I'm curious on peoples opinions about private and public servers. As a player, from your perspective, what are the benefits and disadvantages for both? If you have two private servers, master and slave, are they connected? So your gear will carry over to any shard connected to the master server?

Anyone have crash to desktop issue when spray painting a weapon with non-weapon item in hands and full inventory? Happened to me once in experimental didn't think anything of it. Happened to me again just now in stable.

I played a lot two days ago, Sunday. Here are my ammo findings for civilian areas on current exp. patch, everyone will have different findings for obvious reasons. .22 common, .380 common, 9mm common, .45ACP extremely rare, .357 common, 12 gage rare, .308 rare, 7.62x54 extremely rare, 5.45mm none, 5.56mm none, 7.62x39 none Found a mosin, markarov, P1, 1911, Derringer, Magnum, sporter, a couple trumpets, repeater, blaze, and several IZH shotguns.

I've found lots of .308 ammo in my travels. I have found it in civilian loot areas. 7.62x54 ammo can be found in civ loot also, just incredibly rare.

I went to the prison expecting an Aladdins cave...

I've been playing experimental for a better part of two weeks. When I started first thing I did was get a canteen and go over there. Testing loot functions I did server hop and I stayed in prison island for days. Best loot was a Tortilla backpack and PM73 RAK complete with 25 round mag. That was with days of server hop, never leaving island, and only playing about 30 minutes at a time. Come .58 in 2 days, loot will be dynamically spread. Go where nobody goes to consistently find civilian loot. (food, tools, civ weapons). Police cars and heli crashes are the most reliable for non-civ weapons and gear. -
I usually have several playstyles that I rotate through. Isolated, friendly, greedy, KOS. Once survival needs are met and all gear I want is obtained I usually KOS at millitary areas and leave my spoils to my murderer. The most fun I've had was being hunted and killed by "Heroes" during a camping KOS streak.

Should Physical Player Improvements For Surviving Long Periods Of Time Be Implamented?
custombark replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Non-combat improvements. Extended running/sprinting endurance. Better carry weight capacity. Able to repair ruined clothing... Something to get attached to my character beyond gear and stored food energy. -

So my gun wouldn't fire so what was wrong with it?
custombark replied to thelonewarrior's topic in General Discussion
On occasion it has taken a while for the server to recgonize that I loaded my weapon. It would tell me my weapon already has ammo in it when trying to re-reload. Two indicators for it. 1. The gun does not shoot. 2. While the weapon is in hands the ammo is not being registered along side the attachments like it should be. Though rare, it has taken as long as several minutes for the loading animation to occur and my weapon be actually loaded. Are you sure you saw the ammo in the weapon with the attachments? -
There should be a third option for the poll, "Healthy mix of adding features and bug squashing". New features create new bugs, if you keep adding bugs without fixing them the game will soon be unplayable. Perhaps holding off playing for a few months will add more purpose to expierenced dayz players. Soon the environment will add extra survival elements as well as persistant storage for continued looting plus hunting in the somewhat distant pipeline. Asking the devs to add more content when they have been doing just that for months is kinda redundant. I've been playing alpha games for a while, when it gets stale I give it a month or two break and once I go back its practically a new game. Best advice I can give, be patient and/or find something else until more content is added.

From what I've done it's unlimited. Though it can take a while to get anything substantial.

I'd love for players to become zombies if infected. Only they can play as their zombie and hunt players. Would add a very dangerous zombie element. Plus their gear would be in circulation since it would be on them. Just one of my dayz dreams.

Hardcore Vs Regular Server Question
custombark replied to Bogart (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
I heard the visual distance to aggro zombies is farther on hardcore. I don't play regular so I haven't confirmed it. -
Specific houses and places drop more food than others. There's only several dozen house types in the game, most single story ones are bugged currently and don't drop loot. Keep searching until you are able to recgonize houses with good loot, and entire cities that are ripe with loot. This is where expierence comes in. Learn from your successes and failures and you will succeed.

If I hear close shots that miss, I would immediately find cover or bolt out of the area I'm in. Depending on various tactical factors I would either follow-up with retreating or go hunting myself. Being well supplied for a shoot out and if I saw the gunman, I would most likely try to flank, stalk, and kill (or out-maneuver then kill). If I didn't know where the shooter was, I would most likely flee. Warning shots would work, but only if your location was a mystery. Otherwise retaliation would most likely occur.
