A walk/run icon, is this possible

I agree that this would be a good idea. Even better if it could be toggled by the player, depending whether they wanted it (since I am sure some don't). After changing to camo clothing whilst in a town, my character was suddenly set to run by default (due to my character being 'replaced' by the server - my debug monitor kill stats also reset to zero until I next logged in). I almost pulled all the nearby zombies by running when I started to move again. Not good! Also, seems a few other situations can cause the walk toggle to reset back to the default run speed. I wouldn't mind a crouch/stand indicator too, since that also resets after climbing a ladder (which leaves you standing), or sometimes when checking your gear or map (leaves you crouched). But at the same time I don't want the UI to become crowded with icons. The fewer the better!

    [DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!

I agree that this would be interesting. Though in my case it's because I want to see who has the lowest kills per hour, rather than the highest! I quite enjoy surviving without attracting attention or using up any ammo if I can help it, so I'd be hoping to come out towards the bottom end of the scale rather than the top like many other players. A heatmap would be interesting but not in the spirit of the mod in my opinion, but then neither are printed Chernarus maps, loot maps or loot tables, yet so many players are clearly using those. Therefore I don't think a heatmap of player locations would make an ounce of difference. The only time I use a map is if I find one in game, but that's how *I* like to play DayZ. I would never expect everyone else to be the same.
  3. Before I explain this, I've no idea what the statistics are like on total loot on a server at any one time, but due to the amount of player killing I expect the volume of 'good' loot grows considerably over time, as people keep taking all the best stuff from other players' bodies. It lead me to the following suggestion: I thought that it might be sensible/realistic/simple to have a player's inventory at risk of randomly 'losing' a handful of items when they are shot (or perhaps only when killed). After all, if you gun down a person there's a fair chance you'll hit that can of beans in their backpack or put a hole in their water bottle rendering it useless. Maybe even add a chance of the victim's weapon becoming damaged just so you can't absolutely guarantee that you'll be able to get all that lovely gear they're carrying. It's not in any way a ploy to harm bandits and their way of 'living off the land', just another small idea for a new variable to add to the mix. Quite how it'd be coded I don't know. Making two of every item (the regular one and a damaged one) isn't a good way (time consuming), so that only leaves the option of items having a % chance to randomly 'disappear'. In which case it should probably only happen on death, else you might suddenly find your bandage gone when you've just taken a bullet and need to patch up. May be realistic, but might confuse the hell out of people and generate more 'bug' threads about items vanishing. I'm sure there are loads more essential things to sort in DayZ but we don't have a suggestion sub-forum for nothing :D

Inventory items randomly lost when killed

Thanks for the link. I had looked in the most recent pages of suggestions and saw nothing similar. Hard to search for 'loot', 'damage', 'kill' etc. and not return every thread on the board :D Better two suggestions than none. All readers please refer to thread linked above! DooM4MR - I have no idea what you mean with your Mario reference. I get the reference, just not the relevance to DayZ or my suggestion, sorry. But I think 'no' is my answer in any case!

    MP5SD6!

After a very cautious approach to the supermarket in Zelenogorsk, I began to crawl across the road between a couple of monkey zombies when I heard a strange tapping sound. Didn't even think it was an in-game sound. So imagine my surprise when I saw a survivor crouched behind the glass door in the supermarket shooting at me with an MP5SD6! After letting off a dozen of his rounds, bullet holes/cracks appearing in the glass, I couldn't believe I was still alive. He quickly retreated into the back of the store, equally in surprise no doubt. After 3 weeks of daily DayZ, this was the first player I had met face to face. Every other player encounter was either me watching them go by or them putting a bullet in my head from who-knows-where. Expecting a fresh assault any moment, I sprinted into the supermarket, zombies now in tow, and dashed into the back to shoot the guy with my G17. I also had a regular MP5 but no time to switch weapons. I took him by surprise and killed him, then dealt with the zombies. Finally took his MP5SD6 before quickly leaving the area. I didn't want to kill that guy and I regret it, but I had no choice. It's already helped greatly when I accidentally attracted a zombie in the middle of a crowd. I took it out with no further attention from the rest of the group. But it seems the MP5SD6 can't shoot through glass, so that's something to bear in mind! Probably explains Paxicable's difficulty posted above with the player in the control tower. I've only got 2 clips and doubt I'll find more, but that'll last me weeks (if I live that long). I'm not in the habit of killing zombies or players if I can help it! Most weapons I found were never fired...
  8. YES But would like additional cues. Also longer-term consequences for 'bad' players (carry percentage of low humanity to next life?)
  9. YES Make people proceed more carefully - teaches better patience :D Make people less gung-ho in the process (hopefully).
