT ruins the game. There would be no need for heros if there weren't bandits.
